  1. Yeah, I'm quite confident Trump just made it up. The irony is that he COULD factually say that gasoline reached a national average of $5.03/gal during the Biden administration, but now that average is down to $3.28/gal. Of course, this would ignore the fact that the price has climbed from $3.20/gal since Trump took office, but let's not worry about minor details.
  2. Yes, unlike A&M and 'bama (hmmm what's common there?) we do not claim nearly a half dozen other "national championships".
  3. Uhhh . . .
  4. Penn has many less than brilliant graduates.
  5. I really think Marmol is starting to get this thing on track.
  6. That 6-pack of Great Dane puppies is the best thing I've seen this week. How would you choose?
  7. An allegedly grown man is calling someone else "dookiesnob". Alrighty.
  8. Hey, there's more than one way to skin a cat.
  9. It's more about the depth of interaction than it is the proximity. I can have a heated argument with dozens of you assholes but it is founded in actual perspective on both/all sides and the debate is real. The average social media interaction is little more than "go bro" or "you suck", and combined with a lack of face-to-face time those people become islands who are incredibly easy to persuade and who are immune to logical counterpoint.
  10. The beauty of that show is that Jeff's ego goes for an hour -- "let me explain this to you" -- and then Ed sucks Jeffcock for another hour.
  11. Hey, leave me out of it.

    Ozzy has passed.

Not gonna lie, Sabbath was never super high on my radar, but damn if "War Pigs" isn't a top 5 rock song of all time. RIP, Mr. Osbourne.
  13. Some kind of minivan. Still, that's a whole lotta mammals. (I call band name.)
  14. Tomato, tomato.
  15. You know, I could have sworn SCOTUS ruled that Presidents have immunity.
  16. Our youngest (son, age 21) is on a road trip to South Dakota with his girlfriend, her parents, her two brothers and his dog + their dog. One vehicle. This family is not your average American WASP collective, they're Filipino and their norms are . . . different. Like, they drive at night, as in they left Austin for Amarillo at 9 PM. Lather, rinse, repeat. I'm overly terrified they're gonna get in a horrible accident. I know that's just me being a dad, but jesus, get a hotel room or three. I'll pay.
  17. Those things are about as genuine as SNL. It's just clickbait.
  18. I first saw him in the fall of '82 at the Erwin Center. A friend had 7th row floor tix and his girlfriend had to back out. He knew I was a music geek so he asked if I wanted to go. My experience was almost identical to what you said -- I was very apathetic and then the concert was just hit after hit after hit. I didn't own any of his albums so while I knew the songs I just really hadn't added it all up. I ended up seeing him several more times over the years.
  19. . . . and yet it includes what might be his best song ("New York State of Mind").

    Those are terrible.

    Rush

Tom Morello needs to hire a singer.
  22. "Jazz" is the correct and accepted descriptor of a musical style born in America. "Indian" is, in the context of indigenous peoples of the North American continent, one of Christopher Columbus' top 3 fuckups. Kinda different.
  23. You don't need to be offended by it. It's just wholly inaccurate in any historical context.
  24. Yup. I've mentioned it before, but our youngest has no business being at UT. None. I mean, top 40% at his HS kind of guy. Super immature (at the time). The thing was, he played club soccer at a very high level and wrote his essay about how he had to learn to interact with kids on his team who only spoke Spanish, and how it helped his leadership skills. It was a pretty poorly written essay but it was definitely from the heart. I corrected a few grammar mistakes the night before it was due but I thought "no way". And then he was CAPed. And he kicked ass at UT-Tyler. And here we are. There are many paths. If one avails itself to your kid, they might be advised to take it.
