  1. If dame wants to win going to the warriors wouldn’t be the worst idea. If he wants to lead the team then Philly makes all kinds of sense for him and Philly. I’m not sure he wants or needs to be the face of the franchise. I think he can be a very solid #2 and would be fine with it. Especially if he wants to win. Which brings another thought... who is the worst best player that can be #1 for your team and you win a championship?
  2. The 4 years remaining on the contract are going to demand a high price. I could see PG for dame but if I’m dame I look at kawhi and wonder if his heart is in the game or if he is going to sit out every time he has a hangnail. Philly makes all kinds of sense to me and they might as well make a run at it with dame before embiid starts to feel like he’s carrying a team and wants out because he can’t get them a championship alone.
  3. So if dame is on the outs... where does he go? Seems like the 76ers are an obvious landing spot with Simmons and draft picks and salary fillers. I read on Reddit this morning that it’s feasible that GSW could actually put together a package keeping their 3 core players and adding dame.
  4. Won a match today 2&1. Played like absolute shit shooting an 88 but made ever clutch putt I needed to so we stayed up 2 the entire match after hole 4 until 16. Then a clutch putt on 17 to win the match. Was a little hyped. My resting heartbeat is about 55-60. I was running 125 all match so was just swinging too hard.
  5. I would say I had a smooth 8 putt on #2 but I had to chip twice between putts. That short par 4 on the back number 13 I think. Was 3 feet above the hole on a right pin position. Ended up 20 feet off the green. Just brutal.
  6. Shafts these days are probably 80% of a club fitting. You don’t realize that until you start seeing the numbers on a trackman.
  7. Crazy that #2 is a 132 slope rating and #4 is a 134. It is abundantly easy to see why #2 is US Open caliber though. If you don’t water those greens twice a day they can roll a 13 and the landing zones are tiny. Otherwise the course is very fair in my opinion. But yeah... you get punished for hitting the green in the wrong spot. Something almost no other course in America will do to you.
  8. Haha yeah I have to say pinehurst is my favorite experience on a golf trip so far. I could live there if it was a private course.
  9. We played 1, 2, 4, 8. I would never play 1 or 8 again. I think I’m going back in November or so. Going to do 2, 4, and then pop over to Tobacco Road I think.
  10. I don’t get sandbaggers honestly. You might win a match but you’ll torch your reputation and no one will play with you. Went out with a 38 tonight. Had everything going so instead of stopping at 9 I played 18 thinking this could be the round in the 70s for the first time. Shot 45 on the back with an 8 on 16. Was 7 over until that on a par 71. Finished triple, bogey, bogey on 16-17-18. 83. The nice thing is this was a practice round for me and my partner in our match tomorrow. He shot 84. We are getting 13 and 14 strokes which is good for 70-70. If he can play that way tomorrow we are going to smoke these two scratch golfers.
  11. Hahaha the best defense I have against that accusation is that I have recorded 34 scores this year, many times on streaks of 4 days in a row of golf. Didn’t play much in May this year. I was called a sandbagger last year by a guy who had 6 rounds recorded for the year I had 50 recorded at the time and it was June 1. I asked the guy how much more he would like for me to play to get my handicap down then offered that he should maybe play more than 10 times a year. Really I’ve just had an epiphany about a month ago and my handicap just hasn’t caught up. I have 10 scores in June alone. I can’t play much more than this. My average round going into this month was 92.76. In June it’s 88.2 with what I would consider 4-6 really bad holes per round. If I keep playing 10 rounds a month I’m guessing I’ll be a 9.0 index by the end of September and then it’ll be hard to keep pace.
