  1. Another one dropped last night. No paternity test needed.
  2. As Jerry Clower used to put it.... "Grave. Yard. Dead!"
  3. By jove, he's right. http://www.rstshells.com/store/c/30-Pigeon-Loads.aspx Something I've never participated in, but I've heard stories of the "old days" before it mostly went underground. I can definitely see how those loads do the trick: hot and fast and a whole lot of tiny pellets to knock down the target quick before it gets out of bounds.
  4. Had not considered that but you might be right.
  5. Shit man, technically you can't bring your own guns in from out of state. You have to transfer them to CA FFL and then literally buy them back but only if they meet all the requirements and hoops jumping as a new purchase. How that's not 2A violation - literally an infringement - I have no idea. https://oag.ca.gov/firearms/ab991 All that being said, I'm 110% sure there are a shit ton of guns in state that never went through any of those procedures. Just don't get caught by the cops with one in your possession, I guess.
  6. I thought so at first too, but 1 1/4 is too heavy for ATA and #9 is too small (too light) for the distances they shoot at. That's a really fucked up combination, honestly.
  7. Holy shot. These just arrived from UPS. Trying to figure out how old they are. It's definitely the old packaging and hull color. (dull greenish, not bright yellow) But hell, it's 20 gauge #9 skeet shells. I'm not complaining.
  8. "We can sell anything for $15, even the spare parts in the garage!"
  9. Anybody have any idea what purpose one would use something like this? 1 1/4 is too heavy for any normal shooting sport I am familiar with and #9 is a weird choice for anything long range. The only thing I can remotely think is fast high flying live birds, but why not just use a tighter choke with a bigger shot to carry more energy? The other use I can think of is if your shoulder isn't sore enough and you need more bruises on it.
  10. Because those guns are too effective, amirite?
  11. Show whatever polls you want, but when the actual proposals are made and people find out the details, support will drop. That's the way all political policy works. Support in general, opposition to the actual details of implementation. Going to leave it there and not CR this fucker up. Bottom line is that a not insignificant share of the population believes it will be harder to buy guns and ammo in the future so current demand has increased and caused shortages of both. Whether you think that's reasonable or not doesn't change the situation.
  12. I doubt whether it's a majority or not, but in any case, that's the kind of incrementalism that will cause the hype to stay stoked up.
  13. FWIW, the $15 20 ga stuff at Lucky Gunner was a higher quality Federal product (Gold Medal with brass) and #9. The $18 stuff was a lower product (Top Gun with steel) and #8. So I bought some of the former since 20 ga #9 has been so hard to find. Even for that price I'm glad I got it. Skeet shooters gotta do what we gotta do.
  14. Yep, I bought some of that, especially since it was #9. Expensive as hell for something mid-tier, but I have to preserve my limited supply of AA 20ga for competition and I'll practice with this stupid expensive stuff.
  15. Appreciate the rec, but not surprisingly that's all sold out, too.
  16. Check it out! 20 gauge ammo! For 18 fucking bucks a box. Ho-lee Shit. https://www.lg-outdoors.com/Product/Details/6077191?source=A10001
  17. Still trying to wrap my mind around this ammo shortage. It's one thing for first timers to go out and buy new guns and buy up all of the 5.56 and 9mm, it's entirely another for competition shotgun ammo to be out of stock everywhere. Aside from buckshot and slugs, there's not a single 20 gauge box of any size available on Ammoseek and there hasn't been for at least 3-4 weeks. Same on Academy.com and Cabelas and Bass Pro. I didn't know there were so many new bird hunters buying up all the ammo in the offseason. LOL I am loading up on 1.125 #9 12 gauge whenever I can find some and funnily enough, there is PLENTY of 28 gauge to be had. Glad I already had a stockpile that will get me through this year but if this keeps up, next year might be tight.
  18. We are building a house right now and that was one of the first things on our list for the architect. I am so excited.
  19. I have one of those. Love it. I carry it in my right pocket in a pocket holster and it works great. A LOT more comfortable than a holster inside the waistband. Definitely my preferred way to carry and I like shooting the Hellcat more than the P365. EDIT: I've had it over a year and haven't had any problems with it, FWIW
  20. This one is a little bit intellectual, but Mrs CL mentioned to me the other day that she had never read Animal Farm or 1984. I jokingly told her last night that her preteen children are now more well read than she is since they have now read Orwell. She responds, "I don't care. That whole War of the Worlds thing was terrible." "Do you mean "H.G. Wells or Orson Wells, because neither one wrote 1984?" "Obviously the first guy. Wasn't Orson Wells a fat guy who sold wine?" I give her half credit on that one answer.
  21. I started with the single shot 20 gauge.... and my uncle has an 870 in sixteen gauge that his grandson will probably end up with, but I will snag it if it comes to that someday. When I was younger I thought an 870 wingmaster with a fixed modified choke was the shit. Took me a while but I finally found one of my own in a pawn shop. Now it sits in my safe because that damn thing feels like a cannon. One of my sons has an A400 20 gauge that he has done really well with, but I still still like my 1100. It's heavier and swings better.
  22. A 20 gauge 1100 is the world's most perfect gun for dove.
