  1. CU is in the bottom 10 of the teams in the top 4 conferences. Maybe bottom 5. Fight me.
  2. Good rule of thumb that if you don’t understand, stay away. And this requires that you’re honest with yourself. I don’t mind saying that I must be too stupid to understand so I’ll pass. And complex products are not necessary for a large percentage of investors.
  3. Not to defend banks but they get grief from regulators for not quickly releasing funds when checks are deposited or ACHs received. Here they give their customers the benefit of the doubt and said customers steal from them.
  4. Texags posters believing Tim Pool in that he is the victim here. Nothing like a victim who earned millions due to the victimization event. SMH.
  5. Sorry. You can’t just say that people are risking more if they fail to participate in whole life. That’s is 100% inaccurate. Not even a whole life salesman would make that claim.
  6. If your mom is open to it, have her put you on the bank accounts as a joint-owner opposed to a POA. The funds will also be yours so you have an easier method to abide by her wishes, now and later.
  7. For President, the US is the only country. You could argue that Prime Ministers are effectively selected by an electoral college-like process. Take the UK. Basically each congressional district decides their rep (MP) and the MP of the majority decide the prime minister.
  8. At the most innocent, these podcasters knew they were being paid large sums of money for doing next to nothing. Tenet Media was paying the podcasters, like Rubin, $400K per month to produce 16 monthly videos of a couple of minutes each. Then Tenet would publish the videos on their platform(s) getting a few thousand views each. I don't see that being a crime say from Rubin's standpoint. Employers are allowed to overpay for services even to a ridiculous extent. Employees are allowed to be overpaid. Where these podcasters look stupid is that they 100% knew the value of these videos nowhere met the level of pay. Rubin or Pool must closely follow the # of views and $/views. They would be well aware that Tenet was paying most likely 1,000 to 10,000x the expected return. Once again, not a crime but you should somewhat ask questions if your boss decided to 1000x your salary. And if you're in the realm of political discussion, isn't a necessity to aware of who is paying you insane amounts of money?
  9. you just know they have a legal team trying to find a loophole to take over Harris County like they did with HISD. Perhaps add a new law that only applies to counties with more than 4m people.
  10. 100%. If an email is tempting you to donate, don't click on it. Go find the campaign's real website and donate there. Even if they tell you that donating via the email will trigger an automated match. That's just a psychological trick. In reality the match is going to be made regardless of any donation.
  11. If school shootings come up with my right leaning friends, I like to toss in that it appears that the cost of the unfettered 2nd amendment looks to be dead kids. I add that I feel for them sending their kids to schools these days.
  12. Not to get cr but one of the presidential candidates promised <$2 gasoline presumably for their entire term. Would that spook some traders?
  13. Thanks for the deeper explanation. I’m not fully following the need but perhaps it’s just not for me.
  14. I imagine one of the worst jobs in America right now would be prepping Trump on policy questions for debates or interviews.
  15. I wouldn’t be surprised if we find out that Clarence Thomas’ wife was a recipient of Russian money.
  16. All of the named pay-for-videos are also on the Turning Point USA frequent speaker lists: Pool, Rubin, Chen, Johnson, etc. Hard to believe that others with Turning Point are involved at some level. Would Charlie Kirk turn down money?
  17. What's Sack handle now? Zero chance that he has stayed away since he stopped posted under that name.
  18. I have one friend who can't not complain about gas prices if you spend more than 1 hour with him. He also works from home, and probably fills up his truck once per month. He also earns big dollars from a software company that sells to O&G majors. He has disagreed that any higher energy prices have put a $1 in his pocket. Come on man.
  19. yeah, calling MN or CO a battle ground state would be the same if Dems called Iowa or Missouri battleground states. Maybe they used to be, and it's not a 100% impossibility but it would take extraordinary circumstances for any of these states to flip.
  20. Trump is promising gas below $2/gallon. Might have to go ask the O&G thread how they feel about that outcome. But seriously this is just Trump running for 5th grade class president by promising no homework. I fully expect that before Election Day he will promise to eliminate all income tax on day 1.
  21. Great question. I struggle with how much I will need. Honesty I don't see how I will spend less in retirement except that I might "spend" less in investing activities. I work off an assumption that I will need my current take-home minus what I normally shove into my brokerage account, which isn't a consistent number. Health insurance costs will be higher in retirement. I may even initially need 10-15% more than my current take home because I no longer have a 40 hour job. I assume my fun spending will decrease over the decades. Have you calculated what you need or want to spend?
  22. I hadn’t heard this story where Clayborn was knocked down with one punch by a NFL reporter, Will McDonough, in the Patriots’ lockerroom. I’m going to guess that he took some grief from his teammates and opposing teams. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFJLeJAM/
  23. In trumps defense, he has had people that have paid to be his advisor but the two may have never met.
  24. Totally shocked over here that so many right influencers were taking money from Russia to be pro Russian. I’m sure that they will all feign ignorance and that it’s only a coincidence that their views were pro Russian while accepting all of that money.
  25. Yeah, I wouldn’t go too overboard with more than 6-9 months of expenses saved, based on your age. With you and your wife working, I would assume a low risk of both of you losing your jobs. Perhaps if you want to pay cash for your next car, you can save the excess cash for that. Otherwise start pushing funds into a post tax brokerage account. I have 20 years on you and I wish I had regularly contributed in this manner. And while it’s not a huge $ difference you might want to look at moving some/all of the HYSA funds into a 9-12 month CD to get ~5%. HYSA rates are quietly dropping. You might earn a couple hundred over that time for no risk.
