  1. Great question on when to take it. Personally I don’t think of it as maximizing the SS income, or calculating the break even number, or some hedge against dying relatively young. If I’m dead, I won’t give a fuck if I broke even. my plan at 62 most likely will depend if I need it or want it. My expectation is that I won’t so why not wait a few years to draw SS benefits. Take the guaranteed 8% plus cola. Could I beat that in market? Who knows. I will already have plenty of other exposure to the markets so the different could be minor.
  2. high probability that our tax dollars are supporting those kids and bought that rascal scooter.
  3. Hopefully the schedule is roughly in that order. I get that many in the Dem party love the Clintons, but there comes a time (now) that Hillary needs to fade into the background more. You don't need to remind undecided and perhaps decided voters about her and her frequent losing in national elections. While Bill is creepy, I do put him in a slightly different category. He's a better natural politician than Hillary. He and Obama are the only 2-0 Dems since Truman and FDR.
  4. In the category of too much detail, the OK legislature gave $50 million split over 3 years for school security. The law stated that a school district wasn’t required to take the money each year but rather roll their annual amounts over to year 2 or 3 especially in case of a security project that needed the full 3 years of funding. Walter’s decided that the rollover wasn’t clear in the law and removed the funding. What he was going to do with that windfall is unknown. he did acknowledge their AG today and said he would give the money to the schools. What a great guy he is.
  5. Definitely odd split ticket polls results right now. Nevada and Ohio like their Dem senators in the polls but lean Trump for president. if the gop wins, what’s the consensus for majority leader? Thune?
  6. Ryan Walters decided to go against an Oklahoma law by refusing release millions of dollars given to school districts to bolster school security. Then proceeded to hide it by changing the language of the law on the state website. no surprise that cover ups never go well. Today the OK AG issued a demand telling Walters to release the money and that he hopes that no child was hurt due to his negligence.
  7. I believe that HISD has had to resort to hiring some uncertified personnel to fill the gaps.
  8. It was the luckiest day of Greg Kihn's life when he say an ad in the paper that the Greg Kihn Band was looking for a lead singer/guitarist. That opportunity doesn't present itself often.
  9. It also never hurts to see an internist where you speak to them of your overall issues. I'm going to assume the OP doesn't have a PCP or has hid this issue from them.
  10. Yep. It's the same people that whisper a complaint at work on why they're not allowed to create a white employee group. For many (all?) of them, it boils down to the fact that they're not allowed to say the n-word. Perhaps some would actually never say it. They just want the right to say it without repercussions or being criticized. and for the record, a taco with unseasoned ground beef and cheese, sounds horrible. Hopefully its 80/20 ground beef and not too lean.
  11. TexAgs is too busy telling each other what Trump really meant by those words.
  12. Greg Kihn of the Greg Kihn band passed away at 75 on Tuesday. Apparently complications due to Alzheimer’s.
  13. Kamala caused the crash, but Wall St., believing Trump will win, is the reason it went back up. Duh.
  14. Exactly. Tell a student that the Bible isn't fact, and start looking for a job by the end of the day for indoctrinating students against Jesus.
  15. Ha. The number of people where prayer has helped on an exam is zero. You're better off re-reading one more paragraph before the teacher hands out the test.
  16. When Trump has his "press conferences" he needs to be hammered with the names of people that he claims not to know but are in charge of this. In fact, play to Trump's ego. Tell him that Vought is claiming that Vought will dictate Trump's policies. That will set Trump off, and potentially move away from their horrible platform. On the off chance that Trump wins. There is no doubt that people are putting together many exec orders ready for Trump to sign. Most likely without Trump having a clue what is involved and definitely not knowing the impact.
  17. Would love to see the Texas Tribune ask every state senator, rep and major officeholders for the number of times and guests they've brought to Centerpoint's getaway compound. While it doesn't mean there is corruption, let's be clear on our politicians who appear tough on Centerpoint while simultaneously use them for vacations. And better yet, ask the same officeholders to commit to not using Centerpoint's compound until certain improvements are made.
  18. This has always been my view on those who fight to pray in the classroom. No one is stopping you from praying at home, on the ride to work, or even during your lunch break. Why do you need a minute at the beginning of home room? However this battle was lost long ago as I assume Texas students are praying in the classroom every day instead of learning.
  19. Was there a resisting arrest and battery charge since she attempted to get out of the cuffs and kick the officers?
  20. Just as the rise of Reagan saw many Democrats (esp Southern) quickly flip over to being Republicans, Trump could end up creating the opposite effect in pushing some back to the Dems. Take someone like Duncan. If he sees GA start to go blue, he or some other GOPer will see an opportunity to run as a moderate or conservative Dem. You take 80% of the Dem vote, many independents and 10% of the GOP vote, and you’re the next GA governor.
  21. There is a very low chance that these schools will teach the Bible and not preach. Which is the guideline.
  22. You know there was at least one state rep in that room flabbergasted on the statement that teaching the Bible could be construed as indoctrination. But but how can it be indoctrination when it’s the Truth?
  23. Are you finding plans for 10 cents or cheaper?
  24. In unrelated news, Amy Klobuchar just re-upped her DC condo lease for 6 more years.
