  1. Well, officially moved from Section 107 row 13 to Section 7 row 70. Hope this was a good idea. Gonna miss the chair backs. But not taking 13 escalators to the stratosphere for the first time in 20 years isn't going to suck. And shade.
  2. My selection time is in about an hour. Currently in upper west side 107 chair backs. Want to stay in the same price range, thinking about bench seats in the lower bowl in one of the higher rows in section 7. I'm getting older and have had some scares at the dermatologist office, so I really don't want to be in the direct sun any more than I have to. Advantages over current seats are don't have to do a dozen escalators to get to upper deck and earlier shade. Disadvantages are sight lines aren't as good and no chair backs. Any other things to consider?
  3. Gus and Joel are the current best. Almost now makes me feel bad for the nasty hit he took in the 2005 conference championship game against us. Keith Jackson, even in his last year with his skills fading, was still in a league by himself. I was at the 2006 NC game so I didn't get to hear him call it live, but even watching the replay a few days later when I got back and knowing how it was going to end, that 4th and 5 call was still amazing.
  4. I have twins sons attending UT, would like to take them to the game tonight. Need to know soon, have to drive in from San Antonio. Thanks.
  5. Wife (no pics) and I are going to Denver later this month. Bought a ticket in conjunction with my National Park annual pass to do the Mount Evans Bypass. It's the highest paved road in the Northern Hemisphere at over 14,000 feet. Another legal way to get high in Colorado. Wife is a little nervous about the drive, lots of switchbacks and curves on a road that has no guardrails and narrow (originally built for Model Ts). Is it that bad? I drove Haleakala in Maui, is that on par with this drive? Should both of us take a shit-ton of CBD before we attempt this? Any other suggestions of things to do in Denver when we aren't risking our lives driving Mount Evans?
  6. I remember a few years ago he recreated that kick at DKR during a TV time out. Granted, he's a much older guy now but no pressure, no one trying to block it, and nobody icing him. He missed it.
  7. I saw some high resolution pictures someone took of the kick. It looked like the ball passed through the arms of a Michigan player and slightly grazed his arm. My seats in the end zone were so shitty it looked perfectly fine to me.
  8. I was sitting in the endzone that the game winning FG went into. Best game I'd ever been to since my first year at UT in 1981. Only took a year and 4 days to attend a better one.
  9. Went to Morgantown 2 years ago for the game. Flew into Pittsburgh, spent the night and attempted to drive to Morgantown the next day. Hit a pothole a block from my hotel which took out both right side tires. We had allowed plenty of time but with the delays getting another rental we missed all of the first quarter and half of the second. But,WV fans were great, probably the best I've ever met. I told some guy on the way into the stadium our story and we got offered beers and food. After the game WV fans congratulated us and were very cool in defeat. Every time I see someone with a WVU shirt or hat I tell them that they have the best fans. On the drive back we stopped at the Falling Water museum, one of Frank Lloyd Wright's residential designs. If you are into architecture, it's a must see.
  10. Vince sending my Longhorn twins a 21st birthday message.
  11. I vaguely remember getting tickets through Wheeler to the Tulane game in New Orleans, maybe around 2003 or so? I think he organized some deal where you got some pretty decent seats, hospitality suite and some other stuff I don't remember. Am I remembering that correctly?
  12. So Tvision from T-mobile went bye-bye today. It was an OK service but had some flaws. DVR was clunky, serious lag in game broadcasts and the interface sucked. But it had most locals and LHN. T-mobile gave me a 1 month free and $10 off a month deal to switch to Youtube TV so I took it. I hoped that I'd be able to login to the ESPN watch app and use the YouTube account credentials to access LHN that way but as someone pointed out above, it says that you can't access that content. So, what can I do to get LHN? Can I subscribe to ESPN separately in some way?
  13. Been using T-mobiles T-vision to get LHN and some locals. Service is being cancelled by T-Mobile on the 29th. If I switch to Youtube TV I can get most of the channels I want and all locals, but not LHN. Can I get LHN on the Apple TV and Firestick by using the ESPN app since I have an ESPN subscription on Youtube TV?
