  1. On TikTok I watched a legitimate review of the Trump Bible from someone who said they were an expert. First off she was perplexed at the lack of a page that provides information such as where the Bible was printed. She assumed the lack of a page meant that Trump's team didn't want to highlight that it was most likely printed in China. Second, the expert said that the leather and page quality was on par with a sub-$15 Wal-Mart Bible and not one costing $50+.
  2. I don't have any idea of the politics of most major CEOs. They're smart enough to stay neutral publicly and usually indicate that they are open to working with any Administration in the WH. The right message is that the company should want anything that is good for America and to stay away from social issues or partisan issues.
  3. Believe you're exaggerating somewhat. Dems have only been out of power for a few decades and it took them a first 10-15 years to acknowledge a problem. I'm unsure if there even is a state Democrat party at the moment. GWB and Rick Perry were standard Republicans who may have turned Texas right, but they stayed away from the direction that we're now seeing with Abbott, Goeb and Paxton. GWB and Perry were somewhat aligned with an average Texas republican. The new crew are all MAGA level crazy and that isn't aligned with the average Texan. The average Texan is just slow to react. Obviously it's was premature for some to think that Texas would flip blue in 2016-22. I agree that '24 is not there yet and may even regress some from '20 due to the Biden dementia myth.
  4. my uneducated opinion. their base models needed to keep getting cheaper. Make it so it was a dumb financial decision to not buy a Tesla. If a Model 3 could compete with a Honda Civic in price, the game would be over. the truck is beyond stupid and should have never been made. I can't imagine anyone buying it except for those wanting it for their social media content. And those influencers are a mix of Elon fan bois and people who want to hate on the truck. Elon has destroyed the brand. Previously a liberal would overpay for a Tesla because they wanted to be seen as green. Now buying a Tesla is unthinkable for someone who is on the left and somewhat politically active. Sucks for Austin that a falling company is hq'ed there and isn't the truck made there. I have to guess that Austin will experience much of the layoffs.
  5. Can you imagine the daily calls between Trump, Devin Nunes (Truth Social CEO) and the Truth's CFO/Investor lead? You know Trump is screaming at them in regards that he's unable to sell his shares and their stupid rules are costing him hundreds of millions. "I had $6B in value a few weeks ago, and now it's worth ______. F you! Fix this!" Of course, their reaction is to issue more shares to the insiders, most likely without a lockup, screwing over the other shareholders like ol' Jerry at Oklahoma Four Seasons tree trimming. From a CNBC article: There is little chance that Truth social and its DJT stock doesn't end in a massive SEC investigation. Unless Trump gets elected.
  6. This morning Truth Social (DJT) filed to issue millions of new shares to stakeholders. Presumably to insiders like Trump. Market responded by dropping DJT by 15% in pre-market trading. I bet their board will soon announce that Trump will be allowed to sell shares before the lockup (shares lockup not his personal lockup) ends. They will say it's due to Biden and his SEC punishing DJT and this is the only fair method for Trump to get his money back. Sounds like a great day for Jerry to double down on buying more. copy from above. Perhaps take out a cash advance from his credit card.
  7. I don’t see Texas flipping blue this year but we will continue the slow drip towards a blue Texas. It’s not about population shifts or Covid deaths. The drip is from the laws passed in Austin. Take school vouchers. This will kill many small schools. And while it’s actually not a red vs blue issue, the GOP and Abbott are making it a litmus test to be elected as a Republican. Small counties will remain (bright) red, even they should see a move to the left. Perhaps even with some voters just staying home. at some point in the next 10 years Texas will explode as a blue state. Abbott is seeing to it.
  8. While there are limited data points, Texas only went for Trump in ‘20 by 5.5 points. It was ~16 for Romney over Obama.
  9. Played v1 of fallout back in the 90s but recall very little. It’s hard not to compare this show to Silo on Apple TV. While I thought Fallout was more entertaining, Silo produced more of a mystery that kept me wanting more. Silo however is not as ambitious, or at least S1 of Silo.
  10. The more the Texas gop moves right, the sooner we go blue. Unfortunately they will employ cruelty to people and laughingly kick the vulnerable while we wait.
  11. Damn. A Middle East war is starting just when I lost access to CNN. Why didn’t someone ask me in advance?
  12. Moving someone down is effectively moving someone else up. It doesn't mean that he's taking money from the patients moving up, but rather he thinks they are better candidates. I'm sure that doctors can believe they are smarter than the predetermined rules (and they may be right) but its dangerous to act on that belief.
  13. Interesting article about the oil industry using fracking techniques as a method to generate electricity via geothermal process. I wonder how this plays out for mineral rights. I would have to think that mineral right holders would be left in the cold. I don't think they own the underground heat but I also wouldn't be surprised if they somehow already carved out laws that would still allow them to benefit.
  14. I see weird ads for Temu on mainstream sites like ESPN. The weirdness of it probably say more about me and my browsing history than them.
  15. That is a wild story. Winfrey now will get the visa he wanted, except it will be for Huntsville-only and then he will get deported to wherever he is from.
  16. SJL is horrible and an ineffective legislator. Perhaps she helps out her district from behind the scenes but I doubt that is possible because she would be bragging about that on TV. Where she appears to succeed is with her personal relationships. It's how she can get the Clintons or Pelosi to campaign for her, sometimes even in person.
  17. I don't have a medical background so I'm unsure if I'm interpreting this correctly. Is it saying that a single PSA blood screening test doesn't change the mortality rate? If so, I thought the PSA screening main value was identifying drastic changes in relation to previous years' numbers.
  18. Rumors are that Trump’s legal strategy will be to fire his attorneys before the start of the trial next week in hopes of creating yet another delay. Most likely his attorneys are behind it. Hopefully the judge calls bs and doesn’t allow another delay. Of course, if the judge rejects this move, those attorneys will request an opportunity to appeal that ruling.
  19. The main risk that RFK poses for Biden is if RFK only focuses on the states where Biden has a small lead. Then he could look to find a way to steal votes from Biden by being the "none of the above" candidate. EDIT: You know there are a certain percent of voters who will take the unknown over the known. For example, look at the For-Brexit voters who were in shock when Brexit was selected by the voters. For some of them, it seemed like they only wanted to express their opinion against the status quo. They really didn't want Brexit to happen. I'm basically describing idiots. And it's always important to remember that half of Americans are below the median intelligence.
  20. I've seen it described more like short-term twilight not overcast, in terms of light.
  21. I was going to eclipse chase today. Live in Houston. Looks like too much of a waste of time for little chance of a view. I’m out. hope it works out for anyone out there.
  22. Hit up a whataburger in Houston recently and it didn’t disappoint me. It was a shitty as the last time I went. The top bun could have been used as a door stop for a heavy door. my own fault for giving them another chance.
