  1. I haven't been inside a retail store of any kind since June (not because I'm scared - the opposite, actually), so makes sense I wouldn't have seen that. Thanks for the update.
  2. I just ordered some 12 gauge target shells from Academy for curbside pickup and it appears that there is no longer a "three box limit" like they had a couple of months ago. When did this change and is it for all ammo or just shotgun shells? It's a shame that they still don't have the "cheapest on the internet with free shipping price" but the price is still the lowest if you're willing to get in the car and drive over there.
  3. In Houston, but thanks for the PM tip even if it didn't work out.
  4. How did that TCU +12 opening line work out for us?
  5. Yep. It’s a fun little gun for taking shots at the birds as they dart around my place. I could use something bigger but it wouldn’t be as sporting.
  6. Did a couple of beer can chickens and twice baked potatoes last night on the egg. Used cherry wood for the first time ever and it gave the chicken an outstanding smoky flavor. Sorry no pics.
  7. Yes, that's what someone else said when I brought it up last night during the Astros game. "Overpressure. Don't shoot it again. Call them to make sure they know." Dang. Now to find some more #8 410 for last two weeks of dove season.
  8. This is annoying as hell. Any idea what the problem is or just bad ammo? Shooting a Remington 1100 this morning. The hull is getting stuck in the breach so tight that the extractor is ripping a piece off of the rim. No idea why the primer is popping out, either. I was able to knock out the hull with a cleaning rod both times it did this. (sorry for the bad pic at the bottom) Afterwards I went back shot 3-4 pairs in a row with some AA 1200 FPS #9 and it cycled fine. Wondering if the PMC is just bad ammo, which would suck because it's so hard to find .410 shells nowadays and I still have have 8 boxes left. I shot this same ammo a year ago and didn't have any problems. I might try it in a OU or single shot tomorrow and see if it does the same thing.
  9. Haven’t measured but they are about 2-3 inches taller than my Tecovas and the shaft circumference is all around my calf and goes all the way to the ankle, so they still appear to be very proportional from the side but look taller and skinnier head on. These are literally the base model and were $2,600. I was so pleased with the fancy full quill ostrich he did for me that I wanted something more to wear everyday that fit the same way, so I ordered these. These don’t bind the top of my ankle/foot like the Tecovas do, which I never noticed until Sal pointed it out as to why it was so much easier in comparison to take the Maida boots off. The difference between bespoke and off the shelf is night and day. Well worth the high cost IMO.
  10. Finally picked up my second pair of Maidas this week. Plain red kangaroo intended to be everyday walking around boots. Love the fit and the quality of the construction. They slide right on and off and the arch is perfect. Love these boots. Already thinking about my next pair. Maybe some dark brown or chocolate elephant with some extra fancy adornments on the shaft.
  11. Doves have finally showed up at my place in Fort Bend. Just in time for some weekend shooting tomorrow. Woohoo.
  12. LOL I was using both my BBQ guru AND my thermopro for both the grate and the butt. (four probes total) Thermometer redundancy!
  13. Definitely was Roy Williams. Saw him in a playoff game his junior year and he was the proverbial man among boys. Just so much bigger and faster than the opposing players.
  14. And for God's sake, NEVER tell her about a random dream you had just because you find it amusing. I had a dream once that I was in JUNIOR HIGH and had a Asian girlfriend. I thought it was funny because it was so random. She took it as proof that I was planning to cheat on her with the first wily Vietnamese girl I could find. Total rookie newlywed mistake and now for the past 16+ years as far my wife knows, I don't dream when I sleep.
  15. Came into my study just now and announced that today was the day she was finally going to walk the 4 miles to work along a rural farm to market road. You know, the morning after the cold front just passed through and it's still breezy with scattered rain showers. And also still dark outside. I voice my skepticism with this plan but of course, tone.
  16. Thanks, I thought it was excessively long, too, but my Franklins book said 270° and that was what I did. How much hotter would you recommend?
  17. I tried one last night for the first time, also smoked and reversed seared with salt and pepper rub. Also did a pot of pinto beans "Santa Maria" style (just barracho beans without jalapeño or cilantro) and garlic bread. It was all tremendously tasty and very easy. Going to need to add that to the rotation for weekend dinners.
  18. Jeff is back broadcasting today and had the the most dramatic flat tire ever.
  19. I texted that to a friend and he insisted it must be fake, but I think that woman is a real on-air presenter at Accuweather. https://www.facebook.com/MelissaConstanzer/ https://twitter.com/ConstanzerWx
  20. Looks like she took a direct hit and was getting pounded all night.
  21. I saw one of these in the middle of Highway 36 the other day just outside of Rosenberg on the Fort Bend-Austin County line. Would have had no idea what it was had I not seen this thread first.
  22. Only thing I have see west of Beaumont so far is a single GFS ensemble member. They just don't make it to Texas in October. We should be fine, but it's going to be pretty close for comfort.
  23. Guess I need to go spend a day packing up my yard and my farm so as to protect Houston like I did last month.
