  1. The Trump Org is so small that Trump, Don Jr. or Eric had to sign off on any payment greater than $10K? And he was still signing the checks during his Presidency? Talk about not trusting Eric or Don Jr. Not that I actually blame Trump for the last part.
  2. If someone continually violates a judge's order and doesn't seem to care about fines, I don't see how you don't make them cool their heels in confinement for a certain point. Maybe you don't start with a weekend in Riker's but a couple of hours in a courtroom jail, or whatever option the judge has readily avaiable. As far as today's testimony, it sounds like they have Weisselberg ordering the Cohen payments of their accounting/AP team. Presumably Trump must have ok'ed it, if not ordered it from Weisselberg. Has he testified yet, or is he refusing. Weisselberg creates a conundrum for the prosecution. He's continually lies under oath but in the defense of Trump. I assume that he will have to be given immunity to compel his testimony, if they're calling him at all.
  3. A new car’s horn should have a written warning, “pressing the horn increases the chance you will die today”
  4. unfortunately we have to assume that any and everyone is armed in Texas. We all want to be the good guy to help diffuse a situation but you need to be careful. Also why is McDonalds arguing about a refund. I could understand they don't want a scenario where someone eats 99% of their meal and asks for their money back ala Fast Times, but is any incident worth the $10?
  5. Guarantee that his parents are pissed at him. Not for pretending to be a monkey but pretending to be a monkey with cameras around.
  6. Freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences. If you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
  7. The current rain band in Houston is being continually refreshed with new rain staring around Columbus. It does look to be sparing areas north of Houston which is good for them in their recovery.
  8. Outside of learning more about their tech, what exactly do you earn in $/mo in running a node? I’m reading online about people estimating $1/mo assuming an average PC/GPU.
  9. This was the exact scene I was thinking of when I wrote that comment.
  10. In fairness, it looks to be raining. If I was participating, I would ask if we could reconvene on Monday.
  11. Sir Patrick - can you sign my 2011 Derek Jeter baseball card?
  12. Can't believe that the head of the RNC is selling towels and pillows in order to raise money. I imagine that this is the best fundraising idea that Lara can come up.
  13. Sounds like Parker is floating her name out there just in case Hidalgo receives a Biden Admin appointment. Parker would want everyone to immediately turn to her in that scenario since there is a rumor she's interested. This PR stunt costs her nothing other than perhaps potential embarrassment if it falls flat in Dem circles.
  14. I don't follow how Lakes Conroe or Livingston are managed but it seemed like both caused downstream flooding relatively quickly with this storm. Don't they normally start releasing water in advance of storms that are expected to dump heavy rain in the area?
  15. Crazy that no one checked on her for a day.
  16. The Buffs went 1-8 in conference the year before Deion and then he repeated that pathetic record. Deion has excuses why he couldn't win in the Pac12 but I'm sure the previous coach had his excuses as well. This season will be about positioning Shedeur for the Heisman/high draft pick. Winning will be secondary and I hope Buff fans are ok with that.
  17. When my mom was in assisted living, she would have her Assist Pendant next to her in bed. When she would walk to the bathroom or wherever, she would leave the pendant in her bed. head slap. it had a loop so you could wear it around your neck but she didn't like doing that.
  18. Doesn't an Apple Watch have fall detection and call someone? Or maybe call 911 for you. Of course, the wearer has to be with it enough to recharge the watch and actually wear it.
  19. Tesla is recoverable but it doesn’t appear that Elon is taking 1 step to do so. He refuses to acknowledge that his actions are the reason for the downfall. A few years ago I had decided that my next vehicle would be a Tesla. Now there is a zero chance that I would buy one. I don’t trust that Elon doesn’t have the ability to remotely kill any Tesla just because he gets mad at 3am. And I don’t mean kill my hypothetical Tesla but all teslas.
  20. ridiculous giving blanket immunity for anyone protesting. It should be a case by case basis. Even if you’re free to do something, like protest, it doesn’t mean that you’re free of consequences. And if the protestors are not willing to face and accept disciplinary actions, I question their conviction on this issue anyway.
  21. That's a real deep take. I'm sure your 10 second clips from an unknown social media user have educated you on the media.
  22. I was thinking about Abbott and his governing style. At one point, I do think that Abbott had the ability to search for some consensus and/or find nuanced solutions. However he's completely pivoted to hammering home whatever his extreme supporters want. They don't want (new) Mexicans in the state, he sends state military to the border. They want vouchers, he's actively purging the GOP of non-voucher supporting politicians. UT has people/students protesting Israel, send in the riot police. Perhaps his governing policy was like this earlier than I imagine, but Jade Helm 15 really sent him over the deep end. Whether Abbott believed in the conspiracy theories or not, he then realized the benefits of pandering to the far right. IF Abbott decided to find a softer touch or look for consensus before acting, I have to assume that his base would turn against him for being weak. He's now set a course and cannot pivot for any issue.
  23. Since the UK election has to happen by next January, I would think the Tories don’t want to even remotely get wrapped up in anything related to Trump in terms of both being conservatives. At least on paper. The Tories may be resigned to knowing they will lose the majority but hope to keep some close races.
