  1. Yes, my father had a 40 year career with HAL. Not sure how he did it, just tough and smart enough to escape the chopping block umpteen times best I can tell. Anyways, those service companies don’t wait to make deep cuts.
  2. Another 3500? Or the same ones that had been announced a week or two ago? they had previously announced 3500 furloughs on March 18th. Just curious if there are more. https://www.rigzone.com/news/halliburton_to_furlough_3500_workers_in_houston-19-mar-2020-161430-article/
  3. Did anyone see any reports how that oil CEO meeting with trump went today?
  4. Yea no doubt man. I’ve been reading that they couldn’t even find buyers for 12 mmbbld of physical oil. It’s hard to pump 12 mmbpd when there’s no where to put it, store it, or use it.
  5. Yea man. It’s wild over there right now. Most of my team took off but out of a group of 40 or so expats one company guy and maybe 5 contractors have decided to ride it out on site in KZ. Looks like they may be there 90 days straight or more. They did offer the opportunity to leave to most everyone in my team but we are on the project side. Certain personnel considered very essential especially to ongoing production operations may not have the ability to leave so easily.
  6. Hahaha. Yea I think that was Turkmenistan. My national coworkers were telling me about the face mask ban there last time I was on site. Their president has a long history of being a crazy bastard. Look him up sometime if you get bored.
  7. I’m rotational to Kazakhstan. Finished my 28 day hitch on the 4th March and can’t get back either. Might not be able to until July they’re saying now.
  8. I would check out the water heater drip pan if it’s in the attic. Might be your water heater pressure relief valve popping, if it’s set incorrectly or has a manufacturing defect.
  9. Damn. That’s crazy. Surly assholes reporting oil market moves in real time.
  10. Good for you man. Glad to hear you landed on your feet and in a different industry no less. Probably gonna be reaaallll slim times in O&G coming up.
  11. Yea. Problem with that is how damn cheap crude is per unit volume. Bottled water puts crude to shame. Maybe you should invest in that 😂.
  12. Yea this is looking like it’s gonna be pretty fuckin rough for a while.
  13. I work international rotational for a major, and they haven’t told us to shut down rotator travel yet. I’ve got coworkers from China including Wuhan, Italy, South Korea, and many other countries. The national government has banned entry from the major hotspots and the company has slowly been cracking down on travel from all over, but hasn’t pulled the plug on the USA yet. I’m curious to see how long it takes them to pull the plug on rotator travel, if they do.
  14. Yea he’s a crafty bastard alright. I bet we’re about to see a ton of that action here coming up. He’s got $128B in the bank.
  15. Saw a Bloomberg article that said after the Oxy dividend cut they are paying common shareholders a $98 million dividend quarterly and Warren Buffett $200 million quarterly.
  16. Ugh. FML. I too work for a large lumbering corporation and we’ve initiated the lay-off process. I’m doing my best to hide out a la Fudge nuggets plan above.
  17. Yea. I’m thinking we might see $15/bbl.
  18. If it’s gonna be a chapter 11 you might be able to continue working normally during bankruptcy. I know a guy who was doing that during the Energy XXI bankruptcy proceeding.
  19. Redfish Courtboullion. Nice New Orleans / cajun style dish. You can make it with a whole redfish or fillets. pre heat an oven to 350 and salt and pepper your fish and lay it in a good sized baking dish. Dice up a good amount of onions, bell peppers, celery, tomatoes, and garlic. Sauté it all up a cast iron skillet with plenty of butter or olive oil until it’s all translucent and has the consistency of a thick stew or sauce. Plenty of tomatoes help with the moisture content. Don’t forget salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and any herbs you want - maybe a little basil and oregano, but just a little. You’re not making an Italian dish. Cover the fish in the veggie mixture, trying to get it a half inch thick covering or so. Throw the dish in the oven and cook until the fish is done, maybe 45 minutes to an hour? Depends on whether you got fillets or a whole fish. While the fish is baking make a pot of rice. Server over rice with hot sauce. I love this recipe.
  20. OPEC and russia deal completely fell apart. Anyone want to guess the bottom? This reminds me of Thanksgiving 2014 but I think it could be worse with the big coronavirus demand shock.
  21. Aero press is my favorite single serving method. Easy peasy and makes a great strong cup of joe.