  12. This 4hybrid is 23* and will be my first hybrid. I’m excited for it... that being said I grabbed the front 9 last night and my driver is now my best club in my bag that isn’t my putter and my putter is on absolute fire. I specifically ordered the 4hybrid to be able to attack the green on hole 3 and hole 7 on my second shot. Well you don’t need a 4hybrid on 3 when you hit a 330 yard buttery fucking cut from the tee. Was 200 out and barely missed my eagle putt from 40’. 7 was pretty much the same just didn’t hit the green. Shot a 40 on the front with a bad bad double bogey from 110 in the middle of the fairway. Grabbed the wrong club and then let it shake me and chunked the chip after being 10 yards short of the green. I have a match tomorrow for our full season tourney and was playing with one of the guys we’ll be playing. He’s worried about my game and giving me 13 strokes. I’m still outpacing my handicap by a fair clip. The GHIN app said I played to a 4.1 index last night when I recorded the partial round. . I’m currently sitting at 11.0. I’m basically looking for any event in the area that is handicapped to get in right now.
  13. We’ve got a guy at the course who buys new equipment to every year. Call him play it again Scott since you can pick up his old stuff for extremely cheap.
  14. When your confidence is down spend money. Works 2% of the time for a short amount of time. I like it.
  15. Flatso is what I use. Couple that with 70-100 putts a night on the perfect putting mat and I can’t fucking miss. I didn’t think it was possible to have more confidence in the greens than I did a few years ago but I would put my putting against anyone’s right now. also, thought my GIR would go down coming back to Tulsa where we have the smallest greens in the region. I hit 8 greens yesterday. Had 2 bad holes (par 5s) on the front for a 43 yesterday. Then was 3 over on the back thru 14 before hitting the dope. Finished +8 on the last 4 holes alone. 88 but that was because I didn’t have the mental patience to get thru the entire round and kinda just wanted to get fucked up.
  16. Thanks for the help all. I might ditch the 60 and go back to a 57/58. that being said, fitting for the hybrid went great and I snagged one. I’ll now carry a 4iron and a 4hybrid. Iron is a consistent 200-210 and the hybrid got me exactly what I was looking for in 215-225 with a landing angle of 47 degrees on average. Also, wrapped up my weekend in kc with another “bad” 86. 6 doubles, 3 birdies, 4 pars. I am absolutely loving that. My path to improvement is very clear while I’ve learned how to score. Couldn’t be happier with my game. Headed back to Tulsa to roll in hot for a noon time with some rowdy buddies. Going to go win some cheddar.
  17. Thank lurch. Makes sense. I’m at the point in my game where u have 2 club slots that should be for specific shots I feel like. For instance, my 3w is a 240-265 club (depending on tee or fairway) and my 4iron is a 205-210 club. I can think of 4 shots I need every round at my club that need to be 220. So I’m looking at a longer club to be able to get those ping par 3s or that eagle opportunity. I have a 3iron but it’s old and doesn’t fly like new clubs do. So that’s leaving the bag and maybe a hybrid is coming in. That will keep me at 14 in the bag. Alternatively, I could put my 57 back in the bag. One problem I do have out of bunkers is loft and trajectory. I don’t hit a high soft ball out of bunkers. Which is why I liked the idea of a 60, which is a new club btw. Now I’m not so sure about the 60 but I’ll give it some good range time to give it a chance. So really, the question comes, do I forget about the long club and get another wedge in my bag? Do it get the long club and keep the 60? Do I get the long club and ditch the 60 and go back to a 57?
  18. Can you elaborate? I carry a 50, 54, and 60. Previously, I carried a 50, 53, and 57. Felt like I could really do some things with the 57 in and out of the sand. What I've never been able to do is spin a wedge from 10 yards off the green. I know two people who can spin the ball so well they will chip from the fringe because they have a one hop forward 3' then a check and a roll out 6 more feet. I feel like if I had that in my bag I could scramble my way around the course and be in the low 80s consistently. Then I hit some greens and get even lower. I feel like the short game is my next area of improvement but need to figure out how to make it work.
  19. I don’t hit greens which is why I need to figure out the short game so I can scramble better. Or I need to discover that one thought that changes the look of an approach.
