  1. This big ugly just showed up at my barn feeder and there is nobody there at the house tonight. I hope he comes back next week when I am in town so I can perforate him.
  2. Very nice ending for a game I could give two shits about.
  3. My brother is a Lubbock Cooper resident. His description of SOC after last week’s playoff game was akin to the [s]84[/s] 85 Bears. “It was just not fair.”
  4. This was the point I was trying to make earlier. Paetow slipped through the cracks because it’s a new school and kids moved in. They drew the attendance lines in the wrong place. The reason all the other schools aren’t perennially good is because Katy High recruits the junior highs on the down low and parents of good players just happen to find new homes and apartments in the attendance zone when those kids start high high school. Same thing will eventually happen to Paetow. Some of it is explicit recruiting, but most of it is informally driven by the reputation. Similarly, they opened a new secondary school complex in my kids’ district this year and because the population in that area is so low they allowed families to apply to attend the new school to help prop up the numbers. All of the good underclassman athletes from the other schools ended up there and they ran the table in subvarsity football and just killed everyone else from JV down to 7th grade. Some accusations of recruiting by the coaches and some really upset parents but if people choose to send there kids there on their own based on the reputation there’s not a lot that can be done about it.
  5. It's funny cuz it's true. The district athletic department is run for the benefit of Katy High football. Somebody somewhere is getting fired for allowing this to happen.
  6. Paetow wins state in their second or third year of having a varsity team.
  7. No way a high school official changes that on replay.
  8. Exactly. That was a long field goal from the left hash for a high school kicker.
  9. My son's freshman team (George Ranch) played Paetow's freshman team this year and got absolutely annihilated. Kids were huge and fast. They will be good for a while.
  10. There's a post in the hunting thread about a wife who managed to set a riding mower on fire.... reminded me of Mrs CL earlier this fall. She had decided that she no longer liked the plastic cattle troughs on our property and wanted to replace then with galvanized because they "look bad and are bad for the environment." OK, whatever, but I can't help until next weekend. This is not a pressing need and I'm booked up with other stuff. So she gets our farm truck and drives to Tractor Supply herself and gets two galvanized water troughs and then decides she'll go drop them off in the pasture before it gets dark. I warn her that's not a good idea so late in the day. Three hours later, well after dark, she calls me to come get her. The truck is stuck in a ditch out in the pasture and she's really sorry. She's crying and she's covered in mud and she lost a boot trying to walk through the mud to get back to her car and her phone. I tell her that I'll pull the truck out with the tractor the next morning when it gets light. Shouldn't be too difficult. She's still crying because she doesn't want me mad at her and she's really really sorry etc etc. I actually kind of feel sorry for her by the end. The next morning as we're heading back out there, we're talking and I offhandedly mention that it must be really stuck if she couldn't get it out with four wheel drive. "It has four wheel drive?" I'm starting to think I'm not going to need the tractor. Took me about 15 seconds to get It out.
  11. LOL - Dumb wives thread is over there 👉
  12. This is a very astute point. Jimmy drafted and signed a bunch of really young guys and they came up in his system and formed the successful organization that it was. He didn't inherit a bunch of older players and there wasn't an ego issue there. Again, Barry probably deserves his own praise too for not fucking with the system and realizing what he was dealing with. Barry let it ride and it paid off with three divisional championships and a Super Bowl and then he was smart enough further to realize the run was over after the fourth year and resigned on his own. Still a POS but a smart POS for sure.
  13. Mine is a Mule Pro FXT, so I've got the space up front for the vertical. I do like those grips, though. Could you not mount on the inside of the rear grill (i.e. headache rack) and thus stay protected from the elements?
  14. I like that too. Are the clamps just mounted directly onto the rear grill? Looks like it.
  15. An AR is the type of gun I'd want to drive around with for quick shots. For hunting rifles, I'd just put the gun in a soft case (obviously unloaded) and keep it in the front seat with me until I got to the blind. There are some vertical rifle holders mounted to the floorboard that are available that will hold an AR. I'd be interested in one of those.
  16. It can be both. Deep down he's a dick and his struggles in the NFL exposed what was already there.
  17. Yeah, Jimmy Johnson literally rebuilt the organization (it sure as hell wasn't Jerry). He had an eye for talent and got (really) lucky with the Herschel Walker trade. Barry didn't do anything except be smart enough to stay out of the way of the established players and assistants. In a way that's pretty admirable, too, but you can't compare Jimmy and Barry. My son was asking me this morning about Kingsbury and after thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that he wasn't ever a mega-successful college head coach at a football factory, so it's also very hard to compare him to Jimmy or to Urban. Kingsbury was a QB whisperer assistant who was a mediocre head coach and now he's a successful NFL head coach who is a QB whisperer again. I'd say that Kingsbury is the opposite of Urban: not suited to be a rah-rah CFB general but definitely an X's and O's guy.
  18. Not sure. I think a big part of his flameout had to do with the fact that the NFL wasn't as easy as he thought it would be compared to college.
  19. Does anyone else think the aggy twitter theme thing (I'm old, I don't know what these little videos are called) looks a lot like vintage porn graphics on the side of VHS boxes? Or is it just me? Or is it aggy and it's just obvious? I mean seriously...
  20. Close thread and declare a winner.
  21. I left at halftime to go do some chores. My bad for being presumptuous.
  22. Yes, the silver looks a lot better with the navy jerseys. The silver pants were an integral part of the "new blue" outfit back in the 80's. I remember when they debuted way back in the day... I think vs Washington. The old bad luck jerseys were royal blue with gray or white pants. I've been explaining to my 14 yo son about the "bad luck" old blue uniforms and how Washington and the Eagles would (and still do) regularly wear white at home vs Dallas so as to force the Cowboys to wear blue. It was fun seeing him read the tweet this morning about uniform colors and understand why.
