  1. Thought the leadoff Springer Dinger might have lit a fire last night, but obviously it wasn't enough. The call being upheld on Bregman at first felt like a real dagger to me last night. Little things can spark rallies.
  2. My favorite these days. Aberlour 16. I like the 16 best, 12 second, and 18 third (which is nice for price considerations).
  3. Queso especial starter, Migas & fajitas, and 2 mexican martinis at Trudy's is one of my favorite meals. Don't hate.
  4. Walking from those hotels to your theater will be faster than the subway. You should take the subway when going substantial distances. Walk everywhere you can (comfortably of course). If you need to stop and check your map, step to one side or another.
  5. Not really concerned, I just wish they'd start hitting to make the games more enjoyable to watch.
  6. For anybody wondering, the boil was thoroughly enjoyable. Weather was obviously nice. The boilers were from Katy, TX. Crawfish were good size and seasoned well. Only complaint was they just did one huge batch of sides (corn, sausage, and potatoes) and kept them in a cooler. They tasted good, but they were cold. I'd guess I went through 8 or 9 lbs.
  7. A few mentions in the Steak thread brought this to mind (Eddie V's $1/$2 oysters and Al Biernat's which I haven't been to). What are your favorites? Appreciate both food and drink happy hours. What's the best outdoor/patio place with a great happy hour? Anywhere with live music? Across the street from my work is Tortaco, which has $3 draft beers and $2 off cocktails. Nice patio (for downtown) and good bar service. Free chips and salsa (warm green salsa, but I like it). I'm probably biased because it's so convenient for me. I like the daily deals at Bryan St. Tavern, but only been a couple times when the weather wasn't great. Have heard it's a good place to sit out back.
  8. Anybody gone with a really young kid? (like less than 12 months) If so, how did it go? I think I'd be a little concerned about the air pollution. I only ask because I'm itching to go back, but just had a kid a month ago.
  9. We did not have time for a Napali Coast hike. We did do both a boat cruise (through blue dolphin I think), as well as a helicopter tour that of course included the coast. I thought the views from the water were more awe inspiring. Only referring to the Napali Coast. The helicopter tour was badass, and obviously covered a lot more. Note on the boat cruise though, would probably stay away if you get sea sick. I don't and didn't, but many others did.
  10. Great city with great food, but there's no way my 4 days there could compete with a local. I will submit the Ultimate Coconut Cake at the Peninsula Grill as easily the best piece of cake I've ever had. We had one shipped in for our wedding. We did not eat dinner there, so can't comment on their main menu.
  11. To each their own. I don't notice the "labor" at all. Just go on auto-pilot and murder those delicious buggers. Would also say part of the fun is the social aspect of peeling, eating, and drinking beer with dirty hands at a big long table with other enthusiasts.
  12. This may seem odd, but I think it's also nice have more casual/lower end options when you just one a couple rolls with some beer and sake. On that note I submit Oishii. Rolls are pretty cheap, but you can definitely still rack up a bill if you get into the special rolls and high end sushi/sashimi.
  13. Anybody going to this? Happen to know if the people doing the boiling are good at it? I think I'm going to give it a shot no matter what, but figured I'd ask. https://www.texasexes.org/event/dallas/2897

Very much enjoyed the burger I had recently at The Heights Lakewood. We liked everything we had there, including the french onion soup and salmon. I may have been wearing some rose colored glasses because it's quite close to my house and the kitchen is open late so I was very excited to begin with.

Only been to Nick and Sam's once and was completely underwhelmed by both the food and service. I'm still somewhat new to the city and have more exploring to do, but Bob's on Lemmon is easily the best steakhouse experience I've had so far. I think it obviously depends on what type of scene you're looking for though. Al Biernat's is next on my list based on this thread.
  17. I’m almost to the stadium. Sitting a few sections over in 13. How does this work? I yell Muledick when it gets quiet enough? PM if have any interest in a beer with a fellow Stros fan.
  18. We were sent to La Castela (http://restaurantelacastela.com/) based on a recommendation from a Madrileño we met during some other travels who said it was his favorite restaurant. Take recs from the waiter based on what's good. We were the only tourists there, and it was probably the best meal we had while in Madrid. It's a tapas bar in front, with restaurant in the back. I would say skip the tapas bar to save room. I've sent others who had similar experiences. Madrid has a bustling live music scene, and it's a good way to do as the locals do. We went to a place called Cafe La Palma that was really cool. Obviously you would just need to check schedules of places when you're there. Suggest doing a guided food tour in San Sebastian. There are hundreds of tapas places, and of course not all of them are good. We did a private tour. The guide takes you to the best places, orders their specialty, takes care of paying, etc. The history lessons while walking around are of course an added perk. I could go on. We spent a month in Spain for our honeymoon. Such a badass place. Eat all the jamon iberico de bellota.
  19. I'm stuck here in Dallas. Will be sporting my Stros gear tomorrow and Saturday. Section 13 tomorrow, not sure on Saturday yet.
  20. Same problem here. My small workaround was to go to my most frequented threads (LOL pics, Holy Shit pics, stupid shit wives do, etc) on my phone, then emailed links to those threads to myself. Now I just go to the email and can navigate to the front page of those threads. Obviously still sucks as it's no help for visiting new threads, but it's somethin'.
  21. I'm a complete amateur in this arena. Grew up mowing lawns and basic landscaping, but never had to "care" for my own. Fast forward and I just moved into my first house. The backyard is in very bad shape. I will be hiring somebody to help me level the lawn. Not sure whether I'll have them do sod as well or if I'll take that on. My first question is in regard to these little piles of excavated dirt that are everywhere (see below). A little googling seems to infer they are just from earthworms. I would assume that would be a good thing? My concern is that they are infant graboids that will eventually grow up and devour my family.
  22. I have kind of the same issue, but noticed that the only part of the site that is blocked is the LULZ home page. I can go to any other page, and I can visit threads in LULZ via direct links that I emailed myself from my phone. Don't know if there is something on the LULZ home page that raises a red flag, but just FYI.
