  1. Hahah. Man you aren’t wrong.
  2. This may be a dumb question but have you tried crossing the straps yourself over your head?
  3. Yea, I do think quality gloves and gear in general is worth it. I’ve been noticing lately that as I grow older I do seem to get cold easier. I also get in 30+ days a season so as far as gear goes I’m a heavier user of equipment, comparatively.
  4. I highly doubt your black diamonds are done. Gloves last a long time. But if you want new ones, do it. Yea they’re not really close to being totally wasted. One thing that happened though is the cloth side of the right hand thumb cover got blown out and the inner removable liner is now the weather facing cover. I think black diamond has a repair program though, so I’ll check into it. Idk. I’m not in a huge rush about it.
  5. Damn those look pretty legit. I’ve been kicking around replacing my black diamond gloves as they are about 7 years old now and pretty packed out. Might pull the trigger on some of those, looks like a really good build for the price.
  6. Yes sir. Layers are your friend and you can always toss them in a locker or a bag if you overhear. For cold/ stormy days on top I have a skintight thermal, loose thermal, and depending on how bad it is I will wear a sweatshirt or a puffer jacket on top of those if needed. I Always have a face mask stuffed in my pocket too, you’ll thank yourself when it starts whipping. Don’t forget a flask full of rumpleminze 😄.
  7. Yea I wouldn’t wear it all on bluebird days but I do like storm riding and you need some oomph when you’re skiing in storms with 30 mph winds and 15 degree temps. The new Patagonia bib and upper shell I got I was blown away at how much more insulation I needed as compared to my old integrally insulated gear.
  8. Yea, unless you want to go whole hog on a powder bib I wouldn’t pay more than Around $200 for a set of pants. I used a pair of lib tech pants I think I paid around $100 for on a Memorial Day sale for about four or five years. Before that I used a pair of rip curl or some other lesser known name for five years or so. The big thing is To make sure they’re water proof and breathable, gore tex if possible. one thing to keep in mind also is how much layering you plan on doing and whether or not they’re insulated. My old lib tech pants were insulated and recently I picked up the Patagonia Snowdrifter bib which is nice but not insulated. Now instead of just rocking some light thermals underneath I wear the bib, sweatpants, and thermals under the sweats.
  9. Goggles - Smith IO, pretty much a stand by for quality and durability. Gloves - black diamond or Hestra
  10. This is a good list.
  11. Haha. Yea it’s like 90% nationals out there. Most of them think it’s pretty ridiculous. The government is seen as fairly corrupt unfortunately. I do think that Nazarbayev did a good job of keeping Kazakhstan out of the problems that many of the other stans have had but they have a long way to go still.
  12. I work in Kazakhstan 28 days at a time and then have 28 days off. Some of my colleagues rotate in and out of China. We all work in a big man camp where everyone is in close proximity 24 hours a day. I’m supposed to start flying back over to work on February 5th. this is not looking so great right now. So many unknowns and a lot of unusual stuff going on.
  13. I’m at mammoth right now. Haven’t checked the walk up prices but yes they are absolutely insane and have been for at least 3-4 years. I think they got bought by KSL private equity partners and Aspen resorts. You really need to buy the ikon or epic pass if you plan on going more than say, 5 days in a season. Or plan ahead on liftopia.com for discount tickets. Regarding the snow at Mammoth right now, it’s not the best but I’ve boarded on worse here especially during the drought years. That being said it’s pretty firm and just thin enough off-piste to provide a pretty solid amount of obstacles. We got much luckier this past week in Salt Lake City but you can’t win em all.
  14. Yea I got here Thursday night and have had powder days every day since. Gonna have five powder days at five diff resorts here by the time I fly home Tuesday night. It’s damn good here right now.
  15. I have had global entry for a couple years now and love it. Another good thing which I wasn’t sure of is that they automatically enroll your new passport after you have it renewed. Confirmed that one today in DEN. Had old and new passport but machine only took the new one. I was worried I had to update my profile manually and didn’t think about it until I was about to fly back home.
  16. Damn. Wasted no time getting this one going. I can happily report I have clean undies so far in 2020. #Itsonlyamatteroftime
  17. Got some ski trips booked aside from the day trips to winter park out of Denver where I’m based these days. Hitting SLC for four days at Brighton and Snowbird then Mammoth for four days out in California. also just picked up all new gear... Patagonia Snowdrifter bib and Triolet jacket Lib Tech T Rice Orca 153 Union Falcor bindings DC T Rice Boa boots. I’ve had the same gear since 2012 so it’s gonna be a nice little stretch. Also got five weeks off work coming up from Jan 3 to Feb 6.
  18. Is there any money left in the wreath fund?
  19. There was a WSJ article yesterday about people literally selling trash on Amazon so I don’t think it’s just you that has noticed the quality of goods sold has started to slide. In their endless quest for dominance they are really starting to overtly not give a fuck about the consumer, whereas before they at least kept it behind closed doors. It’s a shame to see I tell ya what.
  20. Slowly marching back towards getting over a dollar. I bought some late January $1 calls too, just for fun.
  21. My Great uncle was a West Point Cadet, class of 1940, that then volunteered to go fly spitfires in the Battle of Britain before joining the USAF when the US joined the war. Won the distinguished flying cross and many other medals. He was career Air Force and retired as a colonel. I was about 10 when he passed but I always remember the awesome stories he used to tell me about flying back in the day. He had a MP-40 hanging in his office over his desk it was pretty badass.
  22. I grew one of these in October just for fun. I thought that was the whole point of growing a porn stache, for laughs.
  23. This seems totally fucked.
  24. I think they shut it down to control the hysterical masses. Kind of like Iran taking down the internet for a week to control the protestors.
  25. Interesting. Yea doing some sleuthing online it looks like the 110,000 bpd Pasadena refinery was built in 1920 and bought by Petrobras in 2012. Recently sold to Chevron, apparently there’s a pretty major project to revamp it because it is recognized as a turd.
