  1. Dan also believes that the Trump jury deliberation wasn’t long enough. Um, do we really believe that the Texas Senate spent more than 5 minutes deciding on Paxton? I know they took longer for appearances but it wasn’t really a longer deliberation than trumps jury.
  2. Except they heard 5 weeks of evidence and the defense effectively offered no defense. And as far as it being 34 counts. It was basically 1 crime repeated 34 times.
  3. Moderate Republican running for office? Come on man.
  4. Reading social media where stupid GQP (and Mike Johnson) want SCOTUS to proactively review the case. liberals should jump on that given that we would go right to the last appeal. I’m all for fast tracking the appeal so he has to serve his sentence, pay his fines or in theory have the conviction overturned. Let’s do it.
  5. As Texas inches closer to the potential of flipping blue, we will see more and more extreme protections attempts by the gop. They can’t envision a bigger disaster than every statewide office being a Democrat. I have no doubt that they want one county=one vote as we always see their lame maps showing how much land overwhelmingly votes for the gop.
  6. It’s a bit redundant but with both you can look to see how the precheck line is moving before deciding which line to go through. You basically get to cut the precheck line but the overall speed depends entirely how many CLEAR agents are there. I only have CLEAR because it was a free perk with my credit card. Not sure I would recommend it to someone who had to pay.
  7. Who pissed in your cereal today? I wasn’t attacking you for your travel style but you decided to be a dick back at me.
  8. Lounges are a step above sitting out in the fray, and getting mediocre food for free instead of paying for it. I find that the demand is so high for entrance that there is usually only 1 or 2 free seats when I enter. One leaves, one enters process. Given the current lounge experience, I'm surprised we don't see more ultra-lounges (or whatever they would be called) that require 1st class tickets or platinum status.
  9. Maybe that’s the distance the taser will work. If they’re unsure of the distance, fire off the taser and the results inform them of the distance.
  10. you can attempt to teach parents how to call via voice on the mobile. Siri call 911, or Siri call my lazy son.
  11. Guarantee that the LA police will see you at 40 feet and as they walk towards you, you're now in violation of the law. It's the citizens responsibility to remain greater than 25 feet away irrespective of the police's behavior. This all may vary depending on the citizen's race.
  12. Getting a bit concerned that we are headed for a correction. I’m not going to sell on a major down day but it might be time to get heavier on cash. My mindset: the people who own the pork belly contracts are saying, "Hey, we're losing all our damn money, and Christmas is around the corner, and I ain't gonna have no money to buy my son the G.I. Joe with the kung-fu grip! And my wife ain't gonna f... my wife ain't gonna make love to me if I got no money!" So they're panicking right now, they're screaming "SELL! SELL!" to get out before the price keeps dropping. They're panicking out there right now, I can feel it.
  13. To each their own. I want the vacation to start when I arrive at the departing airport not the arrival airport. Does that mean that I still haven’t sat in the back or even potentially fly spirit? No that still happens especially with last second trips. i also know people that stay at cheap hotels because they state that they only are there to sleep so why overspend for the time their eyes are closed. That’s cool. For them.
  14. Even though Cook and Johnson effectively tied, only a few voting precincts mirrored the larger tie. Most likely if someone voted for cook they are heights, central Houston or med center. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/politics/houston/article/neighborhood-voted-harris-county-runoff-election-19484273.php
  15. I literally lol-ed with that story. From having a parent in assisted living, I can appreciate that story. I can only imagine the reaction from the care staff when they saw EMS roll up and discover the reason.
  16. Voted for Molly Cook against Jarvis Johnson for state senator in Houston. Looks to be very close and my vote may have counted more than any point in my voting history. 74 vote difference right now. Honesty I'm not entirely sure Cook is better than Johnson but she is an outsider who gets things done. I also think that the abortion laws in Texas go against the majority so it's important to have more women in Austin especially one who openly mentions her own experience. As a guy I have my thoughts and opinions about abortion but believe that women's' opinions mean much more than mine. From what I could tell the Chronicle mainly endorsed Johnson because they said he had experience. That's weak and perhaps pandering from the Chronicle.
  17. Haley writing "Finish Them" on missiles to be fired on Hamas and Palestinians. I've always thought that writing messages on bombs to be immature and sadistic if a politician or military leader does it. I get that Nikki sees this as showing how tough she is or can be, but a leader should always consider military action as the final resort when all other options has failed. They should strongly dislike military actions. As usual she shows herself as a POS, but I bet she walked away proud thinking that she accomplished something. A private citizen, without skin in the game, writing a missile message is sad IMO. A decent person would have declined the offer. Regardless some on the right will eat this up and think this shows how tough she could be.
  18. I would sell it off it was made illegal and that point it could be worth 10% of todays price. If not lower.
  19. My only fear on crypto legislation is if we have a major terrorist attack, and it's found that it was funded with crypto. Meaning that the terrorists used crypto to get around normal banking/KYC rules. And honesty if there is a terrorist attack, it would seem reasonable that crypto would be involved to some extent. I imagine that some of our govt agencies pay their shady, foreign contacts in crypto. It would have to work in the opposite direction as well. Personally I don't care about crypto that required KYC. And I could see a new blockchain as a solution providing KYC.
  20. I'm also in the camp of rapidly building my total cash savings. had planned on roughly 3x annual expenses. I flip flop on investing part of it now while I'm working to get better returns but at the moment I'm cool with 4.5% yield with savings. Note: I'm slightly less than halfway with this goal. As for what I'm doing in retirement and required income, I struggle with that question. I hate to say it but I've been a bit too much of a retirement spreadsheet guy focusing on the totals and not what I want to do with it. One large expense that I'm considering are extended vacations around the country as in living in _______ for 2-3 months at a time. Rent furnished places. Align these trips to see certain sports teams/concerts/national parks. Maintain a fulltime home most likely in Texas. This type of lifestyle would obviously wind down as the years go on.
