  1. I like the concept but we're getting to the point of raising our credit card limit so we can go to the mall later today. I'm in favor of adding to necessary govt services but we never want to address the costs. Most likely the only way to get this proposal passed is to give the Republicans a tax break. Receive less in tax revenue and spend more.
  2. Not DeSantis related but this feels like a good place to post as it’s hurricane related. Basically in the recent past the NC GOP (and a few willing Dems) lowered NC building codes at the behest of home builders. https://www.wbtv.com/2024/10/05/north-carolina-lawmakers-erode-building-code-years-before-helene-hit/ and it’s not just having more unsafe homes, NC estimates that they lost out on $70m in FEMA grants this year to help small towns reduce disaster risks. And unknowns in higher insurance premiums because insurers are aware of the impact of lower building codes. but hey, home developers can increase their profits. Insurers probably as well.
  3. Yep, NYT has something off with their polls. And others need to stop thinking they’re putting their thumbs on the scale. Most likely they have a flawed model that can only be adjusted when they eventually compare it to actual results.
  4. Last month someone gave the Washington post a handful of 2020 messages they had with Vance where Vance was critical of Trump. WashPo didn’t name the person but Vance knew that person works at Deloitte. now Trump allies (like Don Jr.) are calling to punish Deloitte for this action of their employee. Effectively fire Deloitte from their govt contracts. Mind the fact that no laws or ethics were broken. Someone is allowed to share communications that they have with others. Vance had no expectation of confidentiality. The path towards an autocratic country is staring us in the face. Trump and his bullies want to force every politician and company to subjugate to his will. Failure to do so will be destruction. Should Deloitte protect one employee against the potential of laying off thousands? Should a private company be put to a decision like that? https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/08/business/deloitte-trump-leaked-jd-vance-messages/index.html
  5. There is merit that traditional media has a place in political interview but they’re in the position of being ignored because they refused to hold politicians accountable especially Trump. Looking at you Fox. trump will tell Fox viewers that he will reverse high prices and get them back to when he was previously president. That’s impossible but Fox won’t call him on it. Harris assertion that her anti price gouging laws will lower prices is also bs. However why go on face the nation or Anderson 360 and have them hold her feet to that fire.
  6. I don’t understand staying back to protect your things from looters. And like someone else said, what does a guy have in his late 20s that looters want that insurance won’t replace.
  7. It would be great if PredictIt offered bets on polymarket's demise.
  8. The best betting markets are hammering the obvious wrong bets like those betting on Trump to win the popular vote or Kari Lake winning AZ. you don't get rich but it's easy money. The only two risks that I see. 1) Something drastic occurs (i.e. harris announces she's dropping out) and you're late to get out of the bet. 2) A site like Polymarket goes offline and doesn't pay out.
  9. Isn't the current consensus is that it won't be a cat 5 when hitting Florida on Wednesday?
  10. Makes sense to me that relatively small betting pools could be manipulated by large bettors. Say they're sitting on a bunch of Trump bets already. Push some more money into Trump hoping to influence the market. The crowd follows. Dump all of your bets. Maybe you break even on the newer bets but your rake with the others.
  11. Does someone really have to say the reason why it’s different with Soros? We can speak about it in hushed tones in public or out loud at the country club.
  12. I'm not a religious man but I'm starting to see that God is unhappy with Florida. Seriously I see that CNN is warning of potential growth to a 4 of 5. Scary stuff. and back to unserious. the X morons are discussing this as engineered storms by the deep state. They believe that but the concept of climate change is impossible to them.
  13. I assume that some folks are non-political and unaware of Elon’s antics. Hell I would bet a few percentage of Tesla buyers don’t even know Elon’s name. After all, how many Ford or GM buyers know the CEO or board chair name today? With those few people excluded, I agree with your assessment.
  14. @RDCanecutter Is keytruda an infusion service received at a clinic? If so, they could be why there isn’t a drug copay since your copay is actually an copay to your doctor for services. Are you paying high amounts to the doctor each year? This could be what SmartRx assist will assist with. Might be worth following through on this. Of course if you hit your overall out-of-pocket max regardless, it might not matter other than delaying the max threshold until later in the year. The only 0.001% chance that I would worry is could the process lead to the keytruda infusion being rejected by your insurance as not necessary based on new information. I’m not saying this could happen but I would ask the doctors business manager about their experience with smart Rx. Warning. I’m just some guy on the internet and don’t work in health insurance or with doctor offices so don’t take my thoughts as gospel. good luck on your health.
  15. DeSantis and Florida must be running scared about the abortion amendment. Perhaps polls showing they’re going to lose. However states legislatures often find methods to ignore public referendums especially if they feel voters have short memory.
  16. In fairness to this congressman, he saw a comment on a X post that stated that the Biden Admin is pumping up EV sales with taxpayers dollars. Perfectly reasonable to use that as evidence against the secretary of transportation in a hearing.
  17. The kamala podcast strategy is intriguing and even the Trump team dipped their toe in with an interview with Dave Ramsey. Couple thoughts. if this helps Kamala, it could be the death of Sunday morning and cable interviews. Or at least they will be deprioritized. these podcasts give the ability to show your human side with a long form format, if you can handle it. I have to wonder if Mark Cubans recent podcast interviews isn’t a coincidence. Call her daddy and Stern can both be sex filled talk but the hosts would stay away from that. Call her daddy can gotv with young, college aged women. Maybe stern can break down a few open minded non-college blue collar workers. Hes clear on his support of Dems so his loyal listeners at least tolerate that. Or change the channel
  18. How disgusting that an ex-military member gives a Purple Heart to a draft dodger. Even if Trump can’t stop the offer, a decent would refuse to take that from a vet.
  19. His crowds have admitted to reporters that they don’t care if he lies.
  20. Elons jumping display is perfect evidence that he doesn’t have a PR rep. Maybe he’s not used to a crowd cheering him, but any decent pr rep would have told him to just wave and shake trumps hand.
  21. Why isn’t Tillis calling out individuals who are lying about the situation and creating chaos? Hmmm. The only brave republicans are the ones who are retiring. There have been exceptions but they realize that it’s the end of their gop career.
  22. Exactly. We don’t need to seek out intellectual conferences here when gun/nazi paraphernalia shows just travel non-stop across Texas cities.
  23. Elon has lost some weight. Good for him.
  24. I recall that around 2000 many GenX sports fan used Jim Rome terms and sayings. Dome, fish wrap, moellered, crack wagon, grill, jack, etc. Those ultimately ended when the next group up wanted to be unique.
  25. Recently went with a covid vaccine for the first time in over 2 years. Hearing about too many people getting covid and that this was the worst infection they’ve had.
