  1. you mean the guy who's failing pharamaceutical firm is waiting on FDA approval on drugs that have proven time and time again to fail? No, he shouldn't have any say in weeding out inefficiencies in govt. He has zero experience in that.
  2. never too late to join in.* not financial advice.
  3. I will bet anyone here that he will start having DOGE surveys on X: "Who thinks we should cut _____ dept and their 100 employees?"
  4. We're not far away from most investors owning bitcoin at least indirectly. Itโ€™s like you could be opposed a single S&P 500 company, but itโ€™s practically impossible to avoid owning them. I expect many funds to have bitcoin within 5 years. I expect the fund managers want to own it today but feel they canโ€™t.
  5. I wouldn't call bitcoin a ponzi scheme but it definitely is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. there are plenty of valuable assets that neither have intrinsic value nor create income. If someone wants to pay the equivalent of 89K for a bitcoin, that's its value. If no one wants to pay more than $0.25 for it, then that's the value.
  6. In 2016/17, it was about nominating people that there looked the part and were recommended by others. This year looks to be pure loyalty to Trump. Practically seems like Trump is calling them up and asking what they want. I would fully expect Kari Lake to get a high level role.
  7. Yeah but there is something about actually owning the bitcoin yourself. Buy 1 share of IBIT for $49 and you indirectly own some unknown percent of a single bitcoin. Maybe it roughly equals to $49/$88,000 but maybe it doesn't exactly. At some point, especially if govts or sovereign funds get involved, where is everyone finding bitcoin to buy. I guess that is when you have weeks like this where it's up 25-30%
  8. I'm unsure if there will be a major correction before 100. And in the fast moving times with crypto, a correction can be measures in hours before it's recovery. Just watched it blow through 86K on coinbase and almost 87. I assume they just are not many people selling and too many want in. Until recently it was feasible for many to aspire to owning a whole bitcoin. while not impossible, we're getting to the point where most couldn't/shouldn't put that much of their investable dollars into a whole bitcoin. I realize that owning a whole bitcoin doesn't create any special value for its owner.
  9. there may only be 14-15 million bitcoin in circulation. Technically there are 20m but there are estimates that many are lost meaning that they're inaccessible for a wide variety of reasons. But even if all 20m are available, any one entity locking up 5% is a big deal. Yes there are some btc evangelists who would hate this development but that's just like their opinion man. Personally I think it's a bad idea for the US govt to purchase something which is effectively a security. However no one is asking me. I can only react to the possibility.
  10. Wake up to basically 80k. This might be the push to 100 by EOY.
  11. He resigned as of March 2025. Instead he should be told that his services are no longer needed after 5pm today. Hand his ass a few empty boxes and tell him to get packing.
  12. Shows people can be fools when a financial company informs you that your funds are FDIC insured.
  13. Americans decided they want cruelty over compassion. Itโ€™s going to be really difficult to feel compassion for a Trump voter who suddenly realizes how much of their life was a benefit from the federal govt. autistic child loses some school programs. Cool, stay home to take care of your kid. And sorry kid your parents are idiots.
  14. agree. Any and everything is obviously fair game for criticism because Harris lost, but Dems need to do more than the GOP to get out messaging because the other side lies too much. It shouldn't be this way but it is. I think there is a flaw with in-person rallies. They're full of people who are voting for you. In some cases, people are waiting hours to hear you speak. You think an undecided voter is taking a day off to hear you talk? You don't think someone spending all day to hear you isn't already a motivated voter? You need to do rallies but you need to go where the undecided voters are or even voters on the other side. I understand declining some podcast or "tv" shows especially if the host is a criminal or other type of asshole but you can't ignore them if they have a large audience. Some of whom might be open to voting for you. Worse case you soften someone's approach to you or your policies.
  15. KellyAnne Conway will go down somewhat in history for popularizing if not creating the term, alternative facts. We all understand there can be spin on facts and stats can tell different stories but a fact is a fact. The opposite of which is a lie.
  16. I agree. Itโ€™s difficult to constantly play from behind where your message is that the other side is lying or misrepresenting your belief. Itโ€™s like that I donโ€™t see the GOP with an ad that theyโ€™re not fascists.
  17. on the trans issue, I'm just not sure what the Dems could do other than agree about sports which they effectively do as a group. I'm just uncertain how a political ad would communicate that.
  18. to me that was the platform. I didn't see Kamala call for more trans women in women's sports.
  19. what do you want Dems to do? Do you want them to lead the charge in requiring chromosome tests in order to play women's sports? This is like saying that both political parties should have outlawed 1960s civil rights because there were many racists in the country. (I didn't say Dems here because Dems were heavy on the racist side and eventually became republicans.)
  20. I work for an overwhelmingly liberal heavy company including having at least one, recently transitioned person. And yes, people mistakenly used the wrong name and pronoun especially at first. No one was fired.
  21. Where is the outrage at college sports or the NCAA? It's amazing how many conservative UT fans are boycotting UT football games over this.
  22. but it should be pointed out that no one is enforcing pronouns. Any "pronoun police" is only stopping a person who is intentionally trying to hurt or bully a coworker. If a coworker tells me that they prefer to be called Steve as opposed to their formal name of Stephen, I respect that. If I intentionally call him Stephen just to prove a point, it's fair that he or someone else tell me to cut it out. Maybe there is a big reason, which I don't have a right to know, he doesn't want to be called that. None of my business. I'm also not getting in trouble for calling him Stephen once just as I have never heard of someone being fired for pronouns.
  23. I'm not trying to turn this thread in a trans only discussion but I haven't seen one woman harmed or had their rights taken away due to trans rights. I know there is that one right wing commentator who is mad that she tied for 5th in a NCAA championship instead of having 5th place to herself. That's sad story is not keeping anyone up. but I agree with you that it's a big issue for the GOP. They've always been very successful in scaring people about bathrooms and sex behind closed doors. I truly believe it's their biggest winning issue over the last 50 years.
