  1. just came here to post it. The individual polls have her a positive for several weeks now and it just took some time for 538 to knock down the weight of the older polls. great news. as comparison, Trump is at a -9.6% has been trending worse lately on 538. EDIT: 538 has also adjusted their overall win probability to 61-39. It was 55-45 a week ago. While not a giant move, it does show that we're going in the right direction, no matter who is truly ahead.
  2. Yep. I paid $2.50 the other day. I have to wonder if Trump has asked some oil execs what it would take to temporarily raise prices to $4. when I’m around some of my more trumpier friends, I like to talk about how great it is economically. I don’t assign any credit to Biden or the govt, but just throw out facts or perception. “Can’t believe it only cost $2.50 for gas.” “Crazy how well the stock market has taken off and hit all time highs. Anyone who owns stocks has never been better.” for one or two, I might get a “no thanks to Biden” for this good news. I play dumb and say that I don’t know who to credit but keep giving me more of the same regardless of who is in power.
  3. Bring in Michael Keaton to rally the troops in meeting the monthly quota numbers.
  4. I would bet the crisis manual item #1 is to release as little information as possible to limit liability claims. This will be the priority of the company. Wouldn’t be surprised if those in the evacuation zone are being asked to sign a release today in exchange for $5,000. We want to help you get back on your feet ASAP but I can only do that if you sign this 10 page document right this second. Not to mention PI lawyers also descending on them which is who I would sign with.
  5. When the price of gas, food, whatever goes up, then some blame the President. Hint: The President actually has extremely little to do with prices across the board. After all we're a capitalistic economy not an authoritarian dictatorship. But when someone gets a promotion, raise at work, or new high paying job, it's all due to their hard work and not because that employer is selling their product/services at higher levels due to inflation.
  6. We intentionally make it easy for the wrong people to get their hands on firearms. It should be expected that these people and firearms end up where we all agree they should not be there. Law enforcement is given little power to prevent it. Instead of potentially stopping the assassin at many gates along the way, we instead have limited safety enforcement at the very last step. Sometimes law enforcement is successful at stopping them, sometimes they're not. And I agree that gun restrictions will not stop all assassinations or mass murders. It will just lower the incidents. But America has decided otherwise.
  7. Time to upgrade from SD to 4K. A good 55 inch TV can be <$500.
  8. While completely stupid, it would be hilarious if the Dems become the the “we’re not eating cats” party implying the opposite of the gop.
  9. Love how everyone in these loomer media discussions avoid the obvious. Trump has other loonies in his orbit and some are attractive compared to loomer but there must be strong rumors which is putting the focus on her. Two current mentions of her on the cnn homepage. I expect some trump allies are feeding the press info hoping Trump will send her home. Trump probably can’t just kick her to the curb. She’s the type who shows up to your office when mad. In this case she can scream about their late night campaign advice sessions.
  10. Depending on Spurrier’s business interests or financial needs, if any, he may be forced to apologize or clarify his statement. If some southerners hear that he is anti-gun or woke, he could potentially lose a lot of money. both sides like to accuse each other of cancel culture but in reality they both do it.
  11. Used to work with a guy who would make jokes that came across as out of left field. After a while, a few of us figured it out by asking him about each joke. His explanation made us realize that he would listen to a real conversation and then continue the conversation in his head ultimately leading to a “funny” retort which he would say out loud. It only slightly made sense in context of the conversation in his head. Elon is most likely a very lonely guy and even if he has people around him, it’s only because of his money. That doesn’t excuse his boorish if not offensive behavior, but it’s the most likely explanation. In his mind, this tweet was a funny and clever message.
  12. I respect the guy’s actions but there’s a point that you’re just wasting your money. Which is his right.
  13. I can guarantee that this story gave some rednecks ideas on where they can easily poach duck. “ I never thought about parks or cemeteries. Let’s head out after 10 tonight.”
  14. Yeah but the following speaks to Cook's tenure. Oct 2011 (Jobs' passing) market cap: ~$375 billion Sept 2024 market cap: $3,390 billion
  15. At one point it was Comet Pizza in DC, or caravans in Mexico. Today it's apt complexes in Aurora, CO and entire cities like Springfield.
  16. Once a story gets into their echo chamber, it's impossible for facts to knock it out. They still refuse to believe that the election wasn't stolen. After all, they see 1000s of people confirming the stolen election in their news feeds, so it must be true to some extent.
  17. As an aside, would be annoying to work late in the office and the building across the way is projecting a light saber onto your office window. Almost as bad as having a Kenny Rogers' Roasters across the street.
  18. My guess is that we have two different stories from Ohio that are mistakenly but more likely intentionally combined to be anti-immigrant and racist. Crazy American citizen arrested for eating a pet cat. Allegedly someone who looks to be a Haitian immigrant (i.e. evil, black person) poaching ducks or geese from a city park. As the stories get posted and reposted on Facebook, it's turned into hordes of illegal Haitian immigrants stealing pets and eating them. I'm sure the Springfield PD has dozens of reports of cat eating Haitians because non-Springfield residents read the Facebook stories and call the police to report it. We have some who are posting this to stir up anti-immigrant hate. Then you have well intentioned but basically racist, everyday people who want to believe it. Basically DT or TexAgs folks.
  19. I'm unsure of the video that you mention but there was an Canton, Ohio woman who was arrested for abusing and eating a cat. She's an American citizen with mental issues.
  20. Garland is having a press conference today to talk about DOJ employees receiving threats. Some like to casually toss out the word, fascism, without fully understanding the term. I don't claim to be fully knowledgeable as well but I know fascism has a violent component whether threats or actual. Trump going full fascist in the next presidency is not a zero percent chance.
  21. I hate carrying things around. Minimal money wallet with an ID, couple of credit cards. Keys. Phone. Like you, AirPod Pros are now in the mix for about 1/2 of my trips away from home. If I'm grabbing lunch alone somewhere or shopping in Home Depot, why not keep listening to the podcast that I started in my car. It's probably bad for human interaction to wall myself off from others like that but it's also not like I was chatting everyone up before anyway.
  22. In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in. They're eating the cats. They're eating -- they're eating the pets of the people that live there.
  23. I could handle that someone is undecided if they follow zero politics and consume non serious news. But if you watch that debate, no one undecided could be with Trump over Harris. I also don’t think this hypothetical undecided could remain undecided after watching. and in fairness, that the same undecided person, watching the first debate, would never vote for Biden.
