  1. Outside of the Family Guy chart, how should we distinguish between 2 good guys with guns vs 2 guys who are about to shoot up the place? Do we wait until they get 100 rounds off at the customers? Also it's not an unreasonable thought to be afraid for your life when these two guys walk in with enough guns/ammo to take out a platoon. If I'm also armed, would/should a Texas jury convict me to firing on these 2? Better safe than sorry.
  2. Cute in thinking that the USPS under Louis DeJoy will deliver a ballot to Austin. The address will be categorized as unreadable.
  3. I wouldn’t start worrying about 2032 and the electoral college. States like TX and FL are circling the drain in many ways. Not all but many. People are starting to leave FL because home ownership costs are too high partially due to DeSantis’ poor policies. Maybe someday in Texas our voters will realize how badly the state has been managed in the last 25 years under GOP leadership. and as always, the parties and platforms will shift to find an approximate 50/50 equilibrium.
  4. They don’t even fully understand the problems facing America. Instead they just listen to what Trump tells them.
  5. I’m skeptical that some will really sit out. Regardless I imagine there are more than a few Republican voters who know some of trumps economic talking points are bs. Whether it’s the idea that we need to triple natural gas extraction to across-the-board tariffs helping the consumer. These gop voters try to convince themselves that Trump doesn’t really mean that. I recall an older voter from a 2016 interview that Trump didn’t mean a literal wall with Mexico, it was only a metaphor.
  6. 538 now has Harris at a 0.8% overall favorable rating, her highest since '21. In comparison Trump is at -10% favorable rating.
  7. The Texas Democrat Party (do they really even exist?) has been a failure in letting Texas go without a fight. Even if you are destined to lose, it's important to retain whatever ground you have. They are plenty of potential Democrat voters in Texas who are surrounded by vocal GOP voters. Many just either don't bother voting or they succumb to the pressure of voting GOP. And even some may be voters who might bounce back and forth but they won't if they're ignored.
  8. Yes. And even if the Trump campaign ultimately does not focus on FL, they waste time, including fielding calls from Rick Scott, thinking about it. You may even get them to make some mistakes. The only argument about spending money in decided states is that you may slightly move the national numbers, which can impact undecided states. People have a tendency to follow the crowds. Not to mention that you might as well spend excess money in states or districts that can help you if you end up winning. Helping Tester get elected, or winning that one more House race may be extremely important in upcoming years.
  9. This is a reminder that when you hear someone call Kamala a Marxist, sincerely ask them to define a Marxist because you don't understand what it means. It will make them look and feel stupid. Most likely they will reply with communist or socialist. I would wrap up that conversation in that the Red Scare was proven to be fake in the 50s.
  10. You can also set up an Apple high yield savings account, managed by GS, where the rewards are automatically deposited to the savings account. All managed thru the same Apple Card app.
  11. Is the husband friends with her school choice guy?
  12. When Trump loses, much of the blame will be on him alone. However there should be attention that the failure to nominate Nikki Haley as the VP spot is also a reason. Put Haley in the VP role, and Trump would be up several points right now and potentially cruising to a victory.
  13. There just isn't enough votes in the urban centers to win. National Dems just can't get any messaging to stick in the rural areas and the extreme red suburban (think Montgomery County) counties. And there is effectively no state Dems at least in the eyes of these voters. The only way to win is to find the potential moderates in this areas to convince them to not vote GOP. If someone can solve that problem, they can earn a pretty penny from the DNC.
  14. This man is a GOP hero for standing up to Trump and those who want to put their fingers on the scale to help Trump secure a victory. I agree that it's Nebraska's choice to make but not in the weeks leading up to the election. I imagine the death threats are already being made to his office.
  15. Heard an interesting point regarding Harris and energy. She's been told by Silicon Valley types that American needs to increase it's electricity generation because of AI needs. Look at MSFT effectively buying Three Mile Island for their own exclusive use this past week. We don't need incremental electricity generation but order of magnitude increases. Harris is stuck that the right doesn't believe her, or want to believe her, when she says that she won't ban fracking or other extraction methods. But she has to be careful about not pissing off the progressive side that doesn't want to recognize that we just can't go with more solar panels and wind farms.
  16. I have to think that private employees in Texas, specifically brand new employees to an employer, have defined benefit pensions in the very low single digits today.
  17. I could agree at 52%. 50% feels too low in today's America.
  18. More than a fair number of GOP voters are mad that some gay/trans agenda is overwhelming them. Of course they can never point to a personal examples other than the 1-in-a-million school athlete from a Fox News story or bathrooms. They've been told it's a problem so therefore it becomes a priority for them.
  19. There’s a wealth of knowledge on this board. The more details that you feel comfortable sharing, someone might have advice how to get your medicine for less. Some doctors and even benefit managers don’t have knowledge about every possible avenue. Assuming the costs cannot be lowered you are looking at a beginning $5400 in the first six weeks and then $1800 per month afterwards. Setting aside the upfront, is there anything you can do to increase your income by 2k/month take home? New job, overtime, etc. or can you reduce expenses by $2k? Some combo of more income and lowered expenses? The only thing that surpasses the importance of your health is the health of loved ones. Do what you can to get the right treatment
  20. @Jiggy-Z is your older partner the one with the sales/client relationships or is that you? If it’s him and he wants out, I assume the business is effectively over. If it’s you, look to sell the company, and you agree to hang around for a few years to transition the business. For a good salary assuming you retain the business.
  21. Chances are getting higher that he will resign from the election, or perhaps out of spite he does not resign in order to burn the NC GOP. On the idea that he will resign, the replacement candidate will get Robinson’s votes but that candidate will be in the unique position to convince people to vote for Robinson on the ballot. Could the NC GOP find a credible candidate that would and could do that?
  22. so you're telling me this guy is part of the new mainstream GOP?
  23. In a crazy way I could see Atlanta elected officials liking hand count requirements. It creates short term jobs for their supporters. It’s a way to funnel tax dollars to their favorite people. They probably don’t like it popping up 6 weeks before the election.
  24. Georgia election board voting to require hand counts along with machine counts. Must be completed by the day after the election. This will cost millions and require new employees to be trained. Even the gop AG has said this wasn’t legal especially considering how this close the election. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/09/20/trump-georgia-election-board-hand-count-ballots/ my guess is that the gop controlled election board knows a judge will overturn their new rule but it gives them evidence how the deep state is against ballot integrity and Donald Trump.
