  1. 2019 was a great year for stockpiling. Here are two of the best I have found so far.
  2. A lot of police stations nowadays, including the one here in Sugar Land, have a "Craigslist zone" in their parking lot where people can meet to consummate online transactions. Yours might too. That will cut down real quick on anyone with ill intent.
  3. Hello? Anybody there? I wanted to let you know that you're out of corn.
  4. I intend to try and sleep in mine. It's freaking HUGE on the inside. I've been in deer blinds that are barely big enough for two chairs. This one has enough room for a card table and 4 chairs. Plenty of room to stretch out on the floor and sleep.
  5. That's how you lose all your privileges forever. Jesus. "Dumbfuck" is definitely the right word.
  6. Man that's sweet.
  7. 100% this. One thing I like is that I can order freight shipments and not have to worry about scheduling a delivery time and asking for a truck with a lift etc etc. As long as it's a normal size pallet, I can specific "dock pickup" then drive to the freight terminal in my pickup and when I get back to the farm I can just unload it with the pallet forks. A lot more convenient than wasting a whole day waiting for the delivery guy to finally show up.
  8. I know several dudes who fell for the "Holiday Bourbon Exchange" last Christmas on Facebook. Exact same thing except the money was laundered into booze. You never got anything back unless you recruited more dumbasses into the pyramid.
  9. This is only funny because Mrs CL likes to flatter herself about how informed she is about the news.
  10. I have both the 10/22 and a Marlin Model 60. Prefer shooting the Marlin but the tubular magazine is kind of limiting. With the Ruger you can just pop in a new mag or even get 30 or 100 round mags.
  11. Picked up the new tank blind and a new EZ feeder yesterday. Very pleased with both.
  12. I am glad Mrs CL includes me on the texts to her parents so I can proofread in real time.
  13. Spaulding, that wheel behind the skunk is one of my coops that has 20 six week old pullets inside. A week ago it had 24 five week old pullets. I thought it was a raccoon that had done the deed, so I set a trap. But instead I caught a much bigger skunk on Friday and I didn't even think twice about popping him with the 22 and throwing his nasty stinky ass over the fence. I'm pretty sure this guy was the chick killer. But this coop is in my wife's vegetable garden and skunks are beneficial. They eat insects and grubs and snails. This one today was tiny and I felt guilty about killing it considering that I had already made some improvements to the coop and I seriously doubted that it could bother the chicks at this point. It was probably more attracted to the cat food in the trap and not the chicks, honestly. So I did a little reading and decided I could try and let it go. The advice was to hold a blanket or a towel in front of you and slowly walk towards it from the front, then throw the towel over it and be sure to cover its tail so it couldn't hop up and turn around and spray. So I did that and it calmly lied under the towel while I reached down and pulled back on the spring and freed its front foot from the trap. It stayed there for a few seconds after it was free and then it took off for the drainage ditch before I could get a good video. I actually feel good that I didn't kill it.
  14. That sucker was fast!
  15. I just freed a skunk from a dogproof raccoon trap without getting sprayed. Someone give me a merit badge. IMG_8399(1).mp4
  16. When I was a kid 40 years ago I remember there being jackrabbits and cottontails all over Scurry County. My dad made a comment the other day that the coyotes have to work harder for food now that the rabbits are gone. That made me realize that I hadn't seen a rabbit on our place in years. Saw this last night at the feeder.
  17. Check out the size of this fat MFer. Leave some corn for the others!
  18. Looks like at least one lone boar has finally found my new feeder at the Scurry County ranch. I baited a hole earlier this week with nasty strawberry shit and the Sawaiian Crush and he stayed there for over an hour last night. We are going to eventually replace this old barrel feeder with an EZ-Fill. Also got a call earlier this week that my tank blind is ready for pickup. It's going to go on a hill overlooking this spot. Hopefully we can get the pigs coming regularly now if we keep the bait hole filled. Might make for some fun summer nights.
  19. Thought I had the video figured out on the scope. Guess not. Did get a cool night vision video from my security camera on my back porch. Does that count?
  20. Generally speaking, about 15-20 pairs of Tecovas. His base price - red kangaroo with no adornments, which I have a pair that I use to work at the ranch and to hunt - is equal to about 8-9 pairs.
  21. Got my latest (3rd) pair of Maida's today just in time for the rodeo and also a funeral I have to attend this weekend. Chocolate French calf. Perfect fit just like the first two pair. Love Sal. Everyone go give him money and wait 4-6 months. You won't be disappointed.
  22. I've gotta learn to do that.
  23. Wet brine or dry brine? I'm guessing dry. Interested to try that tip. I've also done the mayonnaise thing and it turned out crispy but also kind of greasy.
  24. The weeds comment was already pure surly.
  25. LOL - It's on the list for this weekend. The entire yard is a mess from all of the workers we've had the past month replacing the roof and all of the siding. The house looks great but the yard looks terrible with all of the dead grass and dust. Those weeds are the the least of it.
