  1. Good points. Too many people look to the President to fix everything. “Undecided voter Eddie here. Ms. Harris what policies will you enact on day 1 that will get me to exercise before work each day? I also hate that my backyard needs to be mowed once per week in August. Can you stretch that out to 2 weeks?”
  2. And companies can’t really lower prices now because their employees have all received wage increases that won’t come down. And they also have suppliers who won’t drop their prices. We had craziness for a couple of years but prices have now stabilized.
  3. And there won’t be any price controls. There are risks to living in a capitalistic system when demand outgrows supply.
  4. I dislike that Harris can’t just say that grocery prices aren’t coming down. I know that we would all love our grocery bill to drop 25% but it’s impossible and actually would be detrimental at this point. What we need is what is occurring where wages and expenses are finding a new equilibrium. are all workers willing to turn their wages back to 2019 levels to get groceries back to 2019 levels? I vote no to that.
  5. I don't buy the poll averages that have the PA, MI and WI senate races up a 4 points for the Dem candidate but then Harris is effectively tied with Trump in each. Yes, Jill Stein will infuriating take some votes from Harris but I can't believe there will be that much crossover vote.
  6. I have mixed feelings about Kamala spending time in Texas at this point. Obviously the results will speak to themselves in 2 weeks. Hillary tried to run up the score with NC and FL, but lost them along with WI, MI and PA. That mistake led to Kavanaugh, Gorsuch and Barrett. But if Harris' team feels confident with the EC map, her attention next has to go to securing the Senate. WV is lost, and Montana looks to be. Beating Cruz may be the best option to keep a 50-50 senate. And if there is some long shot of her taking Texas, that would end any real fight for Trump claiming election cheating. I assume that that Harris County offers an unique scenario of many voters with low turnout. And it might only take X hours out of her schedule. Wake up the next morning back in the battleground states.
  7. If they would vehemently deny that our founding fathers did not practice nor have the same Christian beliefs that most Americans especially evangelicals have today. For the most part they didn’t believe in Jesus other than his moral teachings. They also believed more in reason, logic and natural law rather than divine revelation. most importantly they were against widespread or large religious institutions.
  8. There has been long term rumors about recordings made during the Apprentice filming that the exec producer has refused to acknowledge or deny they exist. And while he might own the rights to the media, it doesn’t mean others don’t have copies and could release without his permission.
  9. As an Astro fan I hated Valenzuela since we were in the same division with the Dodgers. Crazy how that changed over the years. But I respected his game.
  10. As soon as PA releases one update where he's ahead, he will call for the counting to stop. He will be hearing about fraud starting to occur with the vote counts so the vote needs to stand as-is. Thank god he doesn't have control over any troops. I wouldn't put it past him to order them to take over vote counting from the counties and state.
  11. Keep the analysis coming. I'm skeptical that even a Trump-Cruz combo will do much to narrow the gap from 2018 and 2020. I see it being closer than 2020 but there are just so many TX votes that Dems need to find or flip.
  12. If it gets her off the federal bench, we at least get that silver lining. Trump will only pick an AG that will do his personal bidding so it may not matter if it’s her or someone else. No one of character will accept his nomination.
  13. Since several are posting that their doctors don’t advise getting a Covid shot, my internal med doc recently recommended that I get one and I have zero underlying health problems. And I got the shot a couple weeks later. As far as the comments that some people get the Covid vaccine and still get Covid, the vaccine doesn’t produce some shield around your body. You can still get infected and hopefully your body now has the ability to create antibodies against the Covid infection. And depending on the severity of your exposure , it may knock it out immediately or you experience a minimal infection. In some unlucky cases, it’s a bad infection. personally they can hit me up with any vaccine I don’t care. Covid, flu, shingles, whatever.
  14. Missed this post as the thread moves quickly. Quality post by @Pancho This can happen in conversations with only white people as well. I’ve heard a friend claim that something isn’t offensive or racist because it was ok 25 years ago. One, it wasn’t ok then but sadly past society somewhat accepted it. Two, the person making a comment doesn’t get to decide if those hearing it are offended. But they hold firm that it’s not racist. yes it’s possible that the offender was ignorant or had non-offensive intent but it doesn’t change how the listener felt about it.
  15. So sad and disgusting. Adult children of parents who are declining - watch your parents phones and bank accounts. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFXMpxRM/
  16. GWB has turned out to be the biggest coward. I didn't agree with many of the positions or policies but I had respect for him by the time he left office. I actually don't even believe that he votes for Trump and may vote Kamala, but he's afraid to say it.
  17. On the whole "did she work at McDonalds" she may have a slight misremembering of the exact details. If she completely made up working at a burger joint if not McDonalds, that's wrong. If she can't remember all of the details, it's understandable. Take Trump where he claims that he was one of the best high school baseball players in the state of NY. According to him, he even went to a pro tryout alongside future hall-of-famer, Willie McCovey. Sounds impressive. Investigations showed that Trump batted <.150 in high school but guess what, there are missing box scores from the 60s. I doubt the best player in NY batted that low. Perhaps his batting average was north of .150. And as for trying out alongside McCovey, McCovey was already in his 5th year in the MLB when Trump was a senior. So unless Trump tried out for the majors while in junior high, he's completely lying about the situation. As always Trump's lies are so numerous that we forget how many small lies he's told over the years.
  18. It's fair to say that Harris is not doing as well with certain demographics compared to previous election cycles but I question how many of those in changing voting patterns really showed up to vote before or now. Feels more like talk than action for most.
  19. I can only imagine the smell in that penthouse but the plaintiffs don't have to live there. Only get a realtor to sell it. I'm hoping that Rudy's health is strong enough that we can see him eventually living in a rundown trailer park. It's only a matter of time unless his kids take him in.
  20. Another point about the acknowledged flaws of 538's analysis is that they correctly predicted Biden AND had him 89-11 to win. They were right but a couple of thousands votes here and there, Trump would have won. In addition, they and the polls were completely wrong about 2016. Because of those flaws, I could see the idea that unless 538 is 100-0 or 99-1, it's too close to call given the margins of error.
  21. Obviously 538's analysis shows Trump with a slightly better chance to win but I think anything lower than 60-40 is effectively a tie. They're saying that in 100 simulations Harris only wins 49 times. In other words, it's a coin flip. And I would state the same if Harris was up 51-49 in their prediction.
  22. I have a few friends who could easily be classified as country club Republicans. They're repulsed by Trump and MAGA. They justify voting for Trump solely because they think all Dems are Marxists who want to flip America to communism. That's it for them. They may fundamentally disagree with Trump and his policies but he's not Kamala.
  23. The GOP would absolutely love to eliminate weekends but I believe judges would prevent that given the propensity for a fair number of African Americans voting on Sunday after church. Crazy how Harris County previously had one location going 24/7 and others offered drive through voting, but the GOP considered that giving Dems an advantage so that had to be legislatively disallowed. Can't make voting easy.
  24. EDITED to remove a statement that wasn't accurate for every Texas county. I really don't understand why anyone would wait for election day in Texas cities. On election day you're forced to vote at your precinct and you deal with longer lines. Voting early gives you complete flexibility to location and time, including the ability to delay it to another day if the line is too long. Outside of local runoff races, I can't recall the last time I voted on election day.
