  1. Best bit of Airplane II. Almost makes it better than the original: Witness: Striker was the squadron leader. He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it. Prosecuting Attorney: Buddy couldn't handle it. Was Buddy one of your crew? Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces. Prosecuting Attorney: Andy went to pieces? Witness: No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued. Prosecuting Attorney: Howie came unglued? Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued. Prosecuting Attorney: And he bailed out? Witness: No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle. Prosecuting Attorney: Then Howie survived? Witness: No, 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day. Prosecuting Attorney: Over Macho Grande? Witness: No. I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande. Those wounds run...pretty deep.

  4. OU also has the series record against the Pokes in basketball. Not quite as lopsided though. 140-102.

  7. Wonder if it had to do with the fact that Longhorn Dam wasn't built until 1960.
  8. Rush in the limelight
  9. Negative. I've been trying to get the Texas Commerce Bank-Barton Creek branch closed down for 30 years. Looks like it's finally happening. :its_happening:
  10. I am a bank lawyer, too. 😁
  11. Exactly. Mine is a shade under 3,000 in West Lake Hills. Kids shared a bathroom. It's now a goldmine.

    RIP last Mangia
  13. Where was Louie's on the Lake? I have a vague memory from 1989-1990 of taking a ferry from Oyster Landing (long before Hula Hut or anything else was there) over to a restaurant where Lake Austin Marina is now. I thought it was Jazz on the Lake.
  14. anyone have an update on what's going in to the old Taco Bell at Walsh Tarlton and Bee Caves?

They were closed for a long time during the pandemic. Glad they reopened. We alternate between it and Bombay Bistro at Brodie Oaks. The classic bone-in chicken curry is really good.
  16. Petition is available online now.
  17. Ran into Mack and Cleve a couple of times at the Pizza Hut on MLK and Lavaca. Always thanked him for coaching up Aikman his one year at OU.
  18. That looks damn good. And that sauce is so thicc. I’m an Okie boy and we believe in sauce (although I raised my boy [UT grad] to be anti sauce). Will have to check it out
  19. According to the West Lake PD Facebook page nobody has come forward to press charges. Weird post First sentence states it happened and then they go out of their way to say nobody reported it. Maybe it happened at Cedar Creek, Barton Creek or Bridgepoint since those are outside the West Lake City Limits West Lake Hills Police August 18 at 12:28 PM · UPDATE. On August 16th, a parent at a local elementary school physically removed a mask from a teacher during a school event. However, no 911 calls were received from anyone on the scene to report this incident when it happened, possibly due to the teacher not wanting to file charges at the time. We did not receive a call to the location, no report was made, and nobody has followed up with the West Lake Hills Police Department regarding the incident. If the teacher changes their mind and reaches out to us, we will investigate.
  20. Have taken my son (Longhorn 2020 grad) to Vegas twice now. I'll stake him some at the tables but as he's a novice he tends to prefer the "video" crap games that have the big dice in the center of a game console that seats 5 or 6 people. Anyone know the rules on these things? Are they required to payoff a certain amount like slots? He played for a couple of hours with $100, and other than not having the table crowd seemed like a good way to learn. Edit: Last time we were there was Feb 2020 for the MLR opening weekend. Stayed at the Westgate. Would never take my wife there but a great place to take my kid. Last night session at the table ended up next to Tony DeMarco, 1950s era Welterweight Champ with a huge ring. CSB and all that.
  21. Puts OU No,. 1 in 2023 Recruiting on some lists. Definitely a big get.
  22. Force field! LOL
  23. MLR Championship game just started on CBS. LA v Atlanta. Westlake’s Ryan Reese is the backup scrum half for Atlanta and will likely see action in the second half.
  24. Damnit. Now I'm craving an Ed's Best Bitter from Waterloo Brew.
