  1. No shit. Why not just play the game. You might actually win. A college level female volleyball player hasn’t frequently played against men for her entire career? instead they decide to show SJSU by giving them the win.
  2. BTW, it's always important to remember that the Washington Times (author of this story) is owned by a cult.
  3. I don't know enough to say whether this player should be in the match or not but this only the University of Wyoming trying to make a political point. If one school is questioning the eligibility of any player from another school, then it's up to the conference or the NCAA to decide eligibility. But you still play the game under protest. Then if the conference/NCAA rules in your favor, you receive the win. Personally I don't think Wyoming should received a forfeit loss, they should be disqualified from the entire conference season. You don't want to play in the conference, then the conference should honor their wishes.
  4. I assume that when you tell these bots to STOP, it only confirms that it's an active number and they can sell the number for even more to the next campaign.
  5. I'm playing contrarian here. If Person A was a Democrat precinct chair who has voted Democrat 100% of their life but Person A dies the day before Election Day, we do not allow their family to cast Person A's vote on Election Day even though everyone agrees that is how they would've voted. Early and absentee voting is about convenience and the inability to vote on Election Day for a number of reasons. It should not be used to get around rules that are applied on Election Day. As I said this is only an academic argument that has a very small impact and most likely has never decided a widespread or important election. I wouldn't want to waste the funds building a process around validating life while counting the votes.
  6. I was under the belief that you can make HSA contributions independent of your employer or paycheck but I'm neither a CPA nor HR rep. Somehow you will need to report this as tax-deferred on your 2024 tax return. I don't know if this is just you attesting to it, or if the financial HSA entity sends you a tax doc.
  7. I casually watched last night. It didn't help Walz that he was nervous at the beginning. Understandable but he should have had a rehearsed but seemingly natural opening remarks. Vance did it right by opening about his past. Hopefully a candidate can give a elevator speech about themselves without sounding nervous.
  8. It's actually a decent academic argument on whether the vote should count or not but it doesn't seem remotely realistic to administer. We use Election Day as a clear line for new 18 year olds to be eligible to vote, but you don't have to be alive on Election Day to have your vote counted. I could be convinced that an early/absentee vote for a dead person should be disallowed. Watch this scenario play out and Trump lose GA by 1 vote. Obviously Carter would not be the ONLY person in this situation but he's the one we're 99.9% clear on his ballot.
  9. Unsure if this is related to the recent law changes or established hospital/religion practices. Story link In CA, a pregnant woman, 15 weeks-carrying twins, goes to an ER with a Catholic affiliated hospital. Article isn't clear if she chose the ER location or not. you can read the medical details yourself but the ER docs told her that the twins would not survive and she needed an emergency abortion for her own health. Hospital has 2 rules for an abortion: mother's life in danger AND the fetus cannot have a pulse. Sadly one of the twins looks to have had a pulse but not believes to be viable. her husband had to drive her to another hospital, where the scene reads as horrible. She had a miscarriage and an abortion. CA is suing the hospital for not providing adequate care based on CA laws. In unrelated news, the hospital which saved the woman is closing. Docs there say this wasn't the first situation like this.
  10. Mon Oct 21st. goes until Fri Nov 1st. Word of warning about voting. Everyone loves to take a picture or film their ballot. Technically that's against the rules (law?) so just don't do it. The rule is actually about not using an electronic device in the vote center. I would assume vote center folks have a tendency to attract former hall monitors. I assume you can film your absentee ballot at home.
  11. Screw landry’s restaurants, golden nugget and the rockets.
  12. I assumed that was just a Taylor swift merch guitar listed for $40 on Amazon with her signature printed on it. And a setup bid to get attention. Fairly successful hoax.
  13. Wouldn’t shock me at all that companies involved with electrical generation understand and implement strategies to increase profits during a crisis. Why wouldn’t they do that. Lord knows that they won’t even publicly be shamed much less punished. I suppose the PUC or ERCOT could tell their CEO, behind closed doors, to be more careful about getting caught.
  14. This guy may have only been a volunteer (unpaid?) at Prestonwood church in north Dallas but good enough to make the list.
  15. Amos was also great the often broadcast The Beastmaster.
  16. I'm in the middle of the GenX age range and it wouldn't surprise me that GenXers are on the Trump side. Many are scared of the future and retirement is rapidly approaching. When you have uncertainties of your economic future, it's easy to fall prey to lies that today and the future will be financially worse under Harris. Social media has proven that people are more likely to engage with negative than positive. Saying, "Harris will destroy America" hits emotions more than "Trump will improve the economy." Many Gen X women love their Facebook.
  17. Tonight Walz needs to explicitly state that JD is the driving force behind MAGA and the campaign. Several times. Trump will be seething if anyone even implied the campaign wasn't solely about him. I believe Trump would put JD on the sidelines if Walz made this comment.
  18. At the ULM game, I saw a young guy walking around DKR with a tshirt that had "Taxes are gay" on the back. Thought that was weird but this article explains the origin on that. MAGA and Kid Rock are just a more mainstream version of juggalos. Sure a few more old style republicans show up to the rallies but they wouldn't let the majority of the audience walk in their front door. Kid Rock mentions in this article how he will return to non-political after the election. I highly doubt that. He will learn that Trump is his only brand and trying to appeal to a wider audience will only alienate those will might show up to his shows.
  19. The concept of a state ID is out of date. We should have a national ID that can have attributes of a Texas drivers license or resident. And with this change, Paxton's opinion about gender wouldn't matter.
  20. And if anyone (daughter, wife, not their wife) in their life has an unwanted pregnancy, flying to another state is not a big deal. They might even be anti-abortion but they believe in exception for themselves.
  21. FWIW, Directv bought out Dish today for $1 plus assumed it's debt. Simultaneously private equity firm TPG Capital bought out the remaining ownership of Directv. https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/30/media/directv-dish-network-merger/index.html
  22. Lara Trump will ensure that the RNC buys these watches at full price and then hand them out to VIP donors. I could see Trump learning how some donors give directly to the RNC, bypassing his campaign, and they needed a method to point that money back over to him.
  23. If you have anyone in your life that you want to see them vote, make sure they're registered. check registration: https://teamrv-mvp.sos.texas.gov/MVP/mvp.do register: https://vrapp.sos.state.tx.us/index.asp (or check with your local county's website) pick up a blank voter registration forms at county offices, post offices, libraries or apparently some high schools Of course Texas doesn't want you to vote, so the online application only completes a form that must be printed, signed and mailed/walked-in to the county office. Any mailed application must be postmarked by the 7th. @immamac can you pin this to the top for the next week?
  24. Trumpists say that "mainstream media" is all liberals, and progressives say that "mainstream media" is conservative.
