  1. I didn't have that luxury, my daughter had the 12:15 slot in the Tito's tent. Kinda couldn't miss that.
  2. I think you need to do some minor repair on your link.
  3. Norah Jones was good, not great, at last night's ACL taping. The sound in the room was off -- her vocals came across as thin, as did the bass. I assume they'll fix that in the mix when the show is broadcast. She did a lot of her early hits, but mostly recast them into a different vibe, which was cool. I don't need to hear the radio mix of "Come Away With Me", etc. The band didn't feel like they were completely gelling, which was surprising, it was the first time I've ever seen Brian Blade (drums) live, and he definitely has a unique, loping groove that doesn't rely on traditional styles. Hey, who am I to argue with one of the greatest drummers on the planet? Her backing singer was great, absolutely pitch perfect, and funny to boot. Norah played a pretty mean guitar on several songs, but of course her piano chops are unassailable. Her vocals were also dead on. In short, she remains a massive talent, cool as hell, funny and unpretentious. I'm glad I finally got to see her. Next up, Soul Asylum. That one might be a bit different.
  4. You need to repost the photo of you wearing the "Jeter sucks" t-shirt while running the Boston Marathon.
  5. Let's be very clear about Trump's economy: he promised to wipe out the national debt in 8 years. In the first 3 years of his administration, the debt ROSE by ~ $5T, which had nothing to do with the covid pandemic. Color me skeptical that he was going to turn around a debt 25% higher than what he inherited in the next 5 years. I don't know why Democrats cannot message this better.
  6. Well, you never wear your OWN band's t-shirt. Beyond that, there is a statute of limitations that kicks in if you're on stage and the band t-shirt in question is (a) iconic and (b) at least 15 years old, with bonus points for (c) simultaneously iconic and obscure. For instance, you can wear a Naked Raygun or Corrosion of Conformity t-shirt these days, no problem. If you wear a Styx t-shirt, you better have a ton of talent or swagger or both.
  7. Dammit, how did I not know how B7 could be voiced that way? I'm so remedial.
  8. I'd go Rega or Pro-Ject for a basic turntable. Don't overthink this.
  9. Sorry, inches. My wife says I always get that wrong.
  10. Answering my own question -- looks like max storm surge was ~ 5.5 ft, so far less than expected. The rainfall totals are insane, though, including over 18 inches in St. Petersburg.
  11. Any credible reports of actual storm surge? It feels like maybe it wasn't as bad as expected, which would be a tiny shred of good news.
  12. Not really. Just because the first group of 10 is bundled as "The BIll of Rights" doesn't mean 11-27 are somehow less important.
  13. So why didn't the first "Carrington Event" send us back to the Stone Age?
  14. I could see about half the screen from the left rail. I ended up just getting a beer with my daughter and listening on my phone.
  15. I could have sworn I heard that The Sword split years ago, but I keep seeing them on bills. Is this a temporary thing or are they full-time again?
  16. Whatever you do, don't count on watching the game in the beer tent at ACL. I tried last year -- total zoo. No viewing angles if you hadn't been there camping out for a good while.
  17. No idea. They claimed the AquaFence was good for a 15 foot storm surge, so it would be a tactical blunder of biblical proportions if they only protected gainst a 5 foot surge. I'm gonna assume they got the basics right.
  18. She started out way behind, because Biden. She may or may not win, but that may have nothing to do with her "strategy" or some sort of strategic shortcomings.
  19. That all depends on how far above sea level the bottom of the fence is.
