  1. How do you fix the income tax system? This is an entirely different thread, but that's easier said than done. The only way to do it is to properly tax cap gains, but as I'm sure you know (since you seem versed in this), that creates all kinds of disincentivization issues. The problem is that it's too easy to hide wealth and there aren't really any good ways to get it as it comes in. Ergo.. a wealth tax. Sure it'll have problems and hiccups but none of them are showstoppers, despite concern trolling and crying from the Fox News morons serving as the oligarchs' pawns.
  2. LOL if you don't think Bezos is hiding most of his wealth and income back in Amazon or other adjacent shell companies. What do you think he pays, personally, in effective tax rate? I'll bet you literally any amount of money that it's below 22%. But since we don't know what Bezos' effective rate is, let's change my original post a different rich asshole for whom we know some personal tax info. Warren paid 22% effective. Donald Trump paid $750 Does my point materially change at all? What is the purpose of your "correction" to my post here? I don't see one. I'm not sure what your point is. My point is that our system is set up for rich assholes to avoid paying taxes and that something needs to be done to address that inequality. Do you disagree?
  3. Other locations hooking into HEB's scheduling infrastructure is a really smart move. Kudos to whoever put that in motion. Anecdotally in the last week the number of friends and family members who have gotten or are getting the shot this week is about 5x the entire previous time combined. The levee is breaking.
  4. Put me down for a plateau-ish type thing until mid April. Cases not deaths. We'll continue on the back side of the parabola for deaths and hospitalizations.
  5. Where does not wearing a mask inside day care dropping your kid off rank on the jackass scale? Seent it this morning
  6. Lol. What a mouth breathing simpleton you are. Warren's effective tax rate last year was 22 percent on less than a million dollars. Jeff Bezos' was 1.8% on billions. Only in idiot world is this acceptable. Hurr durr socialism
  7. LOL. I hope it works out for you and all the school families out there. One thing we all agree on is that it's important to get the kids back to normal ASAP. No matter where you stand politically. And this hurts the cause.
  8. All of our back and forth aside, this could potentially really hurt the timeline to get back to normal school which I know is important to you and everyone with school aged kids. It's only going to take a few Karen parents sending their kids maskless and throwing tantrums about muh rights to cause problems that might create difficult decisions for administration. Not to mention the potential to alienate the teachers and staff. Just such an impetuous premature ejaculation of a decision that is going to do nothing but create conflict and problems. This is why we can't have nice things.

    Cuomo

Almost everyone here ripped him to shreds for it. As well as Newsome and Adler. They need to feel like both sides always justify poor behavior by their politicians after they spent the last four years teabagging an effeminate, preening, sloppy fat, spray-tanned trust fund socialite who grifted the ever loving shit out of an entire group of people who he'd never let within 30 yards of him. I'd try to rationalize away my embarrassment too if I did that.
  10. A lot of that seems pretty theatrical and irritates me at times. But I try to consider the reasoning. If someone walked past my table in Covid times maskless and accidentally sneezed near me or my family or in my unlimited breadsticks, I'd be pretty fuckin pissed off. Even if accidental. I assume that's the type of stuff it's trying to prevent even if it seems silly. And it's zero effort to wear one walking around unless you're fat and out of shape.
  11. Wonderful that the takeaway is not to use with anti-police rhetoric lest you lose a big voting bloc. A nation held hostage by a government sponsored criminal enterprise. Yay. Boomers can't get out of the way fast enough.
  12. Time to open the vaccine floodgates. Distribute enough of the J&J vaccine for every teacher in the state, allocated to them specifically, and have each community have two "teacher days" at certain sites over the next two weeks to make sure we get them vaccinated and get back to school. The teachers that don't take it won't matter because J&J leftovers don't go to waste like Pfizer and Moderna. Open everything else up to everyone. The shroud of 1B was gone like two weeks ago. The olds and fats and beetuses who don't have it by now are either putting out no effort or aren't willing to drive a couple hours. Might as well just open it up, democratize it fully, and get as many shots in arms as fast as possible. PS - one thing I'd be fine with Abbott doing is setting a deadline for hospitals holding onto their doses before releasing back to the public. There are a good amount of doses just sitting in hospitals. They're for hesitant staff who have yet to take it. Maybe allow each facility a small holdback for new hires. Otherwise fuck 'em. Piss or get off the pot.
  13. We could all have a backyard Bevo. That'd be pretty badass.
  14. Oh. You were expecting actual real help for the working class between March 2020 and December? lol (no politics) (politics)
  15. Yeah, this season for DJM is really his third. If DJ has another nice year of progress, his numbers could be as good or better than Kawhi's in your comparison. But, if we're using my parallel (basically saying Murray's season minus one = Kawhi's season), DJ is two years older, which could mean he's peaked out more. Also Murray isn't a giant cunt, which gives him a leg up on Kawhi.
  16. Is DJM too old? If he continues to progress the way he did this year, his career could have a Kawhi-like arc. Dude has only started 145 games at this point, which is about where Kawhi was after the 2014 championship. I don't know if he'll be a star, but I don't know that I'd put it out of reach for him. He obviously isn't getting the credit for it yet, but he's playing at a near all-star level this year. The two guys right above him in WS/48 are Ja Morant and Devin Booker. And his usage is pretty low.
  17. Dyslexic, it's what I get for Surlying on conference calls.
  18. That's fair. I actually didn't realize Curry had been in it six times and only won it five. Like you said, it's a different beast shooting off a rack.
  19. Flagstone/coping started today. They're telling me that's going to take about two weeks. Not sure what it looks like after that, I guess pool finish and equipment set? Seems like I'm looking at a startup date sometime in April.
  20. Well, now we know Hugo makes between $75k and $80k/year.
  21. Had to hit HEB here in NB this morning for a couple of things and everyone was masked, which I was genuinely surprised by.
  22. You can add me to the "I'm fine with businesses opening, but getting rid of masks is stupid" squad. Said as much a few days ago. Re-opening businesses is an economic move. Getting rid of masks is a purely cynical political move.
