  1. Dillon Gabriel's pass to Nic Anderson with 15 seconds left! I kid! I kid!
  2. Heh. I'm a Sooner so that's why I posted that. I was a junior in college and at the game. Just miserable weather.
  3. He kicked the tieing FG against OU in 84

    Grandkids

Did a search of a few similar terms and didn’t see an existing thread. My oldest had a baby girl a little more than a year ago. My granddaughter is the coolest little girl I’ve ever been around. Is almost always happy, rarely cries and gives the sweetest little bemused smile at my idiotic antics to get her attention. I guess this is the meaning of life. And I’m really, really cool with that.
  5. Dumb question time. I had my own skis back in the late 70s and 80s. Last set is a 180cm K2 612 Competition Series (that I still have, lol). Since then, I've always rented demos to avoid the hassle of traveling with skis. I do have my own boots and replace them about every five years (side bar, Boot Mechanics in Avon rocks). Just recently I now have a place in Northern New Mexico where I can keep a set of skis and am thinking about getting skis and leaving them there for when I'm in the area. Been looking at Atomic Bent 100 or 110s since I'm old (60+) and am more into cruising and easy blacks these days. Found a decent deal on the skis, but am unsure what to do about bindings. Do bindings make a big difference or can I go with any mid priced set?

  7. Got Epics. Will check out Slopes. Skiing Taos today
  8. Sorry if I missed it in this thread, but what is everyone favorite ski apps (tracking, etc.)?
  9. Even Friday lunch at Casino? Cause I'll walk down there occasionally for that.
  10. I love cartoons. Never tried cartoon cookies though. My wife was the Cookie Mom. Boxes in the garage for weeks while they all got handed out. It was too tempting for me. I gained 10 pounds every year.

    Mexican

Texas Star by campus was the first place I ever had brisket tacos (late 80s/early 90s), and many Mexican martinis. The brisket tacos were on the menu as the Texas Star Tacos for awhile both there and the South Star that was on South Lamar in the same center where Ray Hennig's Heart of Texas was. Quality nosedived after they expanded to Dripping and when they moved the South location out to off Little Texas and I-35. Shame to have nothing left but the memories, but a 40 year run for a restaurant is top shelf.

    Burgers

Lamar location = P Terry's Taco Bell on 35th = Tiny Boxwood Their Dallas wings are killer, too. But it was burger time today.

    Burgers

Former law partner of mine got George to stay open on Monday nights to show MNF games. Couple of chili cheese dogs, a few Coors Lights and early 90s NFL games didn't suck.

    Burgers

More burger adjacent than burger. But with the cool weather get to Billy's for the Frito Pie (-tomatoes/+jalapenos). Just had one on the deck. And outstanding as per usual.
  18. Mayfield DQs don't carry hot dogs in their inventory so this just pisses me off.
  19. BK (Brad Kellner). He was awesome.
  20. Las Palomas Billy's on Burnet Green Mesquite
  21. Corned beef is horrible. Beef should never be "boiled" in water. Only exception is warming up hot dogs when drunk.
  22. Exactly what we do and forgot to mention it in my post. Seeing the long line of Suburbans with Thules heading NW up US 84 as we drive home on the day after Christmas was also an ftf82 family tradition.
  23. Any of the mountains in Colorado or New Mexico are going to be a shitshow with crowds the week between Christmas and New Year. Twenty years ago we decided to start doing Christmas in Angel Fire when my kids were young. We would drive out the week before though. No crowds at all the week before (although sometimes the snow wasn't all that great, but hey it's New Mexico). Wake up Christmas morning and open presents and then ski Christmas Day afternoon. Now it's a family tradition and my kids want to do it with their kids when they are old enough to ski. Highly recommend that approach if it works with your schedule.

    Pizza

Probably been mentioned, but Jersey Giant Pizza on 71 out by Hamilton Pool Road is very good. Stopped and picked one up coming back from Lake LBJ today. Outstanding as usual.
  25. Just had a nice 20 minute dump out at Lake LBJ. Looks like another one is coming, too.
