  1. Since several are posting that their doctors don’t advise getting a Covid shot, my internal med doc recently recommended that I get one and I have zero underlying health problems. And I got the shot a couple weeks later. As far as the comments that some people get the Covid vaccine and still get Covid, the vaccine doesn’t produce some shield around your body. You can still get infected and hopefully your body now has the ability to create antibodies against the Covid infection. And depending on the severity of your exposure , it may knock it out immediately or you experience a minimal infection. In some unlucky cases, it’s a bad infection. personally they can hit me up with any vaccine I don’t care. Covid, flu, shingles, whatever.
  2. Missed this post as the thread moves quickly. Quality post by @Pancho This can happen in conversations with only white people as well. I’ve heard a friend claim that something isn’t offensive or racist because it was ok 25 years ago. One, it wasn’t ok then but sadly past society somewhat accepted it. Two, the person making a comment doesn’t get to decide if those hearing it are offended. But they hold firm that it’s not racist. yes it’s possible that the offender was ignorant or had non-offensive intent but it doesn’t change how the listener felt about it.
  3. So sad and disgusting. Adult children of parents who are declining - watch your parents phones and bank accounts. https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTFXMpxRM/
  4. GWB has turned out to be the biggest coward. I didn't agree with many of the positions or policies but I had respect for him by the time he left office. I actually don't even believe that he votes for Trump and may vote Kamala, but he's afraid to say it.
  5. On the whole "did she work at McDonalds" she may have a slight misremembering of the exact details. If she completely made up working at a burger joint if not McDonalds, that's wrong. If she can't remember all of the details, it's understandable. Take Trump where he claims that he was one of the best high school baseball players in the state of NY. According to him, he even went to a pro tryout alongside future hall-of-famer, Willie McCovey. Sounds impressive. Investigations showed that Trump batted <.150 in high school but guess what, there are missing box scores from the 60s. I doubt the best player in NY batted that low. Perhaps his batting average was north of .150. And as for trying out alongside McCovey, McCovey was already in his 5th year in the MLB when Trump was a senior. So unless Trump tried out for the majors while in junior high, he's completely lying about the situation. As always Trump's lies are so numerous that we forget how many small lies he's told over the years.
  6. It's fair to say that Harris is not doing as well with certain demographics compared to previous election cycles but I question how many of those in changing voting patterns really showed up to vote before or now. Feels more like talk than action for most.
  7. I can only imagine the smell in that penthouse but the plaintiffs don't have to live there. Only get a realtor to sell it. I'm hoping that Rudy's health is strong enough that we can see him eventually living in a rundown trailer park. It's only a matter of time unless his kids take him in.
  8. Another point about the acknowledged flaws of 538's analysis is that they correctly predicted Biden AND had him 89-11 to win. They were right but a couple of thousands votes here and there, Trump would have won. In addition, they and the polls were completely wrong about 2016. Because of those flaws, I could see the idea that unless 538 is 100-0 or 99-1, it's too close to call given the margins of error.
  9. Obviously 538's analysis shows Trump with a slightly better chance to win but I think anything lower than 60-40 is effectively a tie. They're saying that in 100 simulations Harris only wins 49 times. In other words, it's a coin flip. And I would state the same if Harris was up 51-49 in their prediction.
  10. I have a few friends who could easily be classified as country club Republicans. They're repulsed by Trump and MAGA. They justify voting for Trump solely because they think all Dems are Marxists who want to flip America to communism. That's it for them. They may fundamentally disagree with Trump and his policies but he's not Kamala.
  11. The GOP would absolutely love to eliminate weekends but I believe judges would prevent that given the propensity for a fair number of African Americans voting on Sunday after church. Crazy how Harris County previously had one location going 24/7 and others offered drive through voting, but the GOP considered that giving Dems an advantage so that had to be legislatively disallowed. Can't make voting easy.
  12. EDITED to remove a statement that wasn't accurate for every Texas county. I really don't understand why anyone would wait for election day in Texas cities. On election day you're forced to vote at your precinct and you deal with longer lines. Voting early gives you complete flexibility to location and time, including the ability to delay it to another day if the line is too long. Outside of local runoff races, I can't recall the last time I voted on election day.
  13. No because I will think of Trump talking about someone's penis when I order it.
  14. I thought Harris came in slightly less than 2020 numbers. Rant: For the past few election cycles, I would often compare current turnout to previous turnouts for the counties. Run some analysis. The new Texas SOS website is about as horrible of a site that I've seen in a while. You can eventually get to the data but search functionality is poor. Whoever put that together is incompetent.
  15. He didn't say that wasn't happening as well.
  16. Trump ruined an Arnold Palmer (ice tea and lemonade) for everyone now. You can’t order it now.
  17. This happened to me. I have a HDHP and HSA and needed physical therapy this year. It was somewhere close to $200 per visit. The therapist prescribed twice per week, and I countered with one with take home instructions.
  18. Bluetooth can go over 30 feet depending on walls or the lack of them. Sounds like someone in the cloud is tracking your heart rate
  19. Off topic but a political issue. 1974 - minimum wage was raised to $2 1991 - it hit $4.25. More than doubling it in 17 years. We’re now 33 years later and it’s $7.25. At this rate, it may double the 1991 rate by the 50 year mark. Maybe. i checked a cost of living calculator, and the 1991 $4.25 would be $9.50 now.
  20. Yep. Their playbook will be to repeat unsourced stories again and again. Get the average, low info GOP voter to start repeating that they heard Dems are up to their old tricks again. Can’t trust the voting results unless Trump wins. Fox News will start reporting the reports and quietly end the story that they working to verify the story. When in fact they’re not.
  21. Faulkner is far from an unbiased questioner. Fox has her on because she’s African American and hates the Dems. Or hates the Dem for the money. I’ve watched her shows and I’ve never seen a fair question or comment out of her mouth. There is zero chance that I could prove, via paperwork, my first couple of pre-college grad jobs. There are SS reports that show I have income but the source (employer) isn’t listed. For sentimental reasons, I wish I had kept the paystub just to remind myself how far I’ve come. I think the first job was $3.85/hr but could be slightly off.
  22. well that sucks but I'm happy that to hear people are voting. The posted "people in line" stat was depressing.
  23. there is a general agreement that Ted Cruz sucks. Not that that stance is going out on a limb.
  24. In the past elections, the Texas SOS page had the daily numbers for the largest 15-20 counties. Some of the counties weren't as good as others in sending in daily updates especially over the weekends. They catch up on Monday or Tuesday. It's a weak reporting site since it ignores 230+ counties.
