I don't think comparing D's matters much.
I think OU's D has to be dominant to win this because your offense sucks. I don't think OU's defense is dominant but probably decent.
Thats what will be great about Saturday. Some questions will certainly be answered.

….he literally closed it with saying we also haven’t played a good offense
And that will continue to be the case even after Saturday.

I’m working on the assumption you believe Texas’ defense is superior to OU’s.

These are the offenses OU's defense has faced per FEI.
Temple (#130)
Houston (#109)
Tulane (#35)
Tennessee (#25)
Auburn (#72)
I thought OU's defense might be decent after the Tennessee game but now I'm pretty sure Tennessee's offense was just drastically overrated. Arkansas shut them down too.
Not sure OU has faced a top 30 offense yet. Granted, we haven't played a good offense yet either.
Ha. OU’s defense might suck because they *may not have played a top 30 offense* (even though you just posted they have), but Texas’ defense definitely doesn’t suck even though they *definitely* haven’t played a top 30 offense.
Last year it was you with the strength of schedule nonsense and Texas lost. Now this year it’s splitting hairs and ignoring stat rankings you just posted.
Texas is the better football team. We all know it. We also all should know the better team wins this game far less than they should. Can it not just be left there?

I think that decision is probably going to come down to Arnold, not the coaches. Pure speculation, but he maybe in the process of packing his sh!t up to hit the portal. If that is the case, he is going to do everything in his power to stay on the sidelines the rest of the season and preserve his redshirt.
I agree. He has a right to he upset about how this was all handled. I believe he can still be an elite quarterback, but it’s pretty clear he needs a less big pressure situation to grow in. Obviously it doesn’t help every single wideout he worked with this summer is currently hurt.

2nd time I've seen this mentioned. I guess he didn't redshirt last year? I assumed he did as little as he played but guess not
No he did not. Played just enough to burn a shirt, and not enough to get any better. Mismanaged horribly from Lebby/Venables.

Yeah, it's really sort of a perfect storm of circumstances. I think it'll be tougher to hold onto top QB recruits behind next year's Heisman winner Arch, after Ewers wins this year's Heisman and moves on to the NFL.
Ha, don’t see Ewers winning the Heisman sitting at 691/8/2 right now. Miami is vastly overrated, but Ward is at 2219/20/5.

Would be hilarious since they basically ran off Gabriel to ensure Arnold wouldn't transfer last year.
Or sorry, they won't ever admit they "ran off" Gabriel - it was just a super duper mutual decision to ensure their 5* freshman didn't bail after having to sit behind Gabriel for another year. Sorry not sorry that Burnt Vegetables can't handle a QB room like Sark.
To be fair, what Arch is doing at Texas is extremely uncommon these days.

If Arnold takes a redshirt -- i.e., doesn't play for the rest of the season -- seems like the natural result is a transfer.
Absolutely.

If they have to bench the QB would it be Arnold or Thompson that come in?
Thompson I’d guess. I think they are going to allow Arnold to redshirt if he wants.

Similar on Sooners Illustrated, but the mods have indicated lower body soft tissue.
They expect to get Tatum back. The complication there is that he didn’t just get concussed, but mildly hurt something in his upper body. He’s as close to a sure return as they have on the current IR.
The rumors have been floated of a Farooq return for the Texas game. Okay. The dude is a JAG. Also, his foot injury is a recurring issue that they should have operated on in the spring. If they rush him back for Texas, how effective will he be? The mods are skeptical but an insider has insisted on it.
Anderson ain’t returning to the field or the program after the season if their mods are reliable. They’re speaking as though they’re certain.
Anthony is done. Gentry Williams might be done for the year because they’re saying he’s not showing a lot of progress on the shoulder.
The biggest break for the bye week on OU’s end is with the OL. They need the time together and they’ve been banged up.
Tatum should be good to go. Hopefully Burks can go, but we’ll see. Anderson is probably done for the year and draft focused (which is nuts). I don’t see the optimism with Farooq anytime soon- maybe by the last quarter of the season. Gentry is done for the year with his shoulder. Anthony done for sure.
OL getting some time to continue getting healthy and get some work together will be huge. Auburn was the first time the 5 that Bedenbaugh wanted out there played together. Hickman is still hurt, but playing through it.
Bye week also greatly benefits the defense getting some rest. With the offense sucking they have played a ton of snaps and it showed against Auburn. They looked generally slower and lethargic which led to our worst tackling day of the season. 76 defensive snaps against Auburn, and 75 against Tennessee.Total MASH unit. Texas should dismantle their football program if they lose to this team.

Anthony is going to redshirt and have another procedure on his knee. If it weren’t for bad luck, we’d have no luck at all.
