  1. Gonna be tough to prove a national emergency, seeing as it wasn't a national emergency until 12/22/2018. Of course, it'll go through the courts, and it'll probably be allowed just like Roosevelt's Japanese-American internment orders that also weren't a national emergency.
  2. Please give Goeb all your vitriol in our legislature thread, https://www.surlyhorns.com/board/index.php?/topic/4992-86th-texas-legislative-session-010819-052719-thread-of-fail/ I gladly welcome any discussion of what's going on in Austin as it's also fairly important but currently kinda quiet.
  3. Good for them. Working and not receiving paychecks on time, yeah, I'd be a little bitchy, too. If ATC at ATL does this in a week - it'll get some people talking.
  4. It's quite amazing, one of my wife's favorite drinks. Sneaky way to hide the rum.
  5. That brisket from Blood Bros looks great. Good looking crust and moist.
  6. Is the whole damn family employed by the white house? Who gives a flying fuck what the girl married to the retarded son of the pumpkin says? Oh, and that's bad optics Lara. Very bad.
  7. I would have thought Indy would have said something after the test earlier this year if the track was an issue. And we'll certainly here something after everyone tests on 2/12 at Cota. Maybe it's the latter.
  8. I'll only answer the first part. Having the concert at the ampitheater has got to be a better venue that that muddy hill. I really enjoy concerts at the ampitheater (I think they need more shitters for chicks as that line for the wife sometimes gets pretty long - and I still have my standard complaint about the crackheads running parking and entry).
  9. I just can't believe that over 41,000 members of the United States Armed Forces have gone 5 weeks without being paid. That's some sort of bullshit. Edit: The more I think about it, the more irritated I get. The trumpers will throw out that they should have saved a rainy day fund, they took the job knowing that our government is functionally retarded and they could go without pay. And they'll also throw out the tired line about go ahead and quit and get a 'real job' (read: any public sector job to them is not real - depending on if they support the blue line today or not) but.. I think if a Coastie quits, they can like end up in jail and stuff for going AWOL. So talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place.
  10. Yeah. It's a mistake to say that they are going out on time, when you are depending on people who are not currently receiving a paycheck to perform work. You can bet I'd probably be a little slow doing my work if I was there, but not getting my paycheck at the expected time.
  11. Yeah, George at Gruene would be awesome. Obviously it's an undersized venue for him now. The only time in recent memory that he played there was a very private affair put on by Wrangler that they streamed online in 2016. For bonus points, I'd love to see him at Cheatham Street where he got his start.
  12. Shoulda socked away a rainy day fund, it's their own damn fault they live paycheck to paycheck. /conservatives
  13. While lookup up Seliger's bills, came across this: Agriculture (Chair) 1/18/2019 - 1/22/2019 Womp womp.
  14. Huh...using John Brotherton's name on the menu seems like an odd choice. I'm sure there's some kind of back story here and you know a lot more about all this shit than me, but that's certainly not the one name I'd choose to be associated with. Btw, that thing looks fucking good.
  15. I think we figured out who the breakaway Republican is... Seliger. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick pulls Sen. Kel Seliger’s chairmanship after Seliger suggested Patrick aide kiss his “back end” Seliger lost his chair of HIgher Education, and actually isn't on the committee at all anymore, but was made the chair of some new agriculture committee, which obviously isn't near as important. Based on telling Goeb's senior advisor to kiss his ass.. he isn't chair of the new committee either. Without Seliger's vote, and I'm pretty sure he isn't going to get it easily, they have to play nice with the Democrats to get any bills passed. <Insert Nelson Hah Hah.gif> Edit, and as I said earlier: This actually could hurt Goeb some. He'll spin it as the Democrats not wanting to go along with his plans blah blah, but yeah, he's gonna have a much tougher time getting bullshit through the Senate this session. Poor Danny. Wish I could go spit on your office again.
  16. Well then that's crazy. Because McTurtle said he was waiting on the Democrats to negotiate, and here he is taking a vote on the House bill? Seems like maybe he was lying, but what do I know.
  17. That's what I look for in Air Traffic Controllers. My job, I can fuck off and whatever, shit gets done the next day. ATC, yeah, that could be fun saying fuck it at work. This could end well.
