  1. SIAP but good on Mayor Pete to call on JD to stfu about childlessness. When you comment on other people not having children, you never know the full story. Many people go through challenges with having children that the public or even friends may not have full awareness. Talking someone down because they don't have kids is immature, cruel and rude. https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/23/politics/video/buttigieg-responds-jd-vance-criticism-childless-democrats-sot-scr-digvid Not to mention that having kids or not is not a prerequisite in being a leader. It's mindboggling that Vance can have such poor critical thinking skills.
  2. I don’t know exactly what that guy said or meant to say but there is little reason to say college sorority vs sorority. No one calls those orgs college sororities still I would always error on the side of caution to not call someone a racist until they obviously prove otherwise.
  3. Good info. I wondered if this had occurred in modern history. If trump told Vance to quit, within the hour Vance would be telling us about a need to care for his family but respect their privacy by not asking why.
  4. Wtf Turner. Going on about it considering it. Either run or don’t but he’s playing this like if he was thinking of a run for president. He must be calling all of the other potentials and telling them how he will help them and their office/cause once he’s in the House. as mentioned above, do we really need to elect someone well into retirement age just do they can stay until they die?
  5. plan? 1. Push Harris to remove Biden. Or convince Biden to resign 2. impeach Harris. 3. President Mike Johnson 4. profit?
  6. They fired her tonight. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/education/article/fagen-fired-19591915.php
  7. I don't think they ever publicly talk about their security practices, or lack there of. And given our representatives, I think it would be a mistake to tell them behind closed doors since they will repeat what they heard.
  8. I assume that the USSS purposefully does not maintain audio recordings because the people that they "protect" need to feel secure in that the current situation will not be broadcast. One agent needing to communicate to another agent regarding a secret meeting, legitimate or even a less than legitimate personal meeting. If the protected person feels that confidential info is being recorded and maintained, they may look to get away from their security detail. The downside is that when a situation occurs, we have to rely on personal memories or cover ups.
  9. I'm unsure that the USSS has any investigatory authority over a situation like this. And honesty, I don't think we would want them to investigate their own.
  10. I'm pumped about Harris in the race. She can run on Biden's 3+ year record, her prosecution record and she doesn't have Biden's age baggage. As much as I understand that not everyone is thriving since 2021, I think the majority of Americans can say they're better off today than they were in Jan 2021 under Trump. They might lie about it, but they're better off today.
  11. As much as it might come down to luck, there's an argument that the Secret Service had a successful deterrence in this assassination attempt. A bloody nick to the ear is much better than what we saw with Reagan or JFK. Obviously the death and more serious injuries of this attempt should not be taken lightly even though the Secret Service doesn't take responsibility to protect everyone in close proximity. List of attempts I expected this list to include the shoe throw/dodge incident with GWB but it didn't.
  12. McRaven as a possible VP candidate? On the VP front, the military comparison would be a Marine public affairs corporal vs a 4-star admiral who ran Special Ops. I almost feel sorry for Vance. I'm not taking anything away from Vance but he should feel ashamed if his record was even mentioned in the vicinity of McRaven. On a side note, I'm late to the game how Vance has had 3 last names in his life. The first and second last names being after his biological and then step father. But then took his mother's maiden name at age 30 when he got married. What's the story there? I could understand that perhaps he didn't want his step dad's name but I can't recall ever hearing of someone changing their name at 30.
  13. Yep. I have zero sympathy but the GOP got played when the Dems flipped the script. Trump solely set up his campaign against Sleepy Joe and now they have to figure out how to go after someone who has more energy than Trump and can talk circles around Trump. And now Harris can pick a VP candidate who will trounce Vance in a debate, not that I expect there will be one.
  14. Out of curiosity, how many are in the generation after you and your brothers. If you have 3 kids and your uncles have 1 kid each, I assume your kids will each have a much smaller individual LLC share than their cousins. So your kids might be told what's going to happen as opposed to helping make the decision. Of course that could still happen if yours had many cousins that voted together. When older generations work well together and make a joint ownership pact, they shouldn't assume that future generations will get along in the same manner. My dad and his 2 siblings each had an equal share for an oil royalty. Because of deaths and different numbers of kids each, I find myself with a full share while some of my cousins and in one case, their kids have fractions of shares.
  15. Battery tech/costs doesn't seem feasible for many yet. If you have a gas connection, the whole home generator looks to be the best bang for your buck if you want the entire (most) of the house running. I assume that even with the whole home generator you have to ration usage by not running too much at the same time. I'm Team portable generator but I'm tempted to move up.
  16. What’s really sad is that you’re probably talking to some guy chained to a table/desktop in Myanmar. if you send 150k, he will earn a cookie with his dinner.
  17. Bryon Donalds was on Bill Maher last Friday. Said that when he walked around the RNC, fellow republicans see him as just another republican and not a black republican. No Byron. They only see you as a DEI hire to hide the exclusivity. They will be nice to you. Just don’t try and date their daughter or sister.
  18. this should be shown in contrast to when GOPers slammed Obama regarding fake news and McCain had the honor to tell them, to their face, that they were wrong about Obama. Even to the detriment to his own campaign. But Vance is definitely not a McCain. In relation to McCain, Vance would have: Found a deferment or option to stay out of Vietnam, or Took the offer to leave the Hanoi prison camp early, and Told the VC everything he knew and made up crap about other POWs to get preferred treatment
  19. While not the plan, Biden waiting as late as possible made other candidates less likely. It's similar to when a head coach resigns weeks before a season starts. An AD almost has no option but to promote an assistant.
  20. The Dems should actually state that it's all 44 that have refused to endorse him. Let the Trump campaign fight back by saying it's only 40 that refuse. It's a shame that the 40 aren't more vocal about their opposition. Not to mention that cowards like GWB who refuse to communicate their opinion about Trump but their silence is deafening.
  21. In 2020, Trump asked the former GA SOS for 12K votes and was refused. Now Trump is only asking for 1 less person on the ballot. WTF. Why can't these guys give Trump a simple favor.
  22. Jesus has forgiven Trump for any personal indiscretion, not that those indiscretions actually occurred. But he's forgiven nonetheless.
  23. Do the Republicans really want to bring personal conduct into the discussion?
  24. The one think I dislike about Kamala is that she the youngest boomer by being born in Oct ‘64. Only 3 months younger and Gen X would finally have their own President. Boomers had 4 of the last 5 presidents.
  25. Manchin would have had a shot this weekend if he had had the courage to challenge Biden in the primaries. Instead he decided to walk away from the Dems, and now is making noise of wanting back in the party.