  20. Absolutely in love with my game right now. That being said, I can see how I would get frustrated if I can't break 80 and be consistently in the low 80s next year. Shot what I thought was a "bad" 86 yesterday. Started off -1 thru 2 (with an eagle chance). Then put a dumb tee ball OB for a triple. On 8 I left a bunker shot in the bunker for a bogey then on 9 I duffed two chips in deep rough for a double. 44 going out with 3 pars and a birdie. Back side I had 3 pars and 6 bogeys. One 3 putt bogey, one putt that was about 12 feet that I miss hit but had the right line (putt it a second time and jarred it), and then barely missed a birdie putt from 12 feet on 18. 29 putts. The pieces are all there, I just really need to focus on my short game and learn how to hit this fucking 60* wedge. I'm watching videos like crazy to learn how to put a lot of spin on the ball in a short distance. My feel just isn't great around the green so getting the ball close when I miss a green is really about hitting the ball on and hoping it runs up. Transitioning to the cut shot put control into my game. I feel like learning to spin it around the green will give me control to be more aggressive in my short game and then I'm gold.
  21. The way most kids are going to get fucked is that they will overestimate their brand. An attorney will charge them 5k and their brand is worth 3k. Or the attorney is going to take a contingency fee of 35-50% because of the work/risk factor. Which means attorneys becoming the clearinghouse for money. I really like the idea of kids being able to make money on NIL and I think it’s the only sustainable way for kid’s to get paid to play college sports. It’s market driven and that’s good. I do think in a vacuum it is going to be extraordinarily tough to police or maintain the system. It’ll also be tough on player egos when the 5* backup freshman is getting paid more than the 5* reached his potential and isn’t a draft pick starter. Then you throw in the transfer portal and the whole thing becomes an absolute abortion. NIL won’t kill college athletics. The decisions of the NCAA coupled with the NIL absolutely will. And when that time comes we have no one else to thank but the administrators of the schools we love for not running a clean shop and being proactive for the last 30 years.
  22. I was definitely taking it in. Learned that at whistling a few years ago. If you aren’t playing well then enjoy a walk in the park. Great course. Great resort. Will probably go back when the weather is cooler and in a few years.
  23. Just finished at the concession. I might join. Seriously. Nicest course I’ll ever play in my life and the greens were punched 3 weeks ago. If I was on the fence on moving to Florida and I played this course I’d move the next day. Just so great. I tripled 9 for a 45 from the 148 slope yellow. Lost my first ball then I decided to just take it easy since I didn’t think I could go sub-90 for the day. Let a little loose for a 94. Absolute blast.
  24. Absolutely brutal day today. Hot as hell. Started on the back side of the blue course and I sucked something hard. Bogey to start. Then a great drive on 11 (2) but a bad beat got me into a double bogey. Then the wheels came off and I shot 52 on the front. On hole 18 (9) the caddie manager drive out to us. He brought me 2 nooners and 3 shots of fireball. I took two shots and killed a nooner to get a bogey. Then went birdie, birdie and doubled 18 for a 40 on the back. All my booze was gone before my second shot on hole 2(11). It’s like I need alcohol to function or something.
  25. Streamsong black: super gimmick course. Enjoyed hitting almost every green but I had multiple 4 putts. FORTY SIX TOTAL PUTTS. Shot a 94. Don’t really feel the need to play that again, especially since I consider myself an A- putter. streamson red: more traditional. Hit a ton of fairways and the greens are still bigger than I’m used to (11 GIR). Played my ass of on the front but had a couple of tough doubles for a 43. Swing got a little loose on the back from the tee box but I fucking grinded the shit out of it. Sank a 10 footer on 18 for a birdie and 39! 82 is my low round ever. 3 total doubles and 1 birdie. 4 bogeys. I still didn’t putt well (37) because I just can’t get a feel for these greens and the pace. blue tomorrow then down to the concession.
