  1. you never know but I don't see him wanting to do that because that somewhat implies he made a mistake. I see it more of Trump saying that Leftists can't take a joke and that he loves Puerto Ricans more than anyone.
  2. Agree. Few Texas politicians like sharing a stage with Cruz. But Cruz obviously has relationships with them since he came from state govt. Greg Abbott appointed him to state solicitor general. I'm always reminded of the Al Franken quote: "I like Ted Cruz more than any of the my [Senate] colleagues, and I hate Ted Cruz."
  3. Fair amount of speculation that Cruz is the weak link in the GOP chain in terms of losing a seat. I could see other senate campaigns sending over money to help him.
  4. You know what's really interesting about Trump's 2024 campaign? Both his team and the RNC seem to have pretty much left down-ballot races hanging. No one really knows how this will play out yet, but it could totally change the playbook for how national campaigns handle these smaller races going forward. From what it looks like, most candidates were stuck fending for themselves or having to lean on their state parties for help. Here's the thing - a lot of the campaign money was getting funneled into Trump's legal defense. Plus, word is that Trump's folks and the RNC (with Lara Trump at the helm now) mostly want to funnel campaign spending through Trump's own properties. Not exactly leaving much in the pot for other candidates, right?
  5. Is eastern Oregon always trying to redraw the state maps so that they're in Idaho? no one is stopping you from moving to Idaho if that is your wish.
  6. Always remember that Hotze was the guy who convinced a private investigator to hold an AC repair guy at gunpoint in 2020 because they thought there were ballots hidden in his repair truck. For some unknown reason, I assume Ogg, the case has not gone to trial yet. Almost 4 years now. https://archive.ph/LnKv0 Hopefully Hotze is someday convicted and has his MD license suspended.
  7. I can't imagine being a middle or high school teacher right now dealing with the male students constantly saying some MAGA comments all day. I'm sure they're giggling while repeating the rally comments about Puerto Rico and Hispanic immigrants not pulling out. I know my own limitations and realize that I wouldn't make it a year without smacking the crap out of some mouthy kid.
  8. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/10/28/jpmorgan-suing-customers-over-infinite-money-glitch.html What's the Surly handle of the person driving a new Lambo back in August?
  9. I've long thought Trump's best chance is creating chaos while simultaneously retaining control of the House. There is a long line of GOP politicians who are happy to lie by saying that they can't certify because of widespread fraud, and that we need to follow the Constitution by allowing the House to vote for President. Each state gets 1 vote. The open question is whether the courts would agree.
  10. Time will tell. Wasn't it roughly ten years before Hitler finally took power after the first failed attempt?
  11. Good summary. This is why you see Kamala and the Dems doing everything possible to get people to the polls. And Trump and the GOP are trying to tell Democrats that the race is over and in some cases (VA) still trying to purge the voter rolls.
  12. Yes but I see this more as Biden demonstrating how even illegal aliens can ultimately offer important contributions to America. And that bar isn't whether they eventually become the world's wealthiest person.
  13. I've put a few Home Depot poison contraptions outside and as far as I can tell my rat problem is gone. Black box with a small opening, poison is inside. I didn't want to kill the squirrels and they didn't seem to be able to get into the traps. I also have not encountered any dead rats or dead rat smells outside.
  14. According to that link, 16% of Democrats approve of Ted. Shows you how much of the electorate is uninformed. I don't understand what criteria some use in these polls. "Uh, I'm alive so I guess my senator is doing a good job."
  15. October: Cruz has 45 (favorable) - 40 (unfavorable) polling in Texas. Republican approval for him is at 76%. UT Link August: Trump is 49 (favor) -48 (unfavor) Republican approval for Trump is at 88%. UT Link I added the month because it would be better to have the results on the same time frame. Also the percentages of both polls, including Unsure, are <>100%. I don't know what that means.
  16. There are many false memories of the Trump years because Trump & team have repeated lies again and again. Take the false memory that Hillary failed to concede. She conceded to Trump very very late on Election Day and then publicly conceded the next morning. And there some who say both Hillary (2016) and Trump (2020) failure to concede are equivalent. Hillary waited maybe 20 minutes for confirmation and Trump is now going on 4 years. I admit that Trump says some things with so much confidence, I have to google them because I fairly sure he's lying but it sounds possible. to be clear, I know he's lying but I want to know the facts.
  17. Since I don't see Trump losing Texas, I hope there are a few hundred thousand voters like your wife.
  18. I want to hope that Cruz is in trouble but we always run into a blue mirage that disappears as you get closer to it. More so-called mainstream Republicans (Abbott, Cornyn) always seem to out perform their polls but this will be the first and only time Cruz and Trump are both on the ballot together. While Texas is red, even many Republicans dislike both. Yes, people do vote while holding their nose but some just don't vote. From a Texas perspective this is the perfect storm for a blue flip. Or the most perfect storm that a Texas Democrat can hope occurs. Anyway this is what I tell myself. I don't believe it though.
  19. I hear you. I go back and forth with a later conversion strategy or just annually pushing 40k into my Roth 401k now. My take home is obviously smaller now but this is after a career of only having pretax 401k.
  20. Yes but the vast majority of yesterdays attendees were from Staten Island, NJ and LI.
  21. It may not be the best now decision but I’ve decided to go 100% Roth 401k for my few remaining work years. I want to have that as a bucket to pull from in retirement when it’s the right tax decision then.
  22. If you run across any maga who says that Sundays comments were from a comedian and people need a sense of humor. Remind them it wasn’t a comedy show. It was a rally for a man who wants to run the most powerful country. its also a good refresher as well in terms of those defending Trump on talk about grabbing women. Defenders called it locker room talk except it wasn’t a locker room. He was at work promoting his tv show.
  23. As posted earlier, Rick Scott was quick to condemn the PR joke. Made me wonder just how many Puerto Ricans live in FL when honesty the focus is usually on Cubans in FL. according Wikipedia: Cubans: 1.55m Puerto Ricans: 1.24m I can see why Rick Scott would be worried and mad. also after NY and FL, the next biggest stateside PR populations are in NJ and PA. Both with about 460k.
  24. The media always takes trumps bait. Instead of focusing on his insults or threats that his crowd loves, focus on the disastrous impact of his economic policies.
  25. Wouldn’t shock me if you ask maga what should we do with the Puerto Ricans in the mainland, a majority will say we need to deport them.
