  1. I went down the rabbit hole of watching a bunch of courtroom videos. Fuck that waste of space and tax payer money. I have no idea how the judge kept her cool through all of it. I don't know anything about courtroom procedure, but how was he not in contempt of court on numerous occasions? He was constantly interrupting witnesses, the prosecution, and the judge. He would disobey direct orders from the judge, and straight up yell at her. The worst she did was send him to the adjacent courtroom and put him on mute. My only guess is that putting him in contempt would've prolonged the trial, which she had no interest in doing.
  2. New to pool ownership and the leaves are starting to fall. Any issues with this? https://www.amazon.com/ProTuff-Pool-Pole-Rake-Bundle/dp/B08BZVX2XR/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8 The pole by itself is $165 and has great ratings/reviews: https://www.amazon.com/ProTuff-Pool-Pole-Telescopic-16ft-for-Cleaning/dp/B07PKTH7Q8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=OFCDYSZU6W2R&keywords=piranha%2Bpool%2Bpole&qid=1666627723&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIyLjY3IiwicXNhIjoiMi4yNyIsInFzcCI6IjEuNzUifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=piranha%2Bpool%2Bpol%2Caps%2C152&sr=8-1-spons&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.18ed3cb5-28d5-4975-8bc7-93deae8f9840&th=1
  3. We did Osaka-->Kyoto (+Nara day trip)-->Tokyo. All 3 were great, but Osaka was my favorite. Often referred to as Japan's Kitchen, the food is accessible and incredible. I'd shorten Tokyo and Kyoto to give you a couple days in Osaka. Regardless, you'll have some of the best steak, fish, and fruit (was surprised by this) of your life.
  4. Perfect, thanks guys.
  5. My Mom asked for a bowling ball bag for her bday. She's not fancy, just something for her ball, shoes, and wrist brace. I'd like it to be good quality. Brand and/or specific 1 ball bag recs?
  6. Has anyone actually eaten there recently? I heard a rumor the food has improved, but I haven't been in 15 years.
  7. I did not go to Luang Prabang and this is from 2007, but I would say you need 2 full days to see Angkor Wat. I did a 1 day guided tour, and then rented a bike and did my own thing the 2nd. Both days were awesome for their own reasons, which I could expand on if you care. I was at the end of month of traveling and running very low on money, so I really didn't do much outside of Angkor Wat. Also was pretty exhausted after full days exploring. All that to say, if you plan on doing anything else in Siem Reap, you probably need a 3rd day.
  8. The Highlands is MUCH better than The Glen. This is no secret so demand for The Highlands is higher.
  9. Flights are finally booked. We arrive in Zagreb on 9/13. We need to be in Split on 9/16 as we get on a boat the next morning. My loose plan is for us to drive from Zagreb to somewhere near Plitvice Lakes on 9/13. We land in Zagreb at 2 PM and it's only a 2 hour drive, so I think it's doable. Hopefully find a good meal and get some sleep, then hit the park in the morning and head onto the next destination in the afternoon/evening. Any recs on where to stay in/around the park? Bonus points for on site dining and a hot tub Food recs in the area? From Plitvice we basically have 2 nights to fill. I'm thinking Zadar or Pag as the logical path toward Split. From upthread, I think @AnotherUTFan's vote would be for Zadar. Less logical but still doable would be Istria Peninsula. Good food & lodging, and fewer tourists are the main things we care about. Thoughts on where to spend our couple nights? Where to stay and eat? Things to do (we'll have a car)? From there we'll make our way to Split, hoping to stop at Krka National Park on the way. We'll then be on a boat for 7 days doing the Hvar/Vis type stuff before flying home out of Split. TIA for input.
  10. What are the advantages of doing this?
  11. This is Concan: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/usa/nwis/uv?site_no=08195000 Don't see an exact reading for Leakey/Garner, but would assume the same. I have not been this year, but I have been to Concan in a prior year when the discharge was zero. Tubing is clearly not an option. Find a swimming hole, and more importantly try to find a spring because the water will get quite warm as the day goes on (as you can see from the temp graph).
