  1. I hate all sequels, except The Godfather 2. I went into this with very low expectations, really only saw it cuz the kids begged me to take them and I loved the first one enough to give this a shot. Plot holes were huge, the laws of physics were changed to guidelines, and Goose Jr. would be close to 40 in this timeline... but it was fucking great. I'm seeing it again Saturday since my wife didn't join us when I saw it the first time. I insisted she see it and I had no problem going to see it again.
  2. My dads been gone since 1985. He was a senior that year, I remember him saying that it was one of the most fun games he ever attended. He was on the sidelines reporting on the game for the Daily Texan. He said that after the game there were corps members crying in the stands. He would often say that scene was one of his fondest memories. Started his Master's program at UT the following year and dropped out 3 days after Pearl Harbor to enlist. CSB.
  3. I first tried a bidet at the Park Hyatt Hotel in NYC, late 2018. I knew I had to have one someday. Summer of 2019, I'm in Jerusalem, Israel, the holiest city in the world. I get woken up at 2am by a Woot notification that the Biobidet 6800U was on sale for a serious discount. The location and the time of day, I was convinced It had to be a message from a higher power. I bought it. It was on my doorstep the day after we got back. My wife never fully appreciated the awesomeness of her husband's decision to buy it. When she prepped for her colonoscopy on Sunday, she finally understood.
  4. Let me explain this to you. My post was a criticism of all the shitty things about the game and how I'd be crazy to ever go back there again, yet I'll keep going till the day I die. So, your reply doesn't really work because I do plan on going back. Is there anything else I can clarify for you? I'll be more than happy to.
  5. Been going since 1981. Went yesterday with my wife. My twins who I've been taking since they were 10 are seniors and sat 3 sections over from us in the student section. With them graduating in May I'm wondering if it's time for this tradition to end for me. For the last 25 years I've said I'm tired of dealing with 6 hour drives in traffic jams to get to Dallas, the nightmare of getting to the stadium by car or the shitshow DART manages every year. Sick of leaving dehydrated and sunburned. Fed up with losing to those inbreds half the time. I'm too old to put up with pissing in a trough, backbreaking seats, and the craziness of getting in and out of the stadium. It's a no-brainer, I can watch it on my 65 inch TV at home, in AC, with no bathroom lines, and not spend the shit-ton of money like I do every year. Yeah, it's a no-brainer, but I guess I don't have a fucking brain cuz I'll probably go again next year and every following year till I'm pushing up daisies.
  6. Lincoln Riley never had the makings of a varsity athlete.
  7. When Lincoln Riley has to pee at a party at a friend's house, he leaves the bathroom door open.
  8. My dad graduated from UT in 1941. Was in his first semester of his master's when Pearl Harbor was attacked, he resigned his position as editor of the Daily Texas and enlisted. After the war he settled in NYC to do a Madison Ave advertising gig. Years later I came along. I had been to the campus a few times visiting from NY and loved it, but had no interest in football whatsoever. When I graduated high school, I had never been to a high school, college, or pro game. Transferred to UT after doing 2 years in a shitty upstate NY school. First day in Austin in 1981, potluck roommate from the metroplex asks me if I'm going to the game on Saturday. I tell him I wasn't planning to. He said "you don't come to UT and not go to football games." He took my ID and put it in with his group and drew for tickets. I didn't argue with him, figured I should check out the craziness at least once. Come Saturday, I could not believe all the tailgating and pre-game stuff. I entered the stadium and was blown away by all the colors, pageantry, traditions, the band, everything. It was love at first site. Went to pretty much every home game and quite a few ou games during my student days. Went to the Cotton Bowl where we lost to Georgia and missed a shot at the NC. Fast forward to 2006. Best game I had ever been to up to that time was the Michigan Rose Bowl. 1 year and 4 days later I went to an even better one. I've had season tickets for 25 years. Tomorrow I'll go to the game and meet my 3rd generation senior Longhorn twins sitting in the student section for drinks afterwards.
  9. In early 1999, my wife and I found out she was pregnant with twins. We were shopping at Rooster's store and saw a t-shirt that said "Longhorn Under Construction." We took it to the counter to buy it and mentioned that we loved the shirt but it wasn't quite accurate since we had 2 babies in there. Sales clerk said to hang on a second while they went to the back. Apparently Rooster told them to iron-on an "S" after "Longhorn" free of charge. Must have worked, both kids graduate in May. Thanks Rooster, RIP in the great alumni center in the sky.
