What is Pence’s motivation to do this? I would imagine he fucking hates trump and I can’t imagine he is delusional enough to think he has any chance at the 2024 nomination with or without such a stunt especially since any charges to come (other than tax issues which would likely not involve jail time) most likely will be from NY state

Pence is definitely going to run in 24 and his only hope is to win the support of the Trumpers and be viewed as the only republican that supported trump when the election was stolen.

Their ultimate goal is to reverse the PA Supreme Court's interpretation of the statute and invalidate the votes.

But that's not going to happen until the Supreme Court reaches the case on the merits if it happens at all.  It won't happen on the "shadow docket" of interim or interlocutory orders.

I am of the understanding that there are not enough of those "post election day" votes to make any kind of difference, whether counted or not.

If Fox News was right last night there are about 4,000 of them in Philly. That would equate to a little more than 30k state wide. But they are meaningless because they are going to skew to Biden and he’s going to be ahead.

Trump thinks he’s going to get all or some of the Philly mail in votes invalidated because he doesn’t understand the reality of the situation surrounding his lawsuit about the poll watchers.

I actually saw a Republican -- maybe Rick Santorum? -- say that segregating those votes was not legal and they should be rejected.  They are basically arguing both sides of the coin.

Santorum at one point tried to claim that they counted them. They didn’t. They are sitting in shrink wrap waiting.

The republicans just wanted them segregated and not counted. The Supreme Court wasn’t clear if they could be counted or not. Not added to the total count, just counted so we know the numbers.

So have any of the networks attempted to show their work on how Trump could come back in Pennsylvania or Nevada? I know CNN has said "our data analysts are working hard and are waiting until the math shows confidence it's over" but have they shown their work? Tell me what it would take for Trump to come back and what probability you think that has.

They’re waiting for releases of provisional ballots from a few counties so they can see that they don’t skew overwhelmingly towards trump. One theory is that the bulk of those would be republicans who requested to be automatically send a mail in ballot when they voted in the primary at the start of the pandemic. Then when Trump pushed his supporters to voting in person a lot of those turned into provisional ballots.

It’s probably bullshit since the unreturned mail in ballots were split 3/2/.75 d/r/i but I can see why they are being cautious. If calling it wouldn’t call the election they would have called it yesterday but no one wants the embarrassment of being the first to call it wrong since there is a mathematical possibility that it could still flip back to trump.

  5. Fox News was talking about the Supreme Court fight over the late arriving mail in ballots. Their correspondent in Philly mentioned 4,000. Assume that was just philly county were talking about a total of 33k ballots statewide.

So their big fight at the Supreme Court is over not allowing 33k ballots that will break at 75% for biden. They’ll have no effect on the election.

Trump winning PA or NV requires one to erase data points of Biden getting the majority of votes consistently from the remaining ballots from all mail in ballots. It’s rage inducing.

It’s because the first batch of provisionals in PA favored trump but that ignores that they still skewed just slightly in Biden’s favor from the county average.

How anyone has the stones to work for him with his reputation baffles me. He literally chews up and spits out everyone that has ever worked for/with him. It's as if people don't learn.

That was basically the point that CNN was making. He’s frustrated that he can’t get quality credible lawyers for this nonsense but it’s because everyone knows that it’s nonsense that no one is willing to attach their name to it.

Sort of off topic but don’t know where else to post it.

I Googled the PA Lt. Governor because he just looks like he has an interesting backstory - and he does - and found this article on his house.

It’s an old car dealership and its renovation was part of his movement as the mayor of a semi-dilapidated steel town to revitalize the town.

He still lives there even though as Lt. Governor he has an official residence.

It’s seriously bad ass and I thought y’all would also enjoy his Brazilian wife.

Braddock is basically Pittsburgh. You could be downtown in 15 minutes. It’s pretty much a riverbank that was once line with steel mills and the houses on the hill above it that were for the mill workers.

I live 20 mins from there and I would have never guessed that it had its own mayor.
