  1. Damn. I totally whiffed on Petty. "Breakdown" is a great call, as would be "Refugee" or "American Girl".
  2. I ruled out The Who almost immediately, I'm very ambivalent about that band. I considered "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd but dropped it in favor of Rush "Tom Sawyer". It's a pretty difficult exercise, sort of like the interminable "name the top 10 pro basketball players" arguments.
  3. Yesterday's high temperature at Camp Mabry: 77 F Average high temperature for 12/23: 61 F For pity's sake. Merry Christmas.
  4. Interesting title for that youtube video. One guy was duking it out, one guy was getting pummeled.
  5. He's nowhere near that heavy (yet), and he probably won't get to 225 lb, but Baby Rhino has some of that game in him.
  6. That makes some sense. I was parsing incorrectly.
  7. At 2222? Or Anderson Mill Road? I need to make another run and was planning on heading out to the former.
  8. Wait, somebody said that in all honesty?
  9. No way I would ever put Major or Simms above Colt, and probably not above Layne or Street.
  10. I'm not enough of a Beatles fan to rank the latter two. JBG? Yeah, it's up there. Probably "Hound Dog" (either Elvis or Big Mama Thornton), too. I thought about GnR "Welcome To The Jungle", just couldn't find the spot. "Fortunate Son" is a great call, such an important song.
  11. Not a new topic, but it deserves a reboot. I was asked by a family member to list my top 10 rock'n'roll songs of all time. They want to build a playlist and wondered where to start. No pop, no soul, no country, no rap, no blues, no Americana. Obviously, genre boundaries blur, but play along. Tell me your 10. I was saddened to eliminate my favorite band (The Replacements) but whatever. As you can see, I have very mainstream tastes. Argue away. 1. Led Zeppelin "Black Dog" 2. Nirvana "Smells Like Teen Spirit" 3. The Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" 4. The Clash "London Calling" 5. AC/DC "Back In Black" 6. Van Halen "Runnin' With The Devil" 7. Jimi Hendrix "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" 8. Black Sabbath "War Pigs" 9. Heart "Barracuda" 10. Rush "Tom Sawyer"
  12. I don't pay attention to the NFL very much so I really try not to project, but I watched Allar against SMU and he looked like warm ass. He's also not coming out for the draft. Milroe? Seems a wild card. Other running QBs have been selected plenty high. No idea where he lands.
  13. I had to go to Hancock HEB today because they had some stuff that was out of stock at other stores. Holy Moses, what a shitshow. The place is entirely torn up. HEB should have just closed one store at a time, done a complete remodel, and moved on to the next store. Instead, they have multiple stores with shit spread out everywhere, temporary coolers/freezers, and angry customers. Not well done. /grinch
  14. Asshole.
  15. Good news about Williams. I wonder if we'll sit him anyway, even if he's largely healed? lol wut?
  16. I'm not so sure of your detective work there, Lou.
  17. I remember leaving a horrible summer Scout campout outside of Bastrop and swinging way south to get my son and I some Lockhart 'que before heading home to Austin. That's how (relatively) good the 'que was in Lockhart back in the day.
  18. Of those 14 games, 8 are at home, and most of the away games are against the lesser teams in the top 50 to date.
  19. LOL somehow they add up 3 and get 0, and add up 1 and get 0.
  20. The only archives I can find are 2023 and prior. Using today's data, which is obviously (slightly) influenced by the playoff games that have already taken place: Texas minus 9.5 (actually 14, not too bad) Ohio State minus 8 (actually 25, huge miss) Penn State minus 7.6 (actually 28, huge miss) Notre Dame minus 7.6 (actually 10, pretty good) So, eh. He got all the winners, though.
  21. I'm not sure, I'll have to see if he archived past rankings, because they now include those games.
  22. Well, Black's is no Ruby's. (That's a "b".)
  23. I definitely agree with you. For whatever it's worth, Sagarin has this as Texas minus 7.5 on a neutral field.
  24. I outsourced the wine, beer, and desserts. That's about it. It's our kids, their dates, and some of my in-laws. I can't exactly pass the hat. Eh, it will all be good.
