  1. Fair enough. Thanks for the expansion. No insults intended to anyone.
  2. 100%. I agree the caller owes us nothing. I’m just saying that an anonymous call shouldn’t be taken as gospel. Maybe it’s true. Maybe it’s not. Maybe it’s exaggerated. im seeing people running with this story as an example of how Trump is truly hurting at least one person but we don’t know it’s true. If this issue is spreading then it shouldn’t be hard for the media or the daily show to find people who are falling victim time trumps fema lies.
  3. Some are y’all as just as a bad as MAGA. Instead of complaining about stolen elections you’re complaining about rigged polls. If you think that polls are changing their numbers to meet a goal, then stop posting or commenting on them.
  4. The father in law refusing to accept assistance may very well be true but until someone in that family appears on camera telling the story, I’m skeptical. The media and social media are reporting on an anonymous guy who called into another tv news show. one story being magnified 1000x doesn’t mean the story has been verified even once. but regardless of trump it’s very common for people in a disaster zone to be led astray by rumors. They hear bits and pieces of real info and they’re scared.
  5. Sad story but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere near that part of town. I’m less than 20 miles away and worry that is too close.
  6. Wish the energy CEOs, who back Trump, would address the question on the exact nature they plan to cut their revenue in half under Trump. Their shareholders would love to learn more about that.
  7. In that same speech, Trump proposed making car loan interest tax deductible. This is the same MFer that went out of his way in this last term to encourage fewer people to itemize and go with the standard deduction. Tax returns went from 70% taking the standard deduction to 90%. Make car loan interest tax-deductible and very few people will get to take advantage of it but the smooth brain folks will think Trump is giving them a benefit.
  8. The dem party or candidates only have to state that they disagree with the court findings and are open to future laws to address it. Disagreeing with a court order and enforcing that order are not at odds with one another. I'm not arguing the issue itself but rather the political reality of needing to win elections.
  9. Agreeing to gender affirmation surgery for prisoners or govt-issued insured recipients, is a loser issue for Dems. Most Americans struggle with this issue and believe it's not a life saving treatment especially for prisoners. Dems should be clear that tax dollars won't go to federal prisoners for these treatments.
  10. Biden and the Blue Deep State has been 100% successful in steering hurricanes away from the gulf blue states. No denying that.
  11. I hear some media types wondering why Trump or Harris haven't gone on Rogan yet since they're both pivoting to as many top (defined by listeners) podcasts as possible. I don't see Rogan having either on his show. Sure that 1 or 2 episodes will be huge but too risky for Rogan to bring them on. The majority of his audience doesn't want to hear any criticism or fact checking of Trump, and they would want to see Rogan attack Harris to her face. Which he wouldn't do.
  12. I agree that Houston overreacted with Rita. Mainly it was due to the the reported horrors of NOLA and the Superdome. Everyone thought Houston would resemble Mad Max if they were stuck.
  13. It used to be a skill to put someone down but not be blunt about it. The type of insult that went over the head of a less intelligent person. Trump's insults are walking up to you and slapping you in the face.
  14. Mind numbing that we have a ex-President/current candidate that communicates in this manner. We really are well into the Idiocracy world.
  15. I like the concept but we're getting to the point of raising our credit card limit so we can go to the mall later today. I'm in favor of adding to necessary govt services but we never want to address the costs. Most likely the only way to get this proposal passed is to give the Republicans a tax break. Receive less in tax revenue and spend more.
  16. Not DeSantis related but this feels like a good place to post as it’s hurricane related. Basically in the recent past the NC GOP (and a few willing Dems) lowered NC building codes at the behest of home builders. https://www.wbtv.com/2024/10/05/north-carolina-lawmakers-erode-building-code-years-before-helene-hit/ and it’s not just having more unsafe homes, NC estimates that they lost out on $70m in FEMA grants this year to help small towns reduce disaster risks. And unknowns in higher insurance premiums because insurers are aware of the impact of lower building codes. but hey, home developers can increase their profits. Insurers probably as well.
  17. Yep, NYT has something off with their polls. And others need to stop thinking they’re putting their thumbs on the scale. Most likely they have a flawed model that can only be adjusted when they eventually compare it to actual results.
  18. Last month someone gave the Washington post a handful of 2020 messages they had with Vance where Vance was critical of Trump. WashPo didn’t name the person but Vance knew that person works at Deloitte. now Trump allies (like Don Jr.) are calling to punish Deloitte for this action of their employee. Effectively fire Deloitte from their govt contracts. Mind the fact that no laws or ethics were broken. Someone is allowed to share communications that they have with others. Vance had no expectation of confidentiality. The path towards an autocratic country is staring us in the face. Trump and his bullies want to force every politician and company to subjugate to his will. Failure to do so will be destruction. Should Deloitte protect one employee against the potential of laying off thousands? Should a private company be put to a decision like that? https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/08/business/deloitte-trump-leaked-jd-vance-messages/index.html
  19. There is merit that traditional media has a place in political interview but they’re in the position of being ignored because they refused to hold politicians accountable especially Trump. Looking at you Fox. trump will tell Fox viewers that he will reverse high prices and get them back to when he was previously president. That’s impossible but Fox won’t call him on it. Harris assertion that her anti price gouging laws will lower prices is also bs. However why go on face the nation or Anderson 360 and have them hold her feet to that fire.
  20. I don’t understand staying back to protect your things from looters. And like someone else said, what does a guy have in his late 20s that looters want that insurance won’t replace.
  21. It would be great if PredictIt offered bets on polymarket's demise.
  22. The best betting markets are hammering the obvious wrong bets like those betting on Trump to win the popular vote or Kari Lake winning AZ. you don't get rich but it's easy money. The only two risks that I see. 1) Something drastic occurs (i.e. harris announces she's dropping out) and you're late to get out of the bet. 2) A site like Polymarket goes offline and doesn't pay out.
  23. Isn't the current consensus is that it won't be a cat 5 when hitting Florida on Wednesday?
  24. Makes sense to me that relatively small betting pools could be manipulated by large bettors. Say they're sitting on a bunch of Trump bets already. Push some more money into Trump hoping to influence the market. The crowd follows. Dump all of your bets. Maybe you break even on the newer bets but your rake with the others.
  25. Does someone really have to say the reason why it’s different with Soros? We can speak about it in hushed tones in public or out loud at the country club.