  12. Also subscribed. Doing 7 days on a boat for a friend's 40th in late September. Departing/Returning out of Split. Will likely add 5 or so days on the front or back with just me and the wife. Seems like we'll have to make some tough choices.
  13. Seems that Brad Garrett is off this weekend. Michael Somerville is this wkd. We're leaning towards Absinthe. Appreciate all the input.
  14. I stayed there for a work charity thing about 6 years ago. Unless things have changed, I wouldn't spend any time wandering around after dark without a destination in mind. I saw from your earlier posts you plan to get out of Belize City pretty quickly. Solid plan. I'd just enjoy your beers at the Radisson and rest up for that.
  15. We ended up booking the Encore for this weekend as the NoMad surprisingly sold out. Per the Encore concierge, Pro Bowl and Chinese New Year are making for a busy weekend. We have a reservation at La Cave on Friday, early dinner at Cipriani before the show Saturday, and Lotus of Siam Sunday. We're not excited about Cipriani as we've been before, but that was the only option for an early reservation (5 - 5:30). Might try to get a seat at the Sinatra's bar right when they open. The Garth show is at 8 PM at Dolby Live, so I think we'll be trying to head that way by 7. We have nothing on tap for Sunday other than dinner. Thinking about adding a show, and would like something other than Cirque. Best comedy experience? Is Blue Man Group fun? I'm all ears.
  16. @Your Mom It appears we have the same Lexus, although mine is pretty much stock at the moment. I'm thinking about changing that. Do you mind sharing what updates/upgrades you made from a suspension, wheels, & tires perspective? Do you regret any of them from a handling, reliability, or noise perspective?
  17. I was able to snag a couple tickets to the Garth Brooks show on 2/5 for my wife's bday (ticketmaster was a cluster, but my order finally went through just before I gave up). It has not been cancelled yet. It's been mask required since the beginning, so I'm hoping they just stick to that. We are looking at staying at the NoMad for proximity to show, adults only, and no smoking. Has anybody ever stayed or visited there? Thoughts? Restaurants on property?
  18. Went to Belize in early November. We had to show negative test results from within 48 hours of entry. Vaccination status was never asked. Each country will have its own entry requirements so you'll need to check on Costa Rica specifically, and obviously those could change in the coming months. For coming home, we had to get negative Covid tests. The vax vs. no-vax only came into play with regard to how long before your flight you're allowed to have a negative test. If vaccinated, could be 72 hours before flight. If not, had to be within 24 hours of flight. However, that has already changed: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html Everybody within 1 day now it appears.
  19. Am I the only one that wants to see a picture of Spot at this point?
  20. drizzly.com Make it anonymous if you have to.
  21. Mind sharing the presale code?
  22. Below is from the Victoria House Covid guidelines as of 10/8/21. We will be there in early November. Will update on how it goes. Masks are Required Please be aware that masks are required by the Belize government in all public places and social distancing is also mandatory. Please plan on wearing your mask all the way through the airport, on the flight to the island, and during the transport to the hotel, etc. We suggest you bring a few extra masks just in case. Once you reach Victoria House, masks are required on the property, including at our front desk, walking into the spa or the restaurant/bar, etc. Of course, you can remove your mask once inside the restaurant or bar and seated. You can also forego a mask at the pool or on the beach, as long as you maintain a sufficient distance from anyone not in your family.
  23. My aging father has requested a trip to Taos to relive our younger family days, and see all his grandchildren experience his favorite place on Earth. We always stayed at the Rio Hondo Condos growing up so we will likely do that again for nostalgia purposes, and it's good for our family size of 8 adults and 6 kids. Likely going MLK wkd, which isn't ideal, but hoping not the worst time. My concern is that my Dad obviously can't see the slopes from those condos. On top of that he has pretty limited mobility. He needs his walker or scooter to get around. I haven't been in 25 years. I'm wondering if there's a restaurant or lounge that is handicap accessible where he could set up shop and see the bottom of the slopes. Any thoughts?
  24. Any recent travelers have advice for getting your COVID test required for return? Done on San Pedro or at the airport?
  25. Thanks, and what do y'all think about the return? I'm thinking we'll be fine landing at 1:15 for a 2:10 flight as we can check in online and whatnot. Any unexpected departure procedures/delays with COVID?