  14. First is the 1984 Cotton Bowl as many others have mentioned. Student at UT at the time. Drove up from Austin and back the same day. Capped off a perfect day by getting a speeding ticket a mile from home on the way back. Second is the 2010 NC game. Took my 10 year old twin sons. More disappointed for them than myself, I'd been to Pasadena 4 years earlier to see the greatest game in history. At least they got to go to Universal Studios and see Hollywood tourist shit. 11 years later both are juniors at UT and the best game they've been to was the Sugar Bowl against Georgia. If we'd won that day we might have somewhat prevented Alabama from becoming the dynasty they have. And my sons would get to say to their fellow Longhorns "yeah, we were at that game," and I'd have been the best Dad ever instead of the mediocre one I am.
  15. For the first time in my 59 years of life, I'm selling a vehicle privately instead of trading it in. Car was a lease and I decided to buy it from the leasing company, figured that instead of giving it back and paying a disposition fee I'd try to sell it at a profit (even after paying tax a second time). Advertised the car in a few places and I immediately had a buyer. Got the signed title from the leasing company and went down to the tax assessor office to reregister the car in my name so I could sell to the buyer. I was told it could take up to 20 business days to get the new title? Why would it take that long? All they are doing is verifying information on a screen and putting a blue piece of paper into a laser printer. Does it actually take 20 business days or is that just a worst case scenario? I'd like to get this sold as quickly as possible since I'm paying insurance and the note on the balloon payment and every extra day eats into how much I'll clear. Thanks.
  16. He was our coach when I started at UT. Absolutely sick defenses in the early 80s. I was at the 83 cotton bowl against Georgia where we came within a muffed punt of a MNC. Felt terrible for the guy. RIP coach, you were a class act.
  17. Yes. Thats what he did. He said that the 2 adjacent ones were on the same phase and couldn't be bridged to make 240. Makes sense since he did move a circuit to arrange for them to be 2 apart instead of adjacent. Right side of box are all even numbers, left is odd numbers. 18. I agree, that's also a concern. That 2 breakers would have to trip instead of 1. The 2 hots are going to each side of a NEMA 14-30 outlet and the each neutral/grounds combined and going to the ground and neutral of the outlet together. It works, so that's good but I wonder if its up to code. I can always yank it out when I sell the house I guess.
  19. Just bought a Tesla Model 3, most fun car I've ever driven. 120 volt charging was a joke, 3-5 miles per hour wasn't going to work. Had an electrician put in a 240 volt 30 amp circuit that gets me 24 miles per hour. Things are good. But, I'm a little concerned about the installation. I read up on it and I understand that electricity coming into the house is at 240. The main box provides 240 to the AC, water heater, range, and the box in the garage. The box in the garage splits that 240 into two 120 phases with half the circuits being on one phase and the other half on another. All the stuff I've seen says you put in a 30 amp breaker that fits into and pulls from 2 adjacent slots to achieve 240. My guy tells me that my box doesn't work that way. So he put a 30 amp breaker in one slot and put another 30 amp breaker in the slot 2 below that one, not the adjacent one. Those joined together to power the 240 outlet. Well, it works so I'm guessing he's right, but does that make sense? When I sell the house am I going to be told it's not up to code?
  20. I've had T-vision for about a month now. I'm pretty happy with it. Good picture, gets LHN, Fox, FS1, and ABC so all Horns games are covered. Works on Apple TV, Fire TV and iPad.
  21. Maybe I didn't explain this well enough. I think the 3 previous years were enough to get him fired. And I think he should be fired. If he'd improved from year 1 to year 3 and then this season occurred, I wouldn't feel the same way.
  22. Again, I said I don't disagree with the opinion and I'm not trying to legitimize it. I'd be okay with hiring another coach now or the end of the season. But not based on this year. This team has had limited practices, limited scrimmages and was trying to implement a new offensive and defensive scheme. My issues were from years previous that led up to this year and the need to implement the new schemes in the first place.
  23. While I agree with your opinion, it is worth noting that there have been a serious amount of top 25 upsets this year, more than any previous year I can remember. So while all teams have had the same issues, there are quite a few in the same boat that we are.
  24. This is one of the most horribly written petitions I've ever seen. Ashamed that I graduated from the same law school as the attorney who signed it. And big surprise, the attorney that owns the firm graduated from a&m.
  25. I did say that with 25% I'm hoping they won't have a problem. Just want people more familiar with the area to confirm. And I was hoping someone would reveal the super top-secret route to get into the Fair Grounds I've been hearing about for decades. I kind of like the sons I got, identical twins was kind a novelty growing up and both got into UT, so don't need new ones.
