  1. I believe the amount is prorated at the same percentage that you were covered for the HDHP for that year.
  2. You’re right in that the Texas GOP could probably shift a few degrees to the left and they could corner 60% of the vote. The far far right ain’t going to vote for anyone else. Instead of a smart political shift they will try to take the vote away from large counties. if they also fear that the governor or lt governor could be a Democrat, look for them to curb the powers of those offices. If Abbott thought a Dem would beat him, he would sign a law on the way out making the role ceremonial and add a term limit of 1.
  3. I’m sure some other inmates will put up her with her craziness because she’s 70. But you know there will be at least one inmate that will hear Peters talk for a few minutes and then beat the shit out of her. Peters doesnt seem like the type to keep to herself.
  4. In football with an injury, fake or legitimate, can create a 10 second run off the clock depending on when it occurs. This stunt err health scare should add more time.
  5. And for anyone wondering, this was a state prosecution so with an unfortunate Trump administration, she doesn't get out of prison. I can't say whether 9 years is appropriate for all of her crimes but it never helps a case when you are adamant that your actions are not against the law. I assume her only option are appeals. Maybe she can find a friendly appeal courts who will lower her prison stay. EDIT: If you skim or read through her wikipedia page, this woman has continually violated court orders, committed new crimes and lied to the police & judge over the last two years. With some of Mike Lindell's money, she gone through different attorneys and even appealed up to the SCOTUS. She attempted the Trump playbook with delays but it finally caught up with her.
  6. I believe that Kinzinger now lives in Houston. Unsure if it’s related to his wife (is she from here?), new job or if he sees a future in Texas politics.
  7. Chronicle article (free link) about the changing demographics of Texas voters. The focus is on the increasing population along I-35 and Harris county in contrast of the relative lack of growth elsewhere. i haven’t seen an election analyst flat out say that it’s 50-50 for statewide elections yet but the combination of Cruz and Trump this year creates a perfect storm of blue hatred. I’m convinced that if the Beto-Cruz race had been in 2020 instead of 2018, Beto would have won. In 2018 Cruz had Abbott running for governor but not Trump which helped Cruz. Looking forward to seeing the early vote totals by county and state total in a couple of weeks. Hope I’m wrong but I don’t see how Allred retains the Beto vote and finds the 215k votes that Beto lost by.
  8. Offer Collins secretary of whatever to move to the exec dept.
  9. We have many years of Texas high school students who were only taught to pass the TAKS and then STAARS tests. They don’t know anything about Carter. The answer to any question about the Carter administration is Iran Hostage crisis but I doubt Carter warrants more than a couple of paragraphs in a history textbook. Overall Carter is a relatively minor presidency surrounded by more memorable people and events. He had JFK, LBJ, Vietnam and Nixon before him and Reagan and the Cold War ending afterwards. Yes, I ignored Ford. General history will pretty much ignore Carter too. a deeper dive into history would be kinder to Carter especially in an ideal of selfless post presidencies.
  10. When you mean to set the bomb timer for 80 seconds and instead set it for 80 years.
  11. Some Texas Democrats need to be given a strong reason to vote. And it's not really that big of a deal to vote. Yes, you need an ID which honesty most people should have anyway. Then you need to find an hour during early voting.
  12. Pathetic that Cruz can only run on stopping "boys in girl sports."
  13. No shit. Why not just play the game. You might actually win. A college level female volleyball player hasn’t frequently played against men for her entire career? instead they decide to show SJSU by giving them the win.
  14. BTW, it's always important to remember that the Washington Times (author of this story) is owned by a cult.
  15. I don't know enough to say whether this player should be in the match or not but this only the University of Wyoming trying to make a political point. If one school is questioning the eligibility of any player from another school, then it's up to the conference or the NCAA to decide eligibility. But you still play the game under protest. Then if the conference/NCAA rules in your favor, you receive the win. Personally I don't think Wyoming should received a forfeit loss, they should be disqualified from the entire conference season. You don't want to play in the conference, then the conference should honor their wishes.
  16. I assume that when you tell these bots to STOP, it only confirms that it's an active number and they can sell the number for even more to the next campaign.
  17. I'm playing contrarian here. If Person A was a Democrat precinct chair who has voted Democrat 100% of their life but Person A dies the day before Election Day, we do not allow their family to cast Person A's vote on Election Day even though everyone agrees that is how they would've voted. Early and absentee voting is about convenience and the inability to vote on Election Day for a number of reasons. It should not be used to get around rules that are applied on Election Day. As I said this is only an academic argument that has a very small impact and most likely has never decided a widespread or important election. I wouldn't want to waste the funds building a process around validating life while counting the votes.
  18. I was under the belief that you can make HSA contributions independent of your employer or paycheck but I'm neither a CPA nor HR rep. Somehow you will need to report this as tax-deferred on your 2024 tax return. I don't know if this is just you attesting to it, or if the financial HSA entity sends you a tax doc.
  19. I casually watched last night. It didn't help Walz that he was nervous at the beginning. Understandable but he should have had a rehearsed but seemingly natural opening remarks. Vance did it right by opening about his past. Hopefully a candidate can give a elevator speech about themselves without sounding nervous.
  20. It's actually a decent academic argument on whether the vote should count or not but it doesn't seem remotely realistic to administer. We use Election Day as a clear line for new 18 year olds to be eligible to vote, but you don't have to be alive on Election Day to have your vote counted. I could be convinced that an early/absentee vote for a dead person should be disallowed. Watch this scenario play out and Trump lose GA by 1 vote. Obviously Carter would not be the ONLY person in this situation but he's the one we're 99.9% clear on his ballot.
  21. Unsure if this is related to the recent law changes or established hospital/religion practices. Story link In CA, a pregnant woman, 15 weeks-carrying twins, goes to an ER with a Catholic affiliated hospital. Article isn't clear if she chose the ER location or not. you can read the medical details yourself but the ER docs told her that the twins would not survive and she needed an emergency abortion for her own health. Hospital has 2 rules for an abortion: mother's life in danger AND the fetus cannot have a pulse. Sadly one of the twins looks to have had a pulse but not believes to be viable. her husband had to drive her to another hospital, where the scene reads as horrible. She had a miscarriage and an abortion. CA is suing the hospital for not providing adequate care based on CA laws. In unrelated news, the hospital which saved the woman is closing. Docs there say this wasn't the first situation like this.
  22. Mon Oct 21st. goes until Fri Nov 1st. Word of warning about voting. Everyone loves to take a picture or film their ballot. Technically that's against the rules (law?) so just don't do it. The rule is actually about not using an electronic device in the vote center. I would assume vote center folks have a tendency to attract former hall monitors. I assume you can film your absentee ballot at home.
  23. Screw landry’s restaurants, golden nugget and the rockets.
  24. I assumed that was just a Taylor swift merch guitar listed for $40 on Amazon with her signature printed on it. And a setup bid to get attention. Fairly successful hoax.
