  1. I had a 486dx33 and had to do some weird F8 on boot shit to run Commanche: Maximum Overkill.
  2. I'm getting my 6th shipment of silver bouillon this week from a $100/mo plan. They ship when it hits 10 coins, a half tube. So thats 3 tubes (I think 62 buffalos since sometimes the math adds up to 11 in a shipment). Don't really notice the money, but building the stack deeper bit by bit.
  3. daughter is 14 headed to high school next year, so I'm a couple years ahead. Good luck and God bless in holding the line. Every friend my daughter has she FaceTime and snaps *constantly*. And fortuitous, they actually set up face to face mall crawls and such. If your daughter claims social isolation from a smartphone ban... I would believe them. Even the apple iPhone chat bubble snobbishness is real. That said, bed time and screen time apps are plentiful and fairly simple to set up.
  4. awesome re Texas lax. And props to Mr and Mrs Caven, the UT lax facilities are amazing for a club sport. I know the WW women's lax team had a visit to meet the UT women and tour the facilities a week ago or so. That donor was a forward thinker. kudos https://www.utrecsports.org/facilities/caven-clark-field-history HS state champs: it will coming back to 'Wood in 2028 and 2029, if not sooner. They got a killer crop of dudes coming up from middle school and some very good coaches.
  5. those cheapo restaurant crayons are shit
  6. Yeah, I hear that. Now I get to work from home about half the time, and that helps. Oh, you mean the kid. Probably just an introvert who likes structure.
  7. Nw Austin. I'm down 7.5% but appraisal still hasn't caught (10% yoy max) the run up from 2021.
  8. Oh! I should note I am the proud owner of a 2023 Westwood Lax State Champ shirt.
  9. At a mid week lax game at St Stephens. It costs $75k per year to go here. The end.

  11. Hey guys - just got a new truck! Maverick XL. It has 4 wheels (plain steelies!), a steering wheel, doors, air conditioning, cruise control, a little bit of truck bed, and nothing else. Thinking about upgrading the rear cup holders, but maybe not. Not sure about sinking another $20 in. Can't really tow shit, but it does have a hitch. Ecoboost 2.0l isn't that much better fuel economy than my old v6 canyon. I gotta cut down my homemade struct ladder rack. Or just let it hang off the back, f it. Probably will be kiddos first car in a couple years, if they can handle the swag.
  12. 3,000,000,000 ass pennies
  13. Oh, that's interesting! If anyone finds an Austin based consultant, let me know.
  14. Anyone know the name of the victim found by Pennybraker this weekend? I think I might know them from high school. PM me.
  15. Even if it's cloudy, won't it be pitch black for 2 minutes? I mean, that's pretty wild.
  16. My mom has 7 figs saved and I legit am not sure that's enough. But if TX medicaid won't pay for memory care, I don't know if it matters too much. I may have to see if another state has different options. Anyway, I have an appointment with a specialist.

  18. I hear ya, but this ain't for me.
  19. If memory care is $11k a month, at some point it don't matter how much I love her.
  20. At some point my mom is going to need to transition to assisted living, and eventually probably to memory care. So I'm fully expecting that to be $120-150k per year if she outlives her brain. I'm going to meet with a will and estates attorney about a medicaid trust. Would an alternate strategy to divest a good chunk of assets now, and then pay for elder care out of remaining savings (on the theory that gifts prior to 60 months are kosher)? Probably not the maximum savings method, but that would work in part? I don't need the money, but maybe the grandkids 529s ought to get stuffed more aggressively now.

  22. Damn. I sooo want to get Lassen, but I'm always in the area a week or two too soon and Bumpus Hell is still closed. I think I may have to wait until the kids are in college and I can do that sweet sweet September/October travel.
  23. 17 humans had ever finished it since 1989. The final 20+ mile loop usually starts about 48 hours in, complete by hour 60. First out on final lap picks clockwise or ccw. They go alone, into the pre-dawn darkness. Alternating clockwise and ccw, so they can't just follow each other. First person out choose cw, so #2 was ccw, #3 cw, #4 ccw. Clockwise is considered mildly better. Jared and Jasmin (who became the only woman to complete 4 loops minutes before) came in about the same time. They are both taking a rest, on the clock. So, next runner gets to go clockwise. Jared has finished multiple times before, one of the very few to have done so. See at about min 3: Final 3 mins of 60 hour race: fwiw the 2012 documentary is free online.
  24. Are you crazy?!? Vampires turn to dust in the daylight. They are demons of the Night. What do you think they will do during the 2:30 of totality? They gonna rip your neck amd feast on your blood. BEWARE OF VAMPIRES DURING THE ECLIPSE! Why do you think the counties are declaring states of emergency? Because we are going to run out of tortilla chips? Fuck no. This is Texas. Devils Sinkhole. Congress Bridge. That stupid tunnel by Fredericksburg. Do I have to spell it out for you? Bat country. Most of em mexican bats, out here laying shingles amd eating skeeters. But some em... some of em are El Diablo. The Black Court. Nosferatu. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. We are all fucked. Vampire Weekend, at noon, on April 8. Fucking A.
