Who’s having a Superb Owl party next year? emoji23.pngemoji23.png

I wonder if it will let us touch its little beak.

Colin Robinson is the best character on tv.  "I like to see what they come up with for the clydesdales every year."

I love the way they hiss every time there is a bible or cross.

Now that she's gone, it seems like the time to ask something that's been bugging me all season.  Is Sophie attractive?  Cute?  Pretty sure she isn't a smoke show, but I really can't tell if she's at least cute.

Something's a little off but still attractive.

  3. Remember how Manfred's justification for suspending Luhnow and Hinch was that his 2017 warning to all teams said that GMs and managers would be held responsible for what their organizations did, even if they weren't personally involved.

That 2017 warning came after the Red Sox apple watch incident.  But now the very same Red Sox were found to have committed violations in 2018 but the GM and manager won't punished because they didn't know about the rules violations.  So that's cool.

The Senate race didn't have an exceptionally strong Democratic candidate vs a Republican loathed by many within his own party? If Beto is admissible, so is Abbott. Those two races show you the range of possible outcomes. D +2 to R +11 (I said nine earlier - got the numbers backwards).

Wilco was comfortably R in most of the downballot statewide races, which are the best measures of pure partisanship. Credit where it's due for not voting for Ken Paxton. It's still a Republican leaning county though.

Trump absolutely falls within the "loathed by many" category. Biden is not an exceptional candidate. Maybe hatred for Trump will be enough, but again, 10 points in one election cycle is a lot of ground to cover.

Exactly.  Last time both candidates were loathed by many.  Trump still is.  And even in 2016, Trump wasn't popular among Texas Rs.  Texas is not Alabama.  He ran 1 to 4 points behind the R in the RR commission and all 6 statewide judicial elections.

You are assuming the republicans will whitewash trump. To my viewpoint, they have done the opposite. They have gone all in on trumplicanism.

Will they change? Maybe. But that is not a safe assumption.

They will be forced to change when 2020 isn't even close.

  5. Channel 2 just ran a story about the $60 million spent for the tent hospital to sit empty in the Astrodome parking lot.  It's easy to take shots at that now but I haven't studied the hospitalization data enough to know what to think.  I don't think Houston ever got all that close to capacity but I also don't know what the lag time would have been to get the tents up and running if things took a turn for the worse.

Call me crazy, call me naive -- wouldn't it have been better to address aging infrastructure concerns when the economy was roaring, as opposed to in the middle of a depression?

Ever hear of the CCC?  WPA?

  7. The 2nd episode was good.  Villanelle's new apartment in Barcelona was gorgeous.  It was good to see Villanelle back to doing what she loves, frightening children and killing people.  I thought her protege had potential but I guess not.
