  1. Posting gifs of radical right wing kids not cool around here, bud.
  2. Yeah a true 300# down there (and lots of other places) is pretty legit. People say it a lot, but actually on the scale. A girl on our place killed a MASSIVE pig this year, wish they would have put it on the scale. Far and away the biggest I had ever seen there.
  3. Yeah. The claim was private schools are "lily fucking white", which isn't true for the good ones. I mean our school district is "lily fucking white" compared to Northshore, and looks like a rainbow coalition when compared against the Woodlands.
  4. lol wut. St. Pius and Strake (among others) are top 20 most diverse. Maybe some shit "private schools" fall that way, but the ones that play school are diverse. Are we talking actual private/prep schools here or middle of the mall shit? https://www.niche.com/k12/search/most-diverse-private-schools/m/houston-metro-area/
  5. Figured you'd be all cried out this week. Wipe those tears away honey, it's all going to be ok.
  6. Refinishing affects purist collector value. But I wouldn’t even think twice. Whether it’s pre-Garcia, spotter, finnbear, deluxe, etc matters much more. But since you’re going to hang onto it forever, irrelevant. There was a time when wood just wouldn’t have the accuracy of fiberglass, but with stabilized stocks, alum bedding, and others, that’s no longer the case. I don’t disagree with Shank that it’s not the “important” part of the equation, but there’s a hell of a difference between holding a gorgeous piece of hand carved wood. I’m sure H&H and Westley Richards could nail the fiberglass thing, but… As far as dents and dings telling a story. Not untrue. But exterior surface rust doesn’t hurt accuracy or function either, and no one not wiping their bluing down after a wet jaunt. Would say that’s just personal preference. I would never fix the dents and dings in the guns my G-G-grandfather passed down. But I’ve certainly fixed the checkering I dinged on one of mine, and had some dents pulled after an unfortunate accident (not mine ) when I let someone check one out for a min. I’m not advocating dragging a Blaser onto a mountain trip, but to and from the blind isn’t that hard to keep them unscathed imo.
  7. Don’t threaten me with a good time. We don’t send enough care packages to our nations most disgraceful, imo.
  8. They should have murdered him after he held a gun to a pregnant woman’s belly, while robbing and assaulting her years before. Lasted far too long on this earth, and I hope they didn’t bury him in a sweater. I saw someone had mailed a bag of dog shit to Babbitts family, as her remains. I’m sad that didn’t happen to that POS.
  9. That really sucks to hear. I’ve only bought a few “new” bolt actions in the last 20 years, but have stacked the safe with Weatherby, Sako, and Winchesters from the 50’s and 60’s. Every one of them, to the rifle, has absolute silky actions. I haven’t found the perfect load for each of them, but the ones I’ve worked up have all been shooters (sub MOA 5 shot groups) Some love regular old core lokt and power points, some needed something more bespoke, but that happens with off the shelf rifles, too. Such is the pursuit of one jagged hole. My 70’s have been the most difficult, for sure. 1 MOA for them is the goal *several had already had blueprint and barrel work done. My opinion, and it’s only worth what you’re paying for it, lose the break. Get a can, get a really good pad, hell wear one of the gel pads. A proper fitting stock goes a long way. I’ve always been a bit recoil adverse, but I don’t really get bothered until a bit past a 300WM. I’ve got a little .308 that hurts me more than most of my wbys, the gun absolutely matters.
  10. No, but it did draw a pretty hearty chuckle. Have seen it now with Rush, Floyd, and Babbitt and has yet to not deliver.
  11. Also works. Someone here was appalled a few weeks ago when a txaggy screenshot with the Floyd version was posted.
  12. If you can’t beat them, try and imitate them. Pretty sure freshwater doesn’t just take scraps, though.
  13. Wait, a borrowed George Floyd joke getting pos rep on Surl? #bothsides indeed.
  14. Seriously. I can only post so many lines from the song.
  15. That depends, are we doing Charlotte Plummers or watching the belt sander races?
  16. Is that what you came up with after reading those sentences? Not an explanation of why it could be labeled as such? Interesting look at seeing what you want to.
  17. And yet, we are afforded the same vote. Womp.
  18. Let me guess. Another former republican who still doesn't like to be called a Democrat?
  19. Agreed. I used to have manage a group of young engineers (most were kind of weird and nerdy, gamer types). Very smart, kind kids. One day one overhears me talking to another guy about hunting, and we get to talking guns. Turns out, a bunch of them were big AR guys. They would tinker with them over and over, changing them up, etc. But the more I spoke with them, they didn't really even enjoy shooting. Not a single one hunted, no one shot clays, none of them grew up in families that had firearms or hunted. They just loved the mechanics of, in particular, the AR, and having something in the house made them feel safer. Was very eye opening, and they didn't have a clue when I was telling me about all the pre-64's I had been stacking away, or why I was trying to score this awesome old Superposed. They didn't have a clue those even existed. They were bored with the lack of moving parts in my bolt guns. A Ruger 1 would of mind melted them. An entire generation of kids that were in diapers when the AWB sunsetted.
  20. Kids that didnt get into UT thread ----------> You can put your fishcamp and intro to aggy vids there.
  21. There isn’t much better than a massive 8. Wow. Amazing how a dude like that just “shows up”. Really makes you wonder what rarely comes out to be seen
