I get helping your friends but Plaskett in the Virgin Islands is toxic as she had a professional relationship with Jeffery Epstein. Remember his Pedo Island is in the Virgin Islands. Epstein was texting questions to Plasket as she questioned Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen in Congress in 2019. That screams more than just a casual donor. I know this isn't a Crockett thread but she's not doing herself any favors by hitching her wagon to Plaskett.

I don't see the SAVE act as passing as-is. It's possible that parts of it could pass especially if it starts for the 2028 election cycle. Trump likes to do things last minute but state and local election processes are already started for 2026. And if something was changed for the 2026 general election, I would think that a 2026 primary loser could argue in court that the primary results should be tossed.

I would have to think that some SC GOP politicians are not onboard in letting the sister jump into a rare Senate open seat. She's 62 so she could easily tie up that seat for another 25 years, if elected.

Can't believe that we still have 4 years of this guy. Dems need better (some) vetting of Senate candidates. I know you can't stop someone from running but the national and state parties can usually direct money to primary candidates they like.

The idea of moving ship building to Brownsville confused me until I read this. I don't know Brownsville enough to call it names but I assume there are zero shipbuilding trained resources down there, and its not exactly a place that will attract qualified workers. There is also a history of some corps moving into small Texas ports and screwing them up environmentally. See Point Comfort (Port Lavaca) and the Formosa PCV plant as an example.

I assume most won't vote but there are always exceptions to everything. There's also the political reality that some voters are being used by strategists. For example, the aforementioned video that I watched from a political strategist, she explicitly said that she wants to see Talarico put his money where his mouth is by suggesting that he hire Houston-based, black owned political organizations. Perhaps even buy her services from her company (my words, not hers.)

From what I can tell, there are mixed feelings about Talarico's Houston rally where he specifically wanted to address African-American concerns. Free link I watched a long form video from a AA political strategist about this rally. No link. From her impressions and reading between the lines I gather that some in the public wanted to get frustrations off their chest about the belief that Dems take the Black vote for granted but there isn't much reciprocation. Seems like a fair concern. Also there looks to be some who are still very passionate about Crockett's loss to Talarico. What I don't hear from anyone is what they expect from Talarico to win them over. IMO all he can do is listen and acknowledge them. Now if there is nothing he can do to win someone over, there may just need to be the realization that he cannot. Then the hypothetical voter can either vote for Paxton or stay home on election day.

It rings very hollow when he asks for any victim to come forward with information of others involved in trafficking. Whether it’s true or not, there was victim testimony that prince andrew was involved. I know some other well known men have been accused by victims. Like Alan Dershowitz. Now could they be innocent? Yes or even not guilty in terms of limited evidence. But it’s disingenuous to say there is no evidence when victims have named their abusers.

Hegseth attends a church where they teach that women need to be submissive to men and we need to revoke women’s right to vote. If that is your belief, then it would be very reasonable for Hegseth to kick women leaders out of the military. Hegseth is smart enough to know he cannot unilaterally and immediately kick all women about the military. Instead discourage them by reducing opportunity and talk about T levels. He’s in it for the long game where few or zero women join the military by the next generation.

Vance would carry out orders and legislation that I would disagree with, but not at the level of Trump. And he definitely wouldn't get caught up in the 5 crazy stories of the day. We wouldn't be caught up in Iran or Venezuela or 99% of the corruption of the Trumps. Besides he would still be facing the challenges of narrow House and Senate. He could even face difficulties in getting a new VP confirmed if Trump fell over dead. (btw, I looked it up. The Constitution only requires a simple majority in the House and Senate, and there wouldn't be a VP in the Senate to break the tie.) If the Dems have a majority in the House, vote down anyone that Vance put up for VP. Let the Dem Speaker be next in line for the Presidency. Refer to it as the McConnell Doctrine.

I hope that Talarico isn't spending too much time and money to drive out to the one small Texas town that will already vote for him. Sure, perhaps he motivated 6 extra voters in Marfa but that's a major time commitment. And I'm sure that he used the time to film commercials, etc.

I don't recall anyone here feeling confident about Kamala winning in 2024. In fact I think most Dems felt fairly pessimistic from the time Biden stepped on the debate stage until, well today.

Breshear showing up to the hospital with flowers and a get well card would be great political theater. He doesn't need to force himself into the room or drag reporters along, but it will keep the pressure up to discover the truth. Breshear should inform McConnell's staff, and copy the media, that he will be at the hospital at X PM to personally express how the whole state wishes McConnell the best. He would love to see and speak with the senator but understands if the senator is unable to meet but Breshear will visit regardless.

Breshear needs to appoint someone today. A democrat. It then puts pressure on McConnell to prove he's alive and/or the GOP to fight Breshear that he doesn't have the right to appoint someone. It would be funny in the latter scenario to see the GOP not disputing in court documents whether McConnell is alive or dead but that Breshear can't appoint someone because of their bs laws. It's annoying when Democrats fail to take action even if they know that they will most likely fail in that action. It's perfectly ok if Breshear loses that fight on either front but make it the headline.

Have you ever worked for a company that you see coworkers expensing everything without pushback while you had taken an inconvenient flight because it saved the company a few hundred? You eventually decide to follow everyone else's lead. Last minute flights that costs thousands. Upgrade to business. 5 star hotels, etc. Uber to the airport? Screw riding in someone's minivan, I'm taking a benz car service. Your boss can't say no when they personally do it. Vance sees Trump actually earning money off his travel plans so why not use military aircraft to ferry your kid to soccer practice.

Where is the Right's concern about Hegseth starting to document every military member's testosterone level? I bet Hegseth is one of those at a BBQ that when it's just guys around drinking beer he brings up T levels. Mentions how his doctor says that he (Hegseth) has the highest level that drugs can safely sustain. I know a guy who bragged about his testosterone level. I thought the guy was actually ok until he made that insecure remark.
