  1. In this case that message was indigent defendants being stuck in jail for longer than necessary when trials were delayed because the district clerk wan't competent enough to deliver jury summonses.
  2. Agree with the sentiment . . . especially for anyone living in a place like Travis County. The outlier may be parts of the state that are flipping blue and where the D party has never had a realistic enough shot at winning to properly identify and vet candidates. Hays county went strongly blue last cycle and ended up with a 19 year old district clerk that had no idea how to do the job, which unsurprisingly had real consequences for the county.
  3. The RAT is one of the few dirt pedals that pairs well with the top boost channel of a Vox . . . so its got that going for it.

    Jam bands

I have watched this several times this week . . . . incredibly interesting guitar jam. Julian is an absolute monster jazz guitarist, and his playing on this is completely uninhibited. He goes for all sorts of chromatic stuff that most guitarists would never think of or attempt. Some of it works and some of it doesn't, but its all interesting. And it pushes the Goose guitarist into some more interesting territory too.
  5. That article captures most of the likely contender. For Austin, my guesses would be Barley Swine (or Odd Duck); Nixta; Franklin; Canje; and Suerte. Looking at the recent Michelin stars in Mexico City, they went out of the way to pick some casual regional places. I think for Tx there has to be barbecue and tacos represented.
  6. Out of those choices, Denver would be the easy choice for me. But if you already like where you live and have built a community, I would consider investing in a less expensive second home where you can spend the few months per year when the weather is bad in Arkansas. Santa Fe/Albuquerque could also be an option. Boise is worth looking at. Lot of good candidates in California if you can stomach the taxes.
  7. Previously mentioned lonestar Strat:
  8. I have a lonestar strat that I bought in the late 90s. Its great. At some point I swapped out the humbucker for a single coil and ditched the pearl pickguard for a more classic strat vibe. Its as good or better than any other modern strat I have played.
  9. Neil Young had a long run of subpar studio albums before Harvest Moon and Freedom. Willie was into his 60s when he released Teatro and Spirit.
  10. Traditionally, top firms interview on campus at the top ~15 law schools. They will hire from one of the elite schools without knowing grades. A candidate from somewhere like UT that is in that traditional top 15 group but not "elite" will need a decent GPA. Students from schools outside the top ~15 schools can still get jobs at top firms (typically in the city nearest the law school) if they are near the top of their class.
  11. Its considered by many to be the quintessential Martin model, especially in bluegrass circles. It's probably very resonant, boomy low end (though less than some other Martin models like the HD-28), and loud (which is why bluegrass guys love them). Ad does not say a year but it looks fairly new. Modern Martin quality control is pretty good, imo, so less chance its a dud than with some other brands. Good price too.
  12. Been waiting for this to start streaming for a long time. One of my all time favorites. I particularly like the more odd and surreal episodes, like Aurora Borealis and The Body in Question. The minor characters like Bernard and Adam are also wonderful.
  13. Are you suggesting MisterP drives a used Corvette?
  14. That the Jewish people outlasted multiple other powers that have conquered/attacked Israel in the past . . . and maybe Greeks and Romans fit the meter better than Ottomans and Babylonians.
  15. I used to fish on a river near Santa Cruz and would occasionally encounter what appeared to be UCSC students. Based on those experiences, my impression is that UCSC students really like to do psychedelics in the woods.
