  1. If we don't get a single run with the bases juiced and no outs, I'm going to break something.
  2. No shit. We hit everything to the deepest and highest fence. Nothing into the Crawford Boxes.
  3. Tried out the new tank blind and feeder last week in Scurry County and got this hog. We had been watching him and his cutters on the game cam for a while before I finally got out there. I let both of my sons have shots at him the first two nights - one missed and the other couldn't find him in scope the next night and scared him off talking about it - so I got the third shot a few nights later and didn't miss. Front quartering shot in the shoulder on the right hand side (on the bottom side in the pic). He ran into the creek and I didn't want to chase him down there in the dark so I waited until the next morning. By then the coyotes had found him and tore him up pretty good... but the head was untouched so I cut it off with the chainsaw and took it to the taxidermist to do a Euro mount. Funny thing, before I shot this one, we had multiple lone pigs and a sounder of babies coming every night. After I got this one 10 days ago we haven't see a single pig since.
  4. I don't understand how they could have seen anything definitive there to justify overturning the call. We have been on the shit side of every video replay I've seen this season.
  5. $200 is just a couple of cases of shotgun shells and then shipping is free. Pretty hard to beat that. To his credit, that's his shipping charge all the time, even when there's not a sale. Very highly recommend company for me - most stuff will ship the same day and get to Texas customers in just 1-2 days.
  6. FYI - SG Ammo is having a pretty decent closeout sale right now. Their prices are already pretty good, but some of the sale stuff is 20-30% below that, and they have extremely cheap shipping. Give it a look.
  7. LOL I’m just talking about pics of the porch and the bar and how it’s laid out and stuff like that. Genuinely curious about your set up just to get ideas for my own place. No identifying details wanted at all. Just thing your place looks really cool on the inside.
  8. Shank, we need some aerial photos and perhaps a diagram or map of your compound. I'm intrigued by every picture you post.
  9. I noticed over the weekend that some of the wires had been stretched and pulled. In theory I should be pissed at these little buggers but it's so dry right now and there is so little for them to eat, it's hard to get mad. Then again, these are f-cking raccoons and I have no love for them, so yeah, while it may be hard, I'm still pissed. (please excuse the dust over the IR lens - the wind has been bad for the past week)
  10. It was just a big rat snake. I have them all over my place. I saw him the other day in the grass next to the coop and he ran off and I figured he would be back. As soon as I opened the door last Wednesday and didn't see any eggs in the nest, I knew who was responsible. Opened the door a little bit more and he was coiled up in the corner digesting his meal in the shade. I keep a 22 revolver in my mule loaded with rat shot. Hard to miss from 3 feet away and easy to pop 2-3 shots in a row. I hate killing snakes but I like my chickens and eggs more and once they get in the first time they just keep coming back for more free meals.
  11. I have one rule when it comes to killing snakes: You are free to wander around the farm all you want and I'll even stop and watch you and think you are cool. But if I catch you inside the coop, then you're considered irredeemable and may god have mercy on your egg thieving soul.
  12. La Niña, man. Except for that little sliver north of San Angelo, the whole western half of the state is dry. I used to not pay as much attention to it until I owned land of my own and now I'm checking the weather and the long term forecasts constantly.
  13. Cellular cams changed my opinion. I really disliked going and pulling cards, now I get almost instant alerts on my phone. Much better and very handy for sitting in the blind (or house watching TV!) waiting for a pig or coyote to come up to the feeder in the dark. I will say that cellular cameras run the batteries down more quickly. Gonna try a solar one sometime soon.
  14. We have two huge gangs that have started coming around regularly. No big gobblers yet but several jakes. Might have some nice ones next year.
  15. I have the same gun except with the brown wood laminate stock and a blued barrel. I put a red dot on it and it can put the hurt on a heavy gong from 150 yards. Looking back, I paid $649 for it in 2018, so that's 25% of what they want for this one, which is admittedly fancier but not that much fancier. 45-70 auto is cool. Now I'm pretty sure I need one.
  16. I mean the price. That's twice what it was a year ago.
  17. Our place in Scurry County is just over a section as well. Thirty years ago my uncle carved out 20 acres on one corner and bought out his three siblings and built a house. When he died last year, my aunt wanted to move back to town and declared she was going to sell the house and the 20 acres. Luckily I had the wherewithal and the means to buy it from her and keep it in the family. I overpaid by about 10-20% or so, but I didn't want to haggle with an old widow lady and I figured it was worth it to keep it in the family for exactly that reason. My brothers and I are going to own all of the rest of that land someday and I didn't want it carved up into little pieces.
  18. 2019 was a great year for stockpiling. Here are two of the best I have found so far.
  19. A lot of police stations nowadays, including the one here in Sugar Land, have a "Craigslist zone" in their parking lot where people can meet to consummate online transactions. Yours might too. That will cut down real quick on anyone with ill intent.
  20. Hello? Anybody there? I wanted to let you know that you're out of corn.
