  1. There just isn't enough votes in the urban centers to win. National Dems just can't get any messaging to stick in the rural areas and the extreme red suburban (think Montgomery County) counties. And there is effectively no state Dems at least in the eyes of these voters. The only way to win is to find the potential moderates in this areas to convince them to not vote GOP. If someone can solve that problem, they can earn a pretty penny from the DNC.
  2. This man is a GOP hero for standing up to Trump and those who want to put their fingers on the scale to help Trump secure a victory. I agree that it's Nebraska's choice to make but not in the weeks leading up to the election. I imagine the death threats are already being made to his office.
  3. Heard an interesting point regarding Harris and energy. She's been told by Silicon Valley types that American needs to increase it's electricity generation because of AI needs. Look at MSFT effectively buying Three Mile Island for their own exclusive use this past week. We don't need incremental electricity generation but order of magnitude increases. Harris is stuck that the right doesn't believe her, or want to believe her, when she says that she won't ban fracking or other extraction methods. But she has to be careful about not pissing off the progressive side that doesn't want to recognize that we just can't go with more solar panels and wind farms.
  4. I have to think that private employees in Texas, specifically brand new employees to an employer, have defined benefit pensions in the very low single digits today.
  5. I could agree at 52%. 50% feels too low in today's America.
  6. More than a fair number of GOP voters are mad that some gay/trans agenda is overwhelming them. Of course they can never point to a personal examples other than the 1-in-a-million school athlete from a Fox News story or bathrooms. They've been told it's a problem so therefore it becomes a priority for them.
  7. There’s a wealth of knowledge on this board. The more details that you feel comfortable sharing, someone might have advice how to get your medicine for less. Some doctors and even benefit managers don’t have knowledge about every possible avenue. Assuming the costs cannot be lowered you are looking at a beginning $5400 in the first six weeks and then $1800 per month afterwards. Setting aside the upfront, is there anything you can do to increase your income by 2k/month take home? New job, overtime, etc. or can you reduce expenses by $2k? Some combo of more income and lowered expenses? The only thing that surpasses the importance of your health is the health of loved ones. Do what you can to get the right treatment
  8. @Jiggy-Z is your older partner the one with the sales/client relationships or is that you? If it’s him and he wants out, I assume the business is effectively over. If it’s you, look to sell the company, and you agree to hang around for a few years to transition the business. For a good salary assuming you retain the business.
  9. Chances are getting higher that he will resign from the election, or perhaps out of spite he does not resign in order to burn the NC GOP. On the idea that he will resign, the replacement candidate will get Robinson’s votes but that candidate will be in the unique position to convince people to vote for Robinson on the ballot. Could the NC GOP find a credible candidate that would and could do that?
  10. so you're telling me this guy is part of the new mainstream GOP?
  11. Any day now.
  12. In a crazy way I could see Atlanta elected officials liking hand count requirements. It creates short term jobs for their supporters. It’s a way to funnel tax dollars to their favorite people. They probably don’t like it popping up 6 weeks before the election.
  13. Georgia election board voting to require hand counts along with machine counts. Must be completed by the day after the election. This will cost millions and require new employees to be trained. Even the gop AG has said this wasn’t legal especially considering how this close the election. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/09/20/trump-georgia-election-board-hand-count-ballots/ my guess is that the gop controlled election board knows a judge will overturn their new rule but it gives them evidence how the deep state is against ballot integrity and Donald Trump.
  14. Re: Montana race. A big issue in Montana is public land mgmt especially with the belief that billionaires have locked up too many private lands. The federal govt owns about 30% of Montana. Tester wants the feds to continue to own/manage the land, whereas his gop opponent Tim Sheehy has made comments about transferring federal land to the state or counties, and there is a belief that he wants some of it sold off to private ownership. Sell it off and the public can't access it. Sheehy has of course said that he doesn't want the public to lose access to these lands. Tester is doing his best to make Montanans not believe that. Not a difficult talk since Sheehy is himself a very wealthy, first generation ranch owner. Sheehy has also been very quiet about his past. He just seemed to pop up in Montana in 2014 and admits that he grew up in Minnesota. That doesn't disqualify him from running for Senate but smaller Western communities can be wary of carpetbaggers.
  15. I bet there is this wild speculation. Two friends/co-workers in law enforcement don't normally get into a gun fight while at work.
  16. While I'm sure that the regulations and reporting are heavy, it's because too many employers played fast and loose with their employees' pensions in the past leaving the taxpayer holding the bag.
  17. I would assume that your employer is locking down backgrounds.
  18. Pleasantly surprised that Cruz agreed to an debate on a Tuesday night. I would have figured that he would follow Abbott's lead in going with Friday night debates so no one watches. But then again Cruz surprises in that he will put himself out there even when he knows its not his audience. Like when he played Jimmy Kimmel in basketball.
  19. 100%. Embrace the right talking points, throw in sex for whoever makes FN personnel decisions, and profit.
  20. 0.01% this happened. If it did occur then this guy is worst story teller in the history of the world. He had the option to add the complete narrative of how they approached him, what they said, and more of their reactions to his heroic action. He can't tell a story after >11K posts on tigerdroppings? If there was any incident, it's more like the following. 1-2 guys walked up to him at a construction site. Not 4 guys. The hero of the story is wearing a spotless dress shirt driving a pickup that has never been used as a pickup. The guy(s) asks if there is any work available. Looking for an honest wage for a hard day of work. The hero draws his guns tell the guy(s) to go back to Haitia because he doesn't want no Spanish speaking illegals on his work site. They walk away happy that they didn't have to endure working for him. (Note, I'm 100% aware that Haitians don't normally speak Spanish and def don't have a Spanish accent.)
  21. Agree that bad news for Gaetz can hurt Trump in Florida. of course I’m starting to believe that gop scandals actually help them because most of their base believe it’s fake media and they need to vote to demonstrate their distrust of media.
  22. He wins his district by 30+ points each election. He’s not going anywhere.
  23. I was only joining about Jordan running in NC. First he’s notoriously apolitical and I’m sure he has zero desire to be governor of nc. I will work on my words to be more obvious about my intent.
  24. There are reports that NC has laws that could allow the gop to replace Robinson if he resigns between now and Election Day. Any vote for him would go to the next nominee. There is something about posting info at all voting locations what occurs if they vote for Robinson. still I have to think any gop candidate is going to lose. Unless they convince Michael Jordan to run.
  25. If the Robinson story leak was really an attempt by some in the state GOP to get him to quit, they obviously waited too late to get the story out. Resigning takes days if not a week. He wasn’t going to quit within hours.
