  1. Seemed like Kemp did not get a good jump on that.
  2. CC watching those 2 pitches is infuriating. Should've had some runs for JV in the first.
  3. Tacodeli is awesome, aside from their closing at 3 and breakfast hours during the week.
  4. It's posts like these that make me loathe living in Dallas.
  5. I plan to mute and put the radio broadcast on when we play Boston.
  6. Good win. Can't say I felt the same about the ESPN game calling.
  7. Taco Joint and Tacos Y Mas are probably my top 2. Any not-so obvious favorites?
  8. Home Depot has this sale going today: Vision Kamado Professional Ceramic Charcoal Grill in Orange with Grill Cover for $599. I'm in the market and this seems like a good price. Is this the same one that some people are saying broke right away for them? Reviews are pretty solid.

    Dallas | BBQ

Finally made it to Pecan Lodge on Thursday last week, and it did not disappoint. There were 4 of us so I got the trough plus an extra 1/2 lb of brisket and pork ribs (unnecessary but wanted to be sure to have enough and bbq leftovers are awesome). It was right at Noon on a beautiful Thursday, so the line was obviously out the door. Why would anyone ever wait in that line? If you have 3-4 ppl get the trough. If you're solo or there's 2 of you, wait for a seat at the bar (which were available and turning over quickly). I'm sure there are reasons ppl stand in line, but you won't ever find me in it. I thought everything was great except for the sausage, which was pretty average. Notice the extra 1/2 lb of brisket was so far from dry as fuck that it had it's own pool of juicy goodness.
  11. From Toulouse Petit website: We only accept reservations for our dinner service, which begins at 5pm. Our breakfast service, lunch service and happy hour are walk in only.
  12. Definitely will do. Awesome that they have the menu Mon - Fri as well.
  13. Thanks for the input. Planning to cash in some sapphire points, and the Four Seasons is "on sale" on the site. Is that a good location, or too close to Pike Place? I'm wary of it being like staying near Fisherman's Wharf in San Fran...over priced/sub par touristy establishments. It looks like the Westin and Mayflower Park are closer to Belltown. Also a place called Staypineapple Hotel 5 that would be quite a bit cheaper.
  14. So the guy at 1:05 is dead or eating his meals through a straw, right?
  15. Cross posting. I'll be visiting with my wife and 3 month old son in June. Most likely staying Sunday - Monday. Some good stuff in this thread already, but where would y'all stay? Neighborhood? We're open to hotel or airbnb. Would be nice to have walkable options for food/drink.
  16. Thanks for the input. I think we've narrowed in on flying to Seattle to stay for a few nights. Will take the train down to Portland on Wednesday or Thursday where some friends with a youngin' live. Do some winery tours and hiking with them. Head home on Sunday. I considered Iceland, but the whole all day sunlight thing made me shy away a bit. Yellowstone and Banff type lodgings are sub par for absorbent prices for our dates. For those that think I'm crazy, perhaps I am. This trip is way more for us than him as he obviously won't remember it. I'm on paternity leave for all of June, so we want to take advantage. Seems to me that travel is easier at this stage in his life when all he does is sleep, eat, and poop, especially while we only have 1. I'm well aware our plans will need to be fluid and we may end up spending a day or 2 tethered to the hotel more than expected, but I don't see anything wrong with that. Definitely sounds better than sitting around the house like we can do any regular weekend. I'll report back. Moving to the Portland and Seattle threads for further advice.

    Dallas | Tacos

Went to Revolver Taco on Friday. As stated many times before, it was excellent. We got one of every taco except the veggie. The carnitas and pato were probably my favorites. Definitely interested in their tasting menu. Has anybody on here done it?
  18. Nice. Jealous and hope y'all enjoy. I'm sure the waiter will direct you accordingly, but the Milhojas de Ventresca was a thing of delicious beauty:
  19. Good point on the passport. I think if I get that in the works by early next week we should be fine. Might have to pay the minimum expedite fee.
  20. We will be flying out of New York (after a wedding) on June 10th, and need to be back home in Dallas on June 17 or 18th. This will be our first real trip with our son that will be just over 3 months old. My thought is that we would want easily accessible daytime activities like hiking, walkable town/downtown, and good food and drink is a must. I imagine there's a chance we'll end up hanging out at the hotel for a full day to truly relax, so a nice pool with good service and on site food would be good. Willing to move once, but having the kiddo means we don't want to packing/unpacking too much. Initial thoughts with outdoorsy type options: Lake Louise/Banff/Calgary Bozeman/Big Sky/Yellowstone (I'm a bit wary of Yellowstone because I'm assuming it will be super crowded and quality lodging will be hard to come by) Jackson Hole/Yellowstone/Grand Teton Lake Tahoe City type: Portland/Seattle/Vancouver (I'm aware Portland is not that close to the others and a flight might be involved) Oaxaca As you can see my initial thoughts are focused more in the North and West (aside from Oaxaca) as I haven't spent much time in the region. We're pretty well traveled otherwise. Go to Nola all the time, did Zion/Grand Canyon/Sedona a couple years ago, lived in NYC for 10 years so East Coast is pretty well covered, Texas/New Mexico/Colorado well covered, have been all over California. What say the Surly? Where would you stay?

    Dallas | Italian

Went to Carbone's last night for the first time. Thought it was solid. Got the veal parm and shrimp scampi linguine as entrees. Veal parm was pretty good, but we both thought the shrimp linguine with its simple but tasty sauce was better. Lucia and Nonna are on a different level IMO, but Carbone's does seem like a nice dependable option.
  22. Has Marwin always sucked this hard against breaking balls and sliders? That and fastballs nowhere near the strike zone would be all he'd getting from me these days.
  23. Look forward to reliving that on ESPN. WTF?
  24. Agreed. Pretty difficult to walk through at any time and not be frustrated by the time you get through it. Unfortunately you've got to see it, and it's pretty much impossible to avoid completely if you're going to a show. Going through recruiting many moons ago, Ernst & Young touted their Times Square location as a selling point. I thought the same as a naive Texan on my first visit. I did not go with them, and thank my lucky stars. I can't begin to fathom having to deal with those crowds on daily basis, especially during long ass busy season days/nights.
