  1. /csb My DCI corps got stopped going into Canada and the border security guys got on our bus and started loudly interrogating random guys in the middle of the night. One dude was fast asleep, awoke in a fog and couldn't really answer their questions or produce his passport for a few minutes. They were actually going to cuff him and haul him off the bus until he got his wits about him. Canada.
  2. Holy shit, dude. That's awful.
  3. I didn't love it, but more because of the lousy engineering and production than the songs. Steve Albini advocated terrible engineering technique, would never act as a sounding board, and there was no Andy Wallace to save said shitty engineering (previously done shittily by Butch Vig). I thought the songs were fine, a step back maybe, but the sound was not good. Nevermind, on the other hand, rocks with great abandon.
  4. So close.
  5. Nobody should ever accuse Jim Edmonds of being intelligent, but he's not wrong here:
  6. I've been thinking about this. Nirvana also could have simply retreated from performing. You know, like The Beatles, a band that released the following albums after their penultimate live performance (San Francisco 08/29/1966) yet before their last live performance (Apple Records 01/30/1969): Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Magical Mystery Tour The Beatles ("The White Album") Yellow Submarine Abbey Road Oh yeah, they released "Let It Be" less than 4 months after that final curtain call. I'm not saying Nirvana were The Beatles (although I consider them the modern version of that band), but I do think Cobain in particular idolized the band and could have easily taken his career cues from them, had he not spiraled out.
  7. Cylinder, @Chad Fuck has notoriously bad taste.
  8. So Musk has already slashed his target for total federal budget cuts, saying now that they have a "good shot" at slashing half of the original $2T target. (Gentle readers will note that the entire discretionary budget is only $1.7T.)
  9. I doubt he thinks this is his last term.
  10. I think this is pretty close to the truth. Now he has a blueprint which includes a third (or unlimited) terms. He is too dumb to plan that out himself.
  11. Beyond that, I will go to my deathbed holding the opinion that the modern Republican base is significantly less intelligent than the modern Democratic base. The Tea Party and its progeny, culminating in Trump, have succeeded in turning a lack of education into a virtue. They don't think they're less intelligent or less schooled, they think they're less indoctrinated, when in fact they ARE less intelligent, less schooled, and MORE indoctrinated. The problem is, they can vote.
  12. Any legit theories on why Trump didn't go scorched earth on these government agencies the first time around?
  13. Nah, he's a man of great faith. \
  14. That's probably the walk back, dragging ass due to overindulgence on delicious BBQ.
  15. Honestly, I wish they wouldn't. It smacks of being groomed for stardom. Maybe I'm wrong. I wish parents would just let their kids feel out different musical avenues along with theater, sports, whatever. Breadth is as important as chops at that age. But, as was said, different strokes. Some kids are super focused, maybe she is too.
  16. Heard this on local Austin sports radio this morning. Bijan was wearing a Nirvana t-shirt while being interviewed remotely by Pat McAfee, and he was asked "are you a big Nirvana fan?" "I am." "Favorite song?" Bijan looks kinda confused. "Oh wait, no no no I just lied" as he pats the t-shirt. "Never mind . . . I just love the shirt." The guy is so solid.
  17. See for instance Mitt Romney on hidden video at a campaign fundraiser in 2012 and how he characterized the Democratic base:
  18. Bradley Nowell would have likely kicked ass for decades.
  19. Well, not QUITE a cover, but sorta. Super cool nonetheless. A little sloppy on the double time; i.e., perfect. Two giants of modern music.
  20. So, jizz?
  21. How did you break both shoulders?
  22. Ah jeez, here we go again.
  23. Three more 90s guys: Layne Staley, Scott Weiland, and Josh Clayton-Felt (School of Fish). Loved that band.
  24. I became very fond of fIREHOSE very quickly. Met Mike Watt at one of their Liberty Lunch gigs -- he could not have been more kind and he most certainlly didn't have any reason to be that way. Good dude.
