  1. So they're playing Brooks Robinson at 3rd, and we . . . well . . .

    Damn, that song rocks.
  3. So when do we start, regardless of the softyball game?
  4. I spent a lot of time in Cleveland with my starter wife, as she was from there. The R&R HOF is absolutely a must see. As far as food goes, if you like Polish/German/Eastern European food, they have it in spades. They have some other stuff, as all major cities do, but it's not exactly a tourist destination.
  5. 1. I seriously doubt Sark's marital status had anything to do with who he went with as starting QB 2. Quinn had yet to get us "near the top of the mountain" the second time when this decision was being made
  6. Don't go?
  7. We could probably land Mike Earley.

I don't know about "Brit pop", but Britt has an encyclopedic knowledge of classic rock, and seems especially fond of The Kinks, among others, including the usuals (The Stones, The Beatles, etc.).

The only exception I would add, which is picking nits, was that they did do an Austin City Limits taping on that album. I managed to wrangle tickets, and I'm glad I did, the band was great.
  10. Would you think it fair to say that a HS player who is not a 4+ star recruit doesn't stand much chance of getting drafted? Not that such a ranking means they DO have a good chance, but (without being a recruitnik) it seems like it establishes a pretty decent bar.
  11. According to a Jan 2025 article in the Austin American-Statesman, football generated $205M in revenue with $66M of expenses during FY2024.
  12. I was there too. I remember Vince twisting his ankle and it looked Gumby-esque. He ended up running for something like 75 yards.
  13. Nice allusion. Counterpoint (but in the pros): Troy Aikman went 1-15 in his first season with the Cowboys. Not that I disagree that Sark might have been loathe to throw Arch out there, I think that's a big part of his decision, whether Arch was ready or not.
  14. Even if he DID only have one stellar (award-winning) season, why is that bad? Many great NFL players got better year by year in college. It's kinda common.
  15. I don't remember how it worked out, but last night I thought to myself "that shadow line will probably cross the rubber right about when we finish hitting in the top of the inning".
  16. Tragic death in a housefire. A terrific songwriter, quirky, kind of in a Cyndi Lauper meets Shawn Colvin mold. Her hit "I Kissed A Girl" predated Katy Perry's crappy song by over a decade.
  17. This is good experience for him.
  18. We look like we're hung over from the plane ride. Tangentially, dumb jock announcers have no idea what "the law of averages" means.
  19. F'n meteorologists.
  20. and yet he's doing a lot better than Ruger.
  21. My office is right behind KEYE. I enjoy the random encounter with Chikage.
