  1. Regarding Epps, I hope he watched Moss for LSU in the title game. It would seem he could fill a similar role if he worked at it. RE Sam: I watched the Alamo Bowl with some friends (2 Gators, 2 War Eagle Tigers) and one of them asked what happened to Sam this year, because he thought he would have had an awesome season. I replied that he had a pretty good season, but that our team was so shitty that it made him look shitty by default. About 5 minutes later they showed the stat that his offensive yardage fell between Colt's best year and Vince's best year at 2nd all time at Texas for a single season. Everyone's reaction was "holy shit, I would have never guessed that."
  2. He doesn't even know who we play next. I always thought that was some idiotic coach speak, but after this season I guess it must actually be true.
  3. More importantly, does he have any connection to Rutgers?
  4. I gotta chime in and say that I like a lot of Isbell stuff, but I wasn't there initially. It took me a while to find the stuff I like because I was late to the party and most of his new stuff seemed so depressing. This is coming from a guy that has Mandolin Orange and Trampled by Turtles at the top of his playlist, so I know depressing, but he takes it to a new level. He is a fantastic musician, and I absolutely love alot of his stuff (Last of my Kind, If it Takes a Lifetime, Alabama Pines) but songs like Cumberland Gap have me looking for the next button.
  5. Does Mensa keep a list of members by state? From what I have read, I would expect the New Mexico numbers to be low.
  6. In on page 200! We did it fam! I'm so glad I was able to contribute in some small way.
  7. So pretty much the exact opposite of Herman. Got it. Not sure that cojones will matter, but I have almost zero confidence that our players will be coached well enough to win that game.
  8. I was about to post the same thing. Pretty sure that was what I heard, but never rewound to confirm. Thanks for the confirmation. And props to Herbstreit for admitting the truth.
  9. It is also why the SEC has the right marketing plan. They have built their image as the best conference and it matters. The Big 12 and Texas / OU can learn something from that. I think that the Big 12 just makes the most sense for Texas long term. If that is the case, we need to improve (obviously) but we also need to help push the Big 12 brand (minus Baylor).
  10. Can't burn a dumpster in a vacuum. No doubt it is a Mensa move.
  11. “If we were to play a more competitive schedule at home, that would cause me to want to go,” Swoops continues. “There’s nothing better than going to see a good game in person.” This Ohio State kid gets it. Good matchups are worth seeing, and 70-80% of college games are dogshit matchups for the best teams. So no one cares. And $20 may seem like pennies to these schools, but that is a lot of cash to college kids, especially to watch a 50 point blow out against some "who cares" opponent. I'm all for consolidation. Get rid of the bottom half and let them play their own national championship. Minimize the cupcake games to no more than 2 per team and interest and attendence will go back up. How many weekends in a season can you look at the whole lineup and say "who cares"? Definitely more than you should. The cross sectional LSU / Texas games are very rare but they draw a ton of interest.
  12. Bobby Britt has a cool story. I am a HUGE Mandolin Orange fan, so that makes his story cooler to me. Lots of surgery for his cleft palate. I've seen videos where he is wearing a piece to hold his violin against to keep it off of his chin. https://www.newsobserver.com/entertainment/article218408195.html
  13. Mandolin Orange was a fantastic show. Wish they played a bigger number of old songs rather than every song off of the new album. Trampled by Turtles did the same thing.
  14. I was a huge Femmes fan back in the 90s, but never got the chance to see them live. They usually played places that I wasn't old enough to get into as a high schooler. "Great guy" wouldn't have been my guess for Gano though. That guy wrote some crazy shit. Country Death Song was one I was fascinated and horrified by at the same time. Would love to go to that concert though. I was a big fan of both a few decades back.
  15. I'm 2 blocks off of the Southernmost Point, which is one of the venues they sell with the tickets. Apparently the Turnpike Troubadours stayed in our cottages when they were at Mile 0 last year. They have a trolley system to get you around to the venues. REK obviously brought some of his favorites along for the ride. I heard High Road and immediately added Fullbright to my must see list for the concert.
  16. The OP and I must live down the street from each other. I have never done 30A Songwriters Fest for the reasons he mentions, it is expensive and crowded, so I stay away. But I have always wanted to go and will at some point. My daughter went to her first Hangout Fest last year. I have taught her well, and she was all in to see the Lumineers first and foremost. She wants to go because of The Head and the Heart this year, but scalpers bought the damn thing out already and doubled the cost to attend. I have absolutely zero interest in being on a beach in the sun all day surrounded by 20 year olds, so I know I have hit the "get off my lawn age." I am going with a group of friends to Mile 0 this year, they all went last year and loved it. I'm pretty pumped, since the set up seems great for me. We are staying in a group of cottages a block from Duval that was purchased as part of our passes for the concert, so there is a shuttle route and other perks (like a boat trip with performers) and the venues range from local bars to beach front concerts. Key West in January means highs in the low 80s and lows at night in the 60s or so. Plus the line up kicks ass. A group of friends went to Steamboat for the concert the red dirt festival there, and the Winter Wondergrass seems like a cool deal too. I would go to either one of those with the right group. Bonnarroo has a fantastic lineup this year, but I'm too old for that scene. Bottlerock looks awesome, but that is the other side of the country for me, so it is unlikely any time soon. Back in the day, the best I went to was the Sunshine Daydream Festival in Live Oak, Florida. It is a camp ground in the middle of nowhere, and there must not have been any cops for miles because it was like what I think Woodstock must have been like. Absolutely zero rules and drum circles throughout the night. Old and In the Way was the headliner, and it was mainly hippies dancing to awesome bluegrass. Everyone knows Jazzfest in NOLA, but the one that is WAY underated is French Quarter Fest. It is all local bands, so it is a lot of Zydeco and brass bands, but the variety is awesome and it is in April so the weather is fantastic for just wandering the FQ and seeing a few songs at each stop. I haven't gone specifically for it, but have been there for other things while it was going on and loved it every time.
  17. Crockett and Robison will both be at the Mile 0 Fest in Key West that I'm headed to at the end of the month. Looking forward to both. Others I'm looking forward to (other than the obvious - Lucero, American Aquarium, REK and Isbell) are The Steel Woods, Brandon Rhyder and John Fullbright. Any fans? Anybody seen the lineup and have any other must sees? https://mile0fest.com/line-up/
  18. I saw them in 94 in Texas Memorial Stadium. They were fantastic. Always told the wife I would take her and did so about 4 or 5 years ago for the "story of the Eagles" that followed the documentary you mentioned. That might have been even better because of all of the commentary they added to the sets, but that first show was hard to top. Both concerts sounded just like the radio. I'm headed to Mile 0 Fest in Key West at the end of the month. REK and Isbell headlining with a ton of good names on the undercard. Seems that they finally made a perfect festival for the old folks.
  19. I saw him open for Mandolin Orange in Jackson, MS. Had never heard him until I knew he was the opening act. Started listening and I was hooked. Cheap Wine is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Great story teller. Funny story. My buddy went to the back looking at tshirts after Parr and before MO and Charlie was standing there. My friend starts a conversation with him and tells him we drove four hours for the show. His response "for this shit?"
  20. I shoulda used the sarcasm font. Anything over 30-40% seems idiotic and lacking detail to me
  21. Thought Mensa said we don't worry unless it is 90%.
