  1. We are going to a concert April 3rd and Vegas early May, lined up with my second shot and about when I think the community spread numbers will be as low as they were around spring 2019. I can't wait to get back. This summer is going to be a party.
  2. Yeah, I agree with you. But it's nice to be able to sit back and watch the vaccines work, and some decisions are still going to be predicated on community spread. Without hospitalizations, we're going to have difficulty finding a reliable way to track it. Some vaccinated people will still get it, but they'll likely never get tested because it'll be a minor cold. My goalpost for when I'll start living like 2019 again has always been when the hospitals aren't in danger of being overwhelmed (I think we are already there permanently), and when most of our at-risk are vaccinated and hospital numbers are negligible. We are close. Maybe a month away.
  3. You never answered my question about this. Did those states remove the mask mandates and let it become a local jurisdiction decision, or did they do what Hot Wheels did which effectively bans mask mandates statewide? Those are two different things. You know that.
  4. I hate Luka's face almost as much as I hated Tony's face.
  5. Lol at taking a career 38% 3 point shooter over the best shooter, by a huge margin, in the history of the game. It's Steph. Any other answer is just trying to be contrarian. There is no other answer.
  6. Depends who you are IMO. For upper middle class surly types it's probably neutral to slightly good. We reap the benefits of the exploitation by way of cheap goods and services. Services like Amazon and Uber where the only reason the price is so extraordinarily cheap is because they underpay, exploit and mis-categorize their labor force as 1099s. But if you're lower middle class and below, it has destroyed economic mobility. And once the machine has consumed the underclass, all of us comfortable Surlyites or our children are next. The machine won't stop consuming until there are two distinct classes. The 1% and the servant class. It will eat us next. To think we're safe and support the ruling class' efforts to consume and own everything is foolish. But at least fags can't get married!
  7. You're right. Intentionally misrepresenting scientific studies to advance an agenda is certainly right in a pharma shill's wheelhouse. I misspoke.
  8. This twisting and flailing that you're doing with concepts you don't understand is what happens when you get ahead of your skis in a subject area that you don't know as well as you think you do. Stick to what you're good at. The only people who think your holiday inn express statsguy act is worth anything are the biggest rubes here. You are the company you keep. Just because you can use Excel doesn't make you a statistician.
  9. The study couldn't contact trace 95% of its subjects from an already tiny sample size. That makes it completely useless. Did you just not read the whole thing? Did you read and it's just too complex for you? Or did you know the study is fatally flawed and posted it anyway?
  10. "Due to confidentiality concerns, we were not able to analyze incidence of child-to-child or adult-to- child transmission, nor could we determine the relative effectiveness of any specific school policies. Finally, these data are applicable to reduced population density, both through the hybrid model and from students within the districts" Great study. You're continuing your great amateur statguy run that you've been on. [emoji106]
  11. Unfortunately for you your head follows you everywhere.
  12. Honestly I think a chart that compares a city to an entire state; a state which is blatantly and unapologetically cooking their Covid numbers to look better than they actually are, is perfect for this thread.
  13. Is this the Florida that fired their last data gal for refusing to cook the books on their Covid numbers, or some other one?
  14. How many of those governors made the order such that it overrules all city and county mask mandates? Legitimately asking, you seem more up to speed with that stuff than I am. There is a big difference between having no state order which effectively leaves it up to local governments, and Abbott's mandate which is basically a mandate for the entire state to be maskless.
  15. Ah yes, David Shuster of quickhitsnews.com - titan of media.
  16. He said a few too many reasonable things about the election late last year so now he needs to do a bunch of stupid shit to get his base back, lest he get outflanked to the right by someone more crazy and stupid than he is.
  17. If 25% of shots are going to seniors who only make up 10% of the population of the state then seniors are getting shots at 2.5x the rate that anyone else is. I think it's going fine.
  18. Here are three links to vaccination clinics in South Texas tomorrow through Friday for 1A/1B if anyone needs them. Falfurrias, Freer, and Beeville. Have a family member that works here, and @midtown used my last link with good success it sounds like. https://cacost.org/
  19. The first half was quite the emotional rollercoaster. To your later point, the billionaires are not stupid and have to understand that what the wealth-hoarding is terrible for our society and democracy and will eventually be the downfall of it. Right? Are they just figuring they'll be dead by the time it matters? Or they're just so addicted to wealth generation that they can't see it?
  20. I'll still party with your crazy ass any day, even if we disagree about one particular thing.
  21. Why do I need to structure a wealth tax? That doesn't make any sense. I'm not a politician. Why don't you just read the plan set forth by Warren and company?
  22. I'll take the over at the peak which I'd put at mid-April.
  23. Like half of us on surly are owners or partners in pass-through entities. Not sure why you believe you hold some sort of holy grail of knowledge about them here. The mechanics of business reinvestment vs. profit taking are functionally no different in an S-Corp. In fact, an S-Corp would be even more incentivized to re-invest in people or infrastructure than most corporate structures. We got well past "fuck the rich" awhile back, you're just making bad, easily-disproven points.