  10. Last year for their 21st birthday, I got Vince to do a happy birthday video on the cameo website for my twins who were then juniors (now seniors) at UT. I think there may be a way to contact him on there.
  11. Exactly. Seriously, is there any other way to interpret this? Isn't he basically saying that aggy is too dumb and culturally inferior to the PAC 12 and Texas fits in? Just an unbelievably stupid (but true) comment for him to make.
  12. Thanks for the PSA. You should really try the P365. I read the reviews and tried one out. It instantly became my carry weapon. Soon as my kids all got LTCs, each of them got one as well.
  13. "Bill Powers was very clear to me that they felt much more akin to the schools in the Big Ten and on the West Coast. He was very dismissive of the SEC because he felt academically it was an inferior conference. He's no longer around, I understand that. But the fit, culturally, of A&M and the SEC is very good. The fit of Texas is not. That's just plain and simple." This has to be the dumbest statement he could have made.
  14. Brat, any updates on this? Had a chance to try it out? Reliable?
  15. 7.5 years on again and off again (not always voluntary) but I managed to squeak out a BA degree at the 40 acres. My father graduated with honors and my twins are presently honor students at UT going into their senior year. I often wonder if I should get some genetic testing done.
  16. I saw the Cars, Rush, Bowie around that time in other venues. Rush and Bowie were 2 of the best I've ever seen. As someone said earlier, the Cars were a terrible live band. Only saw Petty on the tour before he died, even if he was slightly better in his prime that may have been 1 of the 2.
  17. Going down from the west side upper deck you can take the ramps, never tried going up. Over the past 20 years at least 2 or 3 times I've seen the people hired to maintain crowd control get careless and allow too many people to enter one of the escalators going down. A bottle neck formed at the entrance to the next escalator and people started to fill up the landing, with people having no where to go when stepping off the previous one. Good times and CSB.
  18. That's kind of what I figured. Are your seats always in the shade? If not, what time do they usually get out from under the sun?
  19. Well, officially moved from Section 107 row 13 to Section 7 row 70. Hope this was a good idea. Gonna miss the chair backs. But not taking 13 escalators to the stratosphere for the first time in 20 years isn't going to suck. And shade.
  20. My selection time is in about an hour. Currently in upper west side 107 chair backs. Want to stay in the same price range, thinking about bench seats in the lower bowl in one of the higher rows in section 7. I'm getting older and have had some scares at the dermatologist office, so I really don't want to be in the direct sun any more than I have to. Advantages over current seats are don't have to do a dozen escalators to get to upper deck and earlier shade. Disadvantages are sight lines aren't as good and no chair backs. Any other things to consider?
  21. Gus and Joel are the current best. Almost now makes me feel bad for the nasty hit he took in the 2005 conference championship game against us. Keith Jackson, even in his last year with his skills fading, was still in a league by himself. I was at the 2006 NC game so I didn't get to hear him call it live, but even watching the replay a few days later when I got back and knowing how it was going to end, that 4th and 5 call was still amazing.
  22. I have twins sons attending UT, would like to take them to the game tonight. Need to know soon, have to drive in from San Antonio. Thanks.
  23. Wife (no pics) and I are going to Denver later this month. Bought a ticket in conjunction with my National Park annual pass to do the Mount Evans Bypass. It's the highest paved road in the Northern Hemisphere at over 14,000 feet. Another legal way to get high in Colorado. Wife is a little nervous about the drive, lots of switchbacks and curves on a road that has no guardrails and narrow (originally built for Model Ts). Is it that bad? I drove Haleakala in Maui, is that on par with this drive? Should both of us take a shit-ton of CBD before we attempt this? Any other suggestions of things to do in Denver when we aren't risking our lives driving Mount Evans?
  24. I remember a few years ago he recreated that kick at DKR during a TV time out. Granted, he's a much older guy now but no pressure, no one trying to block it, and nobody icing him. He missed it.
  25. I saw some high resolution pictures someone took of the kick. It looked like the ball passed through the arms of a Michigan player and slightly grazed his arm. My seats in the end zone were so shitty it looked perfectly fine to me.
