What the fuck is wrong with you, Austin?
Supposedly the end result will be only one light between 183/360 (Capital of TX Hwy) and Bastrop after all the work is done. Only remaining light will be at Mopac/360. And sadly this is one of those projects that YGIFS would be able to post several paragraphs on.

Dairy Queen slowly dying
Marble Falls DQ has steak fingers and tacos. Plus they made the national news with their sign about the eclipse. Also, the Bowie DQ has the best breakfast in Montague County.

Anyone know what's up with the Deckhands in South Austin changing to Ocean Blue Oyster Bar? Menu looks almost identical to Deckhands still. Dan and Fran's breakup maybe?

To this day I can't figure out how they managed to get a light there. It's an entrance into a gated subdivision (and therefore a private road). Someone had some $troke to get TxDOT approval for that.

Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but went to Fonda tonight. We usually go there maybe once or twice a year. It's a freaking Austin treasure. My sister in law just moved back after living overseas for 12 years so it was a welcome back to Austin dinner. And it hit it out of the park. Wife and I are big mezcal fans and their choices are, well, so choice. And I can't go there without getting the mole, while wife and SIL got the ceviche and shrimp veracruzano. Parking sucks, and there's always a wait. But man that place is so good.

They moved last year to the new building constructed on the old Sullivan's lot.

If you haven't been to the new location downtown, I highly recommend it. They did a great job with the build out and it's a fantastic setting. Ask for a table by the window if you make a reservation. And if you get there early enough, hit the bar for a drink or two before hand.

In Norman for the Tennessee game. Little appetizer before kickoff. Best steak sandwich in the world.

@BurntEyes where do you think they'll have the surf competition in '28? I'm not a surfer, but used to love watching Mavericks when it was still a thing.- Overrated Food Places
I champion it a lot, but honestly Billy's is your answer here. Billy's Philly is outstanding. Not sure about pitchers of beer, but they have a wide beer selection including lots of local options. Nevermind. Just saw you're in Houston and not Austin- Texas Getting Michelin Star Ratings in 2025
Jeffrey's and Barley Swine should be automatic. Even though Uchi is outstanding I have a hard time seeing a CenTex sushi oriented joint getting a start for the reasons outlined. and for fun they should give one to Billy's on Burnet since every redditor in Austin has just recently discovered it.
