  1. Somebody has to keep up with Brisket and the ledge slash wheelhouse.
  2. Well I guess I'm just wearing the wrong hat. Are my patents and sales irrelevant?
  3. LOL Joe is my hero. Smartest guy I've ever met. He pushed me way farther than I knew I could go, I learned half of what I know from him. Yeah, he can be a dick.

    Burgers

Busty's is just on the better edge of dive. Not even close to gross. Cool place, good people.
  5. Sounds like every arrogant engineering professor. I have worked as an engineer all my life. Most engineers are technicians -- they turn wrenches and draw shit. The ability to handle being wrong is anathema to them. Being wrong is part of innovation. I work with people who say "what if" as opposed to "this is". THAT'S where technology thrives, and it doesn't take a BS/MS/PhD in "Engineering" to get there. It just takes humility.

    Burgers

To contribute: my daughter and I met up at Busty's on Cameron, and that burger was pretty good
  7. Well there's a blast from the past . . .
  8. I could buy a nicer body than I could sell this weirdo for. At that point I'm even on the frankenstrat.
  9. Update on cheap Squier Strat: it doesn't sound great, kinda thin. There's no point in keeping the body ($120) and building out a frankenstrat. I think this is going to go on the "give it to a nephew" list.
  10. Weird headstock -- who made it?
  11. Natch.
  12. More to the point, have you seen this Vanderbilt?

    Burgers

Gonna put this here, but it goes beyond burgers: what's your go-to at Top Notch? I'm taking my sis and nephew, and I always default to the cheeseburger. I'm not sure I've ever had the fried chicken, chicken sammich, etc. What say you, surly?
  14. Wind TURBINES.
  15. I don't think I've ever seen him attack a solo like that. It was like a musical boxing match. He's so effortlessly skilled on guitar but that day he was hanging on for dear life.
  16. One of my all time faves, even though he's an Aggie. He sets such a high bar for songwriters. I saw him last year at the ACL 50th taping and he was a little creaky in the vocal department, but still enjoyable. That band just flat out smokes, year after year. I've had the pleasure of messaging back and forth with Sklar over the years, and he is clearly very proud to play in the Large Band. Given his long and storied track record, that's saying something.
  17. I'm going with "rehab".
  18. I definitely get it.
  19. The shutdown is most likely all about the Epstein files. If they jump start the government, they have to swear in Adelita Grijalva, and she would represent the 218th vote that could lead to the release of the files.
  20. He even has a degree in Econ from UPenn. It's astonishing.
  21. "I trusted you. Why?" Well Ollie, that's the $64,000 question.
  22. Thomas Jefferson would be proud. For fuck's sake.
  23. I'll get to plug in at rehearsal tonight. Neck seems OK, a little shallow for my stupid chimpanzee palms.

    Tex Mex

My favorite? Enchiladas Y Mas by a good margin. Maudie's works in a pinch. It's been a while since I've eaten at El Dorado, but Joel knows what he's doing. Oh, and I haven't been to Mama Betty's, but wife gave it a solid C. She wasn't super impressed.
